Chapter 35
Ren Caixia was eventually taken back, and Xu Yi left without any hesitation.
That night, as she listened to the footsteps of a man outside, she felt utterly hopeless, realizing she had trusted the wrong person and taken the wrong path.
Just as she was drowning in despair, she heard commotion outside. Before long, several public security officers entered the house and found her.
“Are you Ren Caixia?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Come with us first. We’ll talk later.”
“Alright.”
Overjoyed, Ren Caixia followed the officers back to the capital. She immediately took them to arrest Xu Yi.
However, Xu Yi had returned to the capital a day earlier than them and had already spent the 450 yuan he had taken. Having money felt great.
Little did he know, his good days were numbered. The first thing Ren Caixia did upon returning to school was to confront Xu Yi.
During class, she suddenly appeared in the classroom, shocking Xu Yi so much that cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
“Officer, it’s him! He took me to the countryside and tried to sell me as a bride to the villagers!”
Ren Caixia had nothing but hatred for Xu Yi now.
“What nonsense are you talking about, Officer? This woman is mentally unstable! Please investigate properly!”
Xu Yi firmly denied everything, but the officers already had solid evidence.
“No need to argue. We’ve uncovered your real identity, Xu Han. Come with us.”
The officers took Xu Yi away, and soon, word of his crimes spread throughout the school.
The principal was furious upon learning that such a student had enrolled in his school. An investigation revealed that Xu Yi had taken someone else’s place to attend university.
In the end, he was expelled.
Li Pandi was also deeply disturbed when she heard about it.
She had learned that Xu Yi’s initial target was actually her. It was only because she kept refusing him that he had turned to someone else instead.
With everything behind her, Ren Caixia resumed her normal life. She was most grateful to her seven dormmates—if they hadn’t reported the matter to the authorities, who knows where she would be now?

One day after class, Li Pandi excitedly ran to Gu Nian.
“Gu Nian! Sister Xu is in the capital! Let’s go see her after school. It’s been so long!”
“Okay!”
Gu Nian also missed Sister Xu. As soon as school ended, she and Li Pandi headed to the state-owned restaurant to meet her.
They had arranged to meet there, and when Sister Xu saw them, she immediately pulled them into a warm hug.
After they sat down and Li Pandi ordered food, she asked Xu Hua,
“Sister Xu, what brings you to the capital?”
“I quit my job at the cafeteria. I want to develop my career here and open a tailor shop, so I came.”
“What about the kids?”
Xu Hua looked a little embarrassed before replying,
“Gu Nian, Pandi, I’ve met someone new—Chef Li from the cafeteria. If I manage to open the shop, I’ll bring him and the kids here.”
It was clear that Sister Xu was living well now. Her face radiated happiness, a stark contrast to her exhausted appearance when she was with Luo Dazhu. The right person can help you truly live for yourself.
“Oh, and I have good news—I’m three months pregnant!”
Gu Nian and Li Pandi were stunned.
Sister Xu laughed and patted her leg.
“Look at me, rambling about myself. How about you two? How have you been?”
As they chatted, Sister Xu brought up something else.
“Zheng Rongrong got divorced. She and her husband just couldn’t get along and were always arguing, so they went to Commander Zheng to settle the divorce.”
Gu Nian and Li Pandi were doing well at university. Gu Nian thought Sister Xu’s idea of opening a tailor shop was excellent.
“Sister Xu, do you need business partners?”
“Gu Nian, you want to join me?”
Xu Hua was flattered, unsure if the shop would even succeed.
“Yes! I’ll cover half the startup costs—I want in.”
Back in her previous life, Gu Nian had some experience with fashion design. Designing trendy clothes now would be easy for her.
Seeing Gu Nian join, Li Pandi also insisted on joining. Since they were still short on staff, Sister Xu happily accepted.
They agreed to split the shop into three equal shares, and Sister Xu refused to take their money upfront.
They all quickly agreed, and Gu Nian suggested opening the shop near the university.
Sister Xu agreed—she trusted Gu Nian’s instincts.
The next day, Gu Nian and Li Pandi gave Xu Hua the money to rent a shop.
And just like that, the tailor shop was up and running. After class, Gu Nian and Li Pandi would go help out.

One day, the school was buzzing with alarming news.
“Hey, have you heard? There’s a pervert on campus! He targets female students at night—several girls have already been harassed!”
The rumors spread like wildfire. Many female students were too scared to walk alone, choosing to move in groups or not go out at all.
Gu Nian and her friends hoped the school would catch the pervert soon so everyone could feel safe again.
That afternoon, Gu Nian was called to the office by their department head, Zhao Feng.
“Gu Nian, I’ve thought about your request for early graduation, and I don’t think it’s feasible. What do you think?”
“Why not?”
Gu Nian remembered the principal had approved it.
“Well, you’re still so young. You should finish your studies properly. I really think you should reconsider.”
Then, with a suggestive look, he added,
“Of course, if you’re really determined, I wouldn’t say no. But you’re such a young, beautiful girl—why the rush?”
His gaze roamed over her body, making Gu Nian roll her eyes.
Zhao Feng always pretended to be a respectable man, but in reality, he was nothing but a hypocrite.
Looking at him now, she suspected that he was the campus pervert.
“Oh, is that so? You’re older and more experienced, so I’ll listen to your advice.”
Gu Nian forced down her disgust and replied sweetly.
Zhao Feng hadn’t expected Gu Nian to agree so easily. He thought she’d refuse at first, but clearly, she knew how much he could offer her.
He smirked.
“Great! Gu Nian, you’re the most obedient student I’ve ever taught.”
As he spoke, he reached out to touch her, but Gu Nian skillfully dodged.
“Let’s discuss this further later. You can go now.”
Zhao Feng was already planning his next move—he’d wait until she was alone at night.
Little did he know, Gu Nian had her own plans.
Back at the dorm, she told her roommates that she had a way to catch the pervert.
“Gu Nian, do you know who it is?”
“Almost certainly. Want to hear my plan?”
Everyone despised the pervert, so of course, they were eager to listen.
“What’s the plan?”
When Gu Nian finished explaining, her roommates burst into laughter—her idea was absolutely brilliant.
