Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 541

Chapter 541: Afraid You Can’t Afford to Lose

When Grandmother Ming heard Yu Manxue’s words, she frowned. “Enough. Your brother is serving under Su Jiu. If you can act without being noticed, that’s one thing, but you can’t act in silence. It will only bring endless trouble to your brother. Do I need to tell you this?”

“Grandmother, haven’t you seen how arrogant Ming Wanqing is? And Su Jiu is a jerk too, not giving me any face in front of so many people.”

“They have the capital to be arrogant. He is a second-ranked official and has the Emperor’s trust. Moreover, he is also Imperial Prince Yu’s brother. If he wants to do something, the Prince will definitely help. Our families have no chance against Imperial Prince Yu. The Xie family was so powerful, but in the end, they were overturned by Imperial Prince Yu.”

“Moreover, the Ming family won’t risk offending Imperial Prince Yu for you.” And that’s the most important point.

Despite her dissatisfaction, Yu Manxue took in these words.

It’s best for Ming Wanning not to give her a chance, or she will surely regret it.

After both families confirmed the wedding date, Su Jiu began preparing the betrothal gifts, while Su Yu started investigating the affairs of the Yu family.

Wang Jinhe, aware of Su Yu’s investigation into the Yu family, made a somewhat amusing remark, “If the Yu family knew that they provoked you because of Yu Manxue, I wonder if they would be directly infuriated to death?”

Wang Jinhe was quite interested in this.

“They will know.” Since the engagement with his elder brother had been settled, they were now considered part of the family. Could Yu Manxue still bully her family?

“You have a point.”

“My people have found out that the Ling Empire and Qi Empire  have already entered Xuan Empire,” Su Yu said with narrowed eyes.

He was going to meet Qi Ming again, and he was really not happy about it.

“Not in a good mood?” Wang Jinhe asked, trying to suppress a smile, as he looked at Su Yu’s displeased expression.

Su Yu nodded, “I don’t want to see him, but it’s good if they come.”

Wang Jinhe was puzzled by Su Yu’s attitude. Did he hit his head on the door? How else could he say such things?

“What’s with that look?” It gave him goosebumps.

“Nothing, I just find you quite contradictory,” Wang Jinhe shook his head.

It was clear that Su Yu didn’t want to see the person, yet he also thought it would be good if they came. Wang Jinhe couldn’t understand his thoughts.

Su Yu was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled, “Just because of this?”

Wang Jinhe nodded matter-of-factly, “Isn’t it because of this? What else could it be?”

“I said it would be good for him to come because there are some things that need to be addressed openly,” Su Yu said with narrowed eyes.

Wang Jinhe nodded in a somewhat understanding manner. He didn’t fully agree with Su Yu’s approach in these matters, but he supported him nonetheless.

“If you think it’s good, then let’s do it.”

“After coming to the capital, I feel like I’ve turned into a third-rate invalid,” Wang Jinhe lamented, resting his head on the table.

“All I do every day is eat and sleep. At this rate, I’m going to get fat,” Wang Jinhe grumbled.

“You’ve been busy for a whole year. At least you have some time off at the end of the year. Are you complaining about having nothing to do?” Su Yu said helplessly.

Watching the bored Wang Jinhe lying on the table, Su Yu’s eyes revealed a pensive look. Since his wife felt she had nothing to do, could they consider their daughter’s matters?

Reaching out to embrace Wang Jinhe, Su Yu rested his chin on her shoulder and spoke with a slightly hoarse voice, “Since you feel like you have nothing to do, how about I give you a child for you to play with?”

Upon hearing Su Yu’s words, Wang Jinhe rolled her eyes in an unimpressed manner. What kind of talk was this guy spouting?

“Is a child just for your entertainment?”

“Aren’t you just bored? Next year, let’s grow high-yield rice for another year and have a child at the same time. What do you think?” Su Yu tempted.

Pushing him away, Wang Jinhe said irritably, “I don’t think so.”

She knew he was trying to trick her.

Raising an eyebrow, Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe. In this matter, her opinion didn’t count; only his did.

Leaning in close to Wang Jinhe’s ear, he whispered, “You’ve designed so many beautiful little dresses. Don’t you want to make clothes for our daughter to wear?”

Previously, Wang Jinhe had made a few sets of rompers for the two little ones at home, and they looked incredibly cute.

He imagined how adorable their daughter would look in those little bear-themed clothes.

Wang Jinhe felt exasperated by Su Yu’s teasing and pushed him away, saying impatiently, “Just shut up. I don’t want to hear you talk.”

Su Yu chuckled. He could tell that Wang Jinhe was actually looking forward to it.

Since that day, Wang Jinhe had come to understand just how strong Su Yu’s interest in having children really was.

Wang Jinhe finally reached her limit, and Su Yu quieted down a bit.

Wang Jinhe felt that something was off with her body. She felt tired all day and sometimes even felt sleepy while eating. Moreover, her taste seemed to have changed a lot. Things she didn’t like before, she now enjoyed.

Wang Jinhe didn’t dwell on it much, attributing the change in taste to the weather.

One day, after staying at home for a while, Ming Wanning invited Wang Jinhe to go out for a stroll. At a silver shop, they ran into Gu Xiruo and Yu Manxue.

Wang Jinhe didn’t react at all upon seeing Gu Xiruo, but Yu Manxue walked over to Ming Wanning and said sarcastically, “You’re different now that you’ve climbed the social ladder. You don’t even want your own cousin.”

Ming Wanning looked at Yu Manxue with a sardonic smile and said, “Do you want me to publicize what you’ve done?”

Yu Manxue was left speechless. If Ming Wanning revealed the truth, her reputation would be ruined.

“You dare,” her threat sounded feeble.

“If you don’t want me to speak out, then stay away from me,” Ming Wanning retorted.

Gu Xiruo stood by, observing them, seemingly finding someone she could temporarily collaborate with.

Gu Xiruo walked up to Wang Jinhe with a faint smile on her face. “I didn’t expect the county princess to return.”

“Is the capital your family’s creation?” Wang Jinhe retorted nonchalantly.

Gu Xiruo frowned. “Is there a need for the county princess to be like this? I haven’t offended you.”

Wang Jinhe was amused by Gu Xiruo’s words and looked at her with a sardonic smile. “Whether you have offended me or not, you know it in your heart.”

“Gu Xiruo, holding onto something that doesn’t belong to you, aren’t you worried about being discovered?”

“If your actions were discovered, what would be your fate? Would you be abandoned, or would you have nothing?” Wang Jinhe looked at Gu Xiruo with a sardonic smile.

She hit where it hurt.

“Although I don’t care about these things, a little more wouldn’t hurt. I just hope you can afford to lose,” Wang Jinhe looked into Gu Xiruo’s eyes and saw panic and anger.
