Cold winds, laced with spring rain, slowly seeped into the city, like an emotionless hunter silently infiltrating its prey.
In a villa district within the Second Ring, a second-floor bedroom window of a small standalone house wasn’t fully closed. Faint strains of music drifted through the gap, only to be quickly swallowed by the pattering rain, lost to the night breeze.
The master bedroom was spacious, bathed in the warm glow of soft lighting. In the corner, a small vinyl record player spun, releasing a tender, lingering melody.
Above the headboard of a king-sized wooden bed hung a delicately framed wedding photo.
In the picture, a young and beautiful woman cradled a bouquet of white flowers, tilting her head slightly as she leaned gently against her tall and handsome husband’s shoulder, smiling radiantly.
At this moment, however, the woman in the photo sat cross-legged at the foot of the bed in a rather ungraceful posture. One foot dangled off the edge, bare toes resting on the cool gray wooden floor, unconsciously trembling.
Her right fist was clenched tightly, and she bit nervously at her thumbnail.
Just looking at her, one could feel the tension and unease radiating from her.
They really do look like a perfect match, a couple made in heaven.
Ruan Chuchu glanced at the wedding photo on the wall and sighed inwardly.
In the twenty minutes since she transmigrated here, the fragmented memories she received told her one undeniable fact—
The original owner of this body and her husband, Gu Yu, were seen by those around them as the epitome of a loving, model couple.
Gu Yu, the third son of the prestigious Gu family in the capital, was an Oxford graduate with the refined manners of an English gentleman.
Tall, handsome, and gentle, he was the ideal heir of a wealthy family—noble yet unpretentious.
The Gu Corporation employed thousands, and anyone who had interacted with President Gu had nothing but praise for him.
When he first joined the family business upon returning to China, the company’s single female employees were all eager for his attention, dreaming of a fairy-tale romance with their charming and wealthy CEO.
At the time, a bold female colleague even posted on social media:
“With how perfect Young Master Gu is, spending my entire fortune to be his mistress for just a week would still be a steal!”
During a company gathering not long after, someone who had a little too much to drink jokingly brought up that post in front of Gu Yu.
The room instantly fell into an awkward silence. All eyes turned toward Gu Yu and the female colleague, ears perked up in anticipation.
The woman’s face turned beet red. She trembled as she raised her glass, trying to apologize but too afraid to speak.
Then, Gu Yu smiled gently and lifted his left hand, revealing his wedding ring. “While the return on investment does sound appealing, I’m afraid I must decline—for the sake of keeping Mrs. Gu happy.”
Just like that, he effortlessly defused the awkward situation. His reputation as a devoted and faithful husband spread far and wide.
Even among the elites of the business world, it was well known that the third son of the Gu family was completely devoted to his wife.
He never missed a single jewelry launch featuring her, and at any event requiring a female companion, if his wife was unavailable, he would rather attend alone than bring someone else.
To employees, they were the perfect prince-and-princess couple.
To the capital’s business circle, they were the ultimate example of love blossoming from a strategic marriage.
But only Ruan Chuchu knew the truth.
She had transmigrated into a minor cannon-fodder character from a dramatic romance novel she read two years ago.
And her husband—Gu Yu—was the biggest villain of the entire story.
Beneath his warm and gentlemanly façade lurked a deeply disturbed, obsessive maniac.
He never loved his wife. This harmonious marriage was nothing more than an elaborate illusion he carefully constructed.
Everything he possessed—his intelligence, wealth, charm, and even love—was merely a means to an end, a tool he wielded with ruthless precision.
He was a meticulously scheming predator in human clothing, willing to hide behind a mask for years, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing. A sinister, deceitful, and utterly deranged madman.
And now, she was married to this lunatic. QAQ
Ruan Chuchu hugged herself tightly, trembling as tears threatened to spill.
The worst part?
The original owner’s memories told her one terrifying thing—
Very soon, her cunning villain of a husband would be arriving in their bedroom… to fulfill his marital duties.
As a “perfect husband,” even at night, he was always gentle and restrained.
This man even approached intimacy with a calculated precision, as if it were a pre-programmed routine.
From the first touch to the final whispered “I love you,” he executed everything flawlessly, never missing a beat.
And half an hour ago, before coming upstairs, the original owner had given him a rather suggestive kiss.
If Gu Yu hadn’t been busy replying to emails, the two of them would probably already be doing the indescribable by now…
Ruan Chuchu was on the verge of losing her mind!
She hadn’t even given away her first kiss, and now she was about to lose everything?!
Knock, knock, knock.
A few soft knocks sounded at the door, and then the bedroom door was pushed open from the outside as a tall man walked in.
Ruan Chuchu instinctively turned to look.
Gu Yu was wearing a robe, the dark green sash loosely tied around his waist, exposing a section of his well-defined chest. His hair was still slightly damp, casually falling over his forehead.
He was certainly diligent—he had just said he would come up after finishing work, and in less than half an hour, he was already prepared.
If it were the original host, she would surely be delighted to see such an alluring sight of a handsome man fresh out of the shower.
But at this moment, Ruan Chuchu had no appreciation for it at all. Instead, her hair was practically standing on end!
Gu Yu!
The deepest-hidden final boss!!
Standing right there in the flesh!!!
