Chapter 31: Learning Results

Continuing upward, Shu Xin and Yan Mo discovered a company preparing to start online livestreaming. Judging by their stockpile, it seemed they were planning to venture into mukbang streaming. Their storage room was filled with all kinds of food, along with several fully stocked large freezers.

Although gathering food wasn’t the purpose of today’s outing, they wouldn’t turn down such an opportunity either—after all, they weren’t fools.

After clearing out the top ten floors, the place felt noticeably emptier. Without lingering, the two quickly moved downstairs.

The lower ten floors had been submerged in torrential rain and floodwaters for three months, leaving little of value intact. Additionally, three floors were buried under a thick layer of ice, reducing the actual search area for Bu Xiangning and Mu Qimai to just seven floors.

The once neat and orderly offices were now in complete disarray due to water damage and erosion. Some items were so ruined that their original forms were unrecognizable. Fortunately, these weren’t within their search scope—otherwise, they might have gone insane trying to salvage anything useful.

If something could be soaked and washed away by floodwaters, it meant it wasn’t that valuable to begin with. A research-based tech company like this, which thrived on core technology, would never leave important items lying around carelessly. Anything of significance would be stored securely in places beyond the reach of ordinary people.

After struggling through the debris-filled corridors, the two finally managed to locate a safe hidden in a secret compartment of the CEO’s office.

The remaining companies followed a similar pattern. By the time Shu Xin and Yan Mo made their way downstairs to meet up with Bu Xiangning and Mu Qimai, they found the two standing beside a pile of eight or nine safes of varying sizes. There were also more than a dozen sealed glass containers, each holding freshly extracted seedlings. It was unclear what type of plants they were.

Using Yan Mo’s cover as usual, Shu Xin swiftly stored everything into her spatial space. She also took out some food from the mukbang company upstairs, filling four backpacks to the brim.

As they neared their residential complex, the four of them stopped at a predetermined dead angle of surveillance to retrieve black backpacks for disguise. Once they had slung them over their shoulders, they resumed their walk toward the community.

Perhaps it was because each of them carried a bag and looked quite young, making them appear like easy targets. Not long after entering the complex, they were stopped by a group of people blocking their path.

Most of the opposing group were men, wielding an assortment of makeshift weapons scavenged from their homes. From the looks of it, they were likely residents of the same building, banding together to rob anyone returning to the community in order to secure survival resources.

Shu Xin and the others halted. She stood behind Yan Mo, silently sizing up the dozen or so people before them.

One glance at their expressions was enough to tell that a fight was inevitable. The leader of the opposing group was no fool—he didn’t bother with cliché robbery lines. Instead, he simply turned and signaled to his men to raise their weapons and charge.

Shu Xin, Yan Mo, and the others had developed their teamwork through daily training. Without the need for unnecessary words or gestures, they instinctively drew their blades.

This was Shu Xin’s first real fight with live weapons. Other than a slight sense of nervousness and discomfort, she mostly felt excitement.

The unfamiliar thrill ignited her nerves, sharpening her focus.

After enduring grueling training for over three months without a real chance to put it to use, this was finally the moment to test her learning results.
