Chapter 35
“You’re instructing me?” Zhang Fei retorted directly again.
On the other end of the phone, Chen Hao had a wry expression.
Having been in the municipal bureau for so many years, this was the first time Chen Hao encountered such a situation. Suppressing his anger, Chen Hao said in a deep voice, “I am Chen Hao, the director of the Jiangzhou City Police Bureau.”
After introducing himself, Zhang Fei was completely stunned.
“This… this…” Zhang Fei was on the verge of tears. What kind of trouble was this? Who could have thought that the seemingly ordinary woman was actually the leader’s leader.
This didn’t fit the leadership style!
Chen Hao on the phone immediately commanded, “Now, I order you to follow Leader Zhao’s command.”
“Understood, Director!”
After the call ended, Zhang Fei looked at Zhao Jing with a serious expression. “Leader Zhao, I’m sorry!”
“Stop the nonsense. Quickly block the village entrance and gather all the people Lin Hao brought into the village at the entrance,” Zhao Jing said indifferently.
“Understood!” Zhang Fei got out of the car, gave a cold look at Lin Hao in the distance, and said, “What are you standing there for? Hurry up, call your brothers over. Whoever stole the things, admit it quickly!”
Lin Hao also realized the seriousness of the problem. He sprinted towards the village while secretly deciding that he must not admit that he allowed someone to steal the herbs.
With Zhao Jing’s high position, if she really made things difficult, he would spend the rest of his life in prison.
Thinking about this, Lin Hao quickened his pace.
Lin Feng, Zhao Jing, Zhang Fei, and the remaining police officer followed closely. The police officer parked the police car at the village entrance, blocking the only road into the village.
“Why such a big fuss over some herbs?” the young police officer murmured. “Could it be some rare and precious treasures?”
On the other side, Lin Feng and the others arrived at the village square.
There was a Wuling minivan parked there, bought with money pooled together by Lin Hao and his friends. It cost over thirty thousand when they bought it, and it was used by a dozen people when they went out.
When Lin Feng and the others saw the square, they were all stunned. Over a dozen young people were lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
Back in Lin Feng’s courtyard, the group had split up. Yiyi was responsible for questioning the young people about who had stolen things from Lin Feng’s house.
The young people repeatedly denied, claiming they were all at Lin Hao’s doorstep and never went to Lin Feng’s house, let alone stole anything. Moreover, a few of them, seeing Yiyi’s delicate appearance, decided to flirt with her.
Yiyi, angered by their advances, immediately took action and taught them a lesson, with others stepping in to help.
In the end, Yiyi dealt with all of them.
“Quickly tell me, who stole the things?” Yiyi asked coldly while stepping on one person’s arm.
“Mercy, Heroine! We really don’t know; none of us went to steal!” a young man cried out.
Lin Hao saw this scene and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Luckily, this matter was handled discreetly, known only to his brother Gouzi and Gouzi’s followers. Lin Hao scanned the crowd and his expression changed.
Gouzi was missing!
“Tell me, are all your people here?” Zhao Jing looked at Lin Hao and questioned.
“I’m counting… one person is missing.”
“Who?”
“Gouzi.”
Lin Hao swallowed a spit. In this situation, he dared not lie and could only pray that Gouzi had hidden himself and wouldn’t be caught.
Otherwise, everyone would be in trouble.
“Give you another chance. Among you, who has the closest relationship with Gouzi?” Yiyi said.
The group’s gaze split into two directions. One looked at Lin Hao, and the other at Gouzi’s follower.
Ignoring Lin Hao, Yiyi walked directly towards Gouzi’s follower and asked, “Where’s Gouzi?”
Top of Form
“I… I don’t know,” the young sidekick shook his head in denial, but under the looming fear, his acting skills were so clumsy.
“You’re lying!”
“You have the smell of herbs on you. You’ve definitely come into contact with herbs. I’ll give you one last chance, or else you can expect to spend the rest of your life in prison.”
The little follower’s face was defeated. When he saw Officer Zhang Fei, he felt relieved. Zhang Fei was the highest-ranked person here, and if Zhang Fei didn’t speak, it meant the matter wasn’t that serious. It wasn’t his turn to step in.
The little follower gradually relaxed.
Little did he know, in front of Leader Zhao Jing, Zhang Fei dared not speak, let alone intervene.
“I really don’t know. I touched those herbs in the courtyard just now. It’s not strange to have the smell of herbs on me.”
“Don’t force me.” Yiyi clenched her teeth. If this little follower was an enemy, she would have directly twisted off his head and kicked it like a ball.
Seeing this, the little follower raised his voice and shouted to Zhang Fei, “Uncle Officer, help! She’s going to hit me!”
Zhang Fei was utterly speechless.
Damn, don’t drag me into this when you’re seeking death.
“Ring, ring, ring…”
Zhao Jing’s phone suddenly rang, and she immediately answered the call. It was the voice of Murong Mengxi.
“The herbs have been found, hidden in the haystack. However, the black suitcase hasn’t been found. Question those people again. They haven’t been trained; a little punishment, and they’ll spill the beans.”
“Got it.”
Zhao Jing hung up the phone and approached the little follower.
“The herbs you hid in the haystack have been found. Now I’m asking you, where is the black suitcase?”
Hearing that the location of the herbs was exposed, the little follower’s face slightly changed. He sneered, “Since the herbs are found, it’s not my business. Besides, I have no idea about the black suitcase you’re talking about.”
“Still playing tough?” Zhao Jing sneered and looked at Zhang Fei behind her. “Give me your gun!”
Without hesitation, Zhang Fei took out his gun.
Holding the gun against the little follower’s head, Zhao Jing said, “I’ll give you one last chance. Where is the black suitcase?”
Snap!
The pitch-black barrel of the gun on the other side scared the little follwer into collapsing on the ground, leaving a puddle of yellow liquid. Even the foolish follower knew he had caused trouble this time.
“I’ll talk… I’ll talk… It was Gouzi who took it!”
“Where is he now?”
“At… at the big bridge.”
At that moment, outside Maple Leaf Village, under the big bridge.
Gouzi was carrying the black suitcase, excitement in his eyes. The weight of the suitcase made Gouzi confident that there must be tens of thousands inside.
“Why isn’t he coming? Doesn’t matter, I’ll open it first.” Gouzi muttered to himself, then found a piece of brick and forcefully smashed open the suitcase.
The suitcase wasn’t made of any special material.
After a few clanks, Gouzi managed to break it open. Impatiently, he opened the suitcase.
As soon as the suitcase opened.
Gouzi was shocked, his jaw dropping.
“Oh… my… God…”
“How could it be guns! This is impossible, this is impossible!” Gouzi’s sidekick said, tears streaming down his eyes.
Vaguely.
Gouzi seemed to hear the sound of police sirens. He immediately collapsed on the ground, knowing that his future was over.
