Chapter 18

“Lin Feng, where are you now? I’m coming to find you.”

“I’m at the east gate of Mingyue Lake.”

“Wait for me there; I’ll come right over.” Xia Shiyu happily packed her things and prepared to go downstairs to catch a taxi to Mingyue Lake.

As she entered the elevator, Xia Shiyu’s phone rang.

“Yanyan, what’s up?” Xia Shiyu answered the call, and it was her good friend Song Xueyan on the other end.

Now the executive CEO of Jiangzhou Calligraphy and Painting under the Song Group, Xia Shiyu had earned this position not because of their friendship with Song Xueyan but because of her genuine abilities.

She was beautiful but with brains and abilities that can back her up.

“Shiyu, these days the Song Group is facing a financial crisis, and the salaries are a few days late. Is Auntie’s medical expenses okay?”

Song Xueyan had been busy these days and just remembered the matter of her best friend Xia Shiyu.

People were like that; they forgot about some things when they got busy.

“My mom is fine now. I’ve brought her back home for care. I’m busy at the company, and it’s more convenient this way,” Xia Shiyu said with a smile.

“Okay, I’ll visit Auntie in a couple of days.” Song Xueyan said, “By the way, I know a master who might be able to cure Auntie’s illness. I’ll introduce him to you in a couple of days.”

Xia Shiyu sighed, “Yanyan, forget it. I don’t believe in those masters anymore. I’ve found a miraculous doctor now; maybe he can cure my mom.”

Miraculous doctor?

Song Xueyan was taken aback.

In her mind, only Lin Feng could be considered a miraculous doctor.

Song Xueyan raised her eyebrows slightly. She remembered the scent of perfume on Lin Feng two nights ago; it was a popular fragrance, and she recalled that Xia Shiyu had used it too.

Miraculous doctor… perfume…

“It can’t be such a coincidence,” Song Xueyan whispered.

“Yanyan, what are you talking about?” Xia Shiyu asked curiously.

“Nothing… it’s nothing.” Song Xueyan shook her head. After a few more brief words discussing the company situation, they hung up.

Before hanging up, Song Xueyan vaguely heard Xia Shiyu telling the taxi driver to go to “Mingyue Lake,” which made Song Xueyan’s heart skip a beat.

Could it really be such a coincidence?

At Mingyue Lake.

The police had sealed off the scene, and three fully armed divers were underwater in Mingyue Lake, trying to retrieve the Desert Eagle pistol thrown into the lake by the old man from the Mei family.

Lin Feng was driven out by the police and could only wait at the east gate.

Half an hour later, Xia Shiyu arrived in a taxi.

“Lin Feng, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting.” Xia Shiyu, dressed professionally, with her snow-white legs clad in sheer stockings, caused Lin Feng to momentarily lose control.

Even though Lin Feng possessed a righteous demeanor, he couldn’t help but steal a few glances.

Lin Feng got into the taxi and said to the driver, “Master, Lingbao Pharmacy.”

The taxi driver nodded and started the car.

Before Lin Feng got into the car, the taxi driver, during a red-light interval, would always glance at Xia Shiyu through the rearview mirror. Women like Xia Shiyu, who were exceptionally beautiful, were a feast for the eyes with just one look.

Ten minutes later.

The two arrived at the nearest Lingbao Pharmacy.

Lingbao Pharmacy was a nationwide chain with over a dozen branches in Jiangzhou, scattered throughout the city.

They got out of the taxi, and Xia Shiyu followed Lin Feng into Lingbao Pharmacy.

“Sir and madam, may I help you with something?”

“Do you have paper and pen?”

“Yes, we do.”

Lin Feng took the paper and pen, wrote down the needed medicinal herbs, and then had the pharmacist follow the prescription to collect the herbs. The process of weighing the herbs was tedious and required the use of a manual scale to ensure accurate weights.

“Lin Feng, why doesn’t she use an electronic scale?” Xia Shiyu asked curiously.

