A Summer Night’s Affair Chapter 31

Chapter 31: He Hooked Me

“If I had known earlier, I would have stomped on his knee twice more. Letting him off too easily.” He Jiayu said

At this moment, Lu Jin was already sitting on the sidelines, one hand resting on his knee while his injured leg was stretched straight out. His expression still carried a hint of arrogance and a trace of hostility.

A group of people surrounded him.

Lu Jin: “It’s nothing, just a minor injury.”

He Jiayu: “You still need to go to the hospital for a check-up.”

Several girls squeezed in, insisting on accompanying Lu Jin to the hospital, making a noisy commotion that was giving everyone a headache.

He Jiayu lifted his head, scanning the crowd as if searching for something.

After looking around, his gaze locked onto Xu En’tang, who stood behind the crowd.

“Xu Meimei, is the driver here?”

Xu En’tang: “Yes, he’s here.”

The game was about to end soon, and after handling the post-game arrangements, Yu Xiyue still had other matters to attend to.

Xu En’tang had already contacted Uncle Li in advance to pick her up.

Just now, Uncle Li had messaged her saying he had arrived.

He Jiayu: “Then I’ll leave Lu Jin to you. We still have to finish the game.”

The referee was already urging them back onto the court.

Shi Yu: “Don’t worry, we’re definitely winning this one.”

They returned to the court, and the game resumed.

The people crowding around the logistics area were also cleared out.

“Hurry up and get to the hospital!” Yu Xiyue handed Lu Jin his jacket.

Lu Jin put on the jacket and zipped it up. From the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Xu En’tang standing there. “Help me.”

Xu En’tang walked over to support him.

Lu Jin lifted an arm and draped it over her shoulder.

His familiar scent, mixed with the heat from his body after the game, wrapped around her. Xu En’tang’s body tensed involuntarily.

Lu Jin: “Standing so far away—are you hoping my injury isn’t bad enough? Want me to fall again?”

“…”

Xu En’tang stepped a little closer.

Suddenly, the weight on her shoulder grew heavier. She staggered, almost losing her balance, but Lu Jin swiftly caught her.

It seemed like his injured foot had taken some strain—Xu En’tang heard him let out a sharp hiss.

Xu En’tang: “…I didn’t mean to.”

Lu Jin didn’t say anything. “Let’s go.”

His breath brushed against the top of her head.

Yu Xiyue called over a male student to help escort them out.

With someone else lending a hand, the weight pressing down on Xu En’tang lightened significantly.

Yu Xiyue reminded them, “Be careful on the way. Call me if anything happens.”

“Got it.”

Xu En’tang and the student from the International Class supported Lu Jin as they left the gymnasium.

They walked slowly.

The student chatted with Lu Jin about the game as they went.

Lu Jin had played for so long and even gotten injured, so he was clearly exhausted. He responded lazily, only saying a few words here and there.

For the most part, it was the other student doing the talking.

Glancing past Lu Jin, the student looked at Xu En’tang and said, “Yu Xiyue mentioned that you noticed Experiment Class’s No. 5 pulling dirty tricks early on. You also figured out Lu Jin’s plan for the fourth quarter, right?”

Lu Jin turned his head slightly, somewhat surprised, and looked at Xu En’tang. His gaze swept downward, landing at the curve of her neck.

Her skin was strikingly fair, cool and delicate, like a quiet flower—one that any passing butterfly would be drawn to.

The student continued, “Do you usually watch basketball?”

Lu Jin shifted his gaze away and casually asked, “Yeah? Whose games do you watch?”

The student teased, “Must be some guy, right?”

As Lu Jin spoke, the vibrations of his voice resonated through his chest, transferring through the part of Xu En’tang’s shoulder pressed against him.