“If an electronic scale makes a mistake and the dosage is incorrect, it could be fatal. Using a manual scale is safer and more reliable,” Lin Feng explained.

Half an hour later.

The pharmacist packaged the Chinese herbs and handed them to Lin Feng.

Lin Feng also bought a medicinal pot for decoction from the pharmacy, and in the end, he paid for everything in one go.

Carrying the medicinal herbs, the two returned to the apartment Xia Shiyu rented.

Holding the herbs, Xia Shiyu’s fair face flushed with excitement. “Lin Feng, you’ve helped me so much, I really don’t know how to thank you.”

“No need to thank me. I’m not doing it for money.” Lin Feng smiled, his eyes couldn’t help but glance at Xia Shiyu’s beautiful legs again.

This time, Xia Shiyu happened to catch him in the act.

Lin Feng awkwardly scratched his head, jokingly saying, “Miss Xia, I’m not after money. If it’s really necessary, you can give me a kiss.”

Xia Shiyu playfully slapped Lin Feng on the back. “Lin Feng, stop joking…”

Back at the apartment.

Lin Feng prepared the medicinal herbs and started decocting the medicine.

“Lin Feng, why is this pack of herbs different from the others? Is there something special about them?” Xia Shiyu curiously pointed at the herbal package and asked.

“You’ll know in a moment.”

Lin Feng teased, keeping her in suspense.

Twenty minutes later, Lin Feng poured the brewed medicinal herbs into a cup and handed it to Xia Shiyu with utmost care. “Miss Xia, drink this cup of medicine while it’s hot.”

“Is this for me?” Xia Shiyu exclaimed in disbelief.

“Miss Xia, I noticed your disturbed aura, a sign of irregular menstrual cycles. So, I brewed this medicine for you. Drink it to nourish your body.”

“Thank you.”

Xia Shiyu took the cup and sipped slowly.

As Lin Feng cleaned the medicine pot, he continued brewing the medicine.

Given Xia Shiyu’s mother’s current condition, her physiological functions were declining. Administering acupuncture recklessly might lead to unpredictable consequences. Therefore, the focus was on regulating her condition first.

During a break in brewing the medicine, Lin Feng went downstairs to the supermarket and bought a large bath basin.

As Lin Feng stepped out of the supermarket, he felt like there were eyes watching him in secret, and he suddenly had a bad feeling.

He had made enemies in the past few days, and he wasn’t sure who was tailing him – ordinary people or cultivators?

Having purchased the basin, Lin Feng returned to the apartment.

“Miss Xia, after a while, give Auntie a medicinal bath. I’ll be waiting outside, and after the bath, I’ll administer acupuncture.”

“Okay.” Xia Shiyu nodded.

Lin Feng stepped out and quietly closed the door. Then, he disappeared on the spot, reappearing in a small alley.

In the alley, three people were having a conversation.

“Boss, I wasn’t wrong. That little white-faced guy is back, and he even bought an extra-large bath basin from the supermarket downstairs. Looks like he wants to take a love bath with that little girl.”

“The bastard is really having a good time.” Li Ergou flicked the cigarette butt to the ground, looked up at his underling, and asked, “Are you sure you didn’t mistake the person?”

“Absolutely sure, I’d recognize that little white-faced guy even if I turned into ashes.”

“Damn it, Sun Tao, that son of a bitch. Didn’t he say he locked up that little white-faced guy in prison? Didn’t he say he’d never come out in this lifetime?” Li Ergou cursed.

After being scolded by Lin Feng during the day, the three thugs didn’t give up. They planned to attack Xia Shiyu’s room tonight, ravage the provocative little enchantress, and vent their pent-up anger.

Little did they expect that Lin Feng had been released from prison.

“Boss, what should we do?”

“Wait a bit longer,” Li Ergou said in a low voice. “You said that little white-faced guy bought a large bath basin. They’ll definitely take a bath together later. While they’re bathing, we’ll go in and trap them in the bathroom.”

” Your plan is really good.”

Suddenly, Lin Feng’s voice echoed behind them.
