The Lost Tomb: Mission Progress Bar – Chapter 6

Chapter 6

“Don’t make a fuss.”

Zhang Qiling held Wu Xie down with one hand while using the other to pet a small dog.

Fatty couldn’t help but wonder—was there something going on between these two?

Wu Xie continued to struggle. He wanted to get out. This illusion, though beautiful, was dangerous. What if… what if Xiao Ge… was actually alive?

The more he thought about it, the more unbearable it became, especially as he lay in Xiao Ge’s arms, which felt so painfully real.

“Xiao Tianzhen! Xiao Ge, let go of him—he’s fainted! Doctor!”

Fatty dashed out of the room, rushing to find a doctor for Wu Xie.

“Doctor, why did he suddenly pass out? Did he suffer internal injuries?”

Both Fatty and Zhang Qiling stared at the doctor, anxious for her response, afraid that she would speak something cold and cruel from her warm lips.

“It’s just an emotional shock. Nothing serious.”

The beautiful female doctor removed the monitoring equipment and reassured the two worried “family members.”

“Ah, ah, thank you, Doctor! You’re as kind as you are beautiful!”

Zhang Qiling pulled Fatty back from the door. “Check Wu Xie’s lungs.”

“Lungs? You think there’s something wrong with his lungs? Damn, I’ll arrange it right away!”

Fatty rushed off to the reception desk.

Zhang Qiling sat beside Wu Xie’s hospital bed, silently watching him.

Then, suddenly, he smiled—soundlessly. His hand gently brushed over Wu Xie’s eyes, then down his arm, stopping at his leg.

A wave of sadness spread around him, yet there was also a hint of joy mixed within.

When Fatty returned, he saw Wu Xie lying quietly on the bed. And Xiao Ge—the man who seemed untouchable, like a god—was holding Wu Xie’s hand, a single tear rolling down his face.

This was something Xiao Ge had never done before.

Normally, even the slightest change in his expression was enough to leave an impression on people. But this trip to the Queen Mother of the West’s palace… it had changed him a lot.

Could it be that the Queen Mother of the West cured his face paralysis? That would make this trip totally worth it.

“Xiao Ge, everything is arranged. We’ll push Xiao Tianzhen to get his scans done in a bit.”

Fatty glanced at Wu Xie, then at Xiao Ge. Eventually, he couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Xiao Ge, what’s going on with you two? You both feel really weird. Maybe we should check Xiao Tianzhen’s head, too.”

Fatty didn’t dare suggest checking Xiao Ge’s head as well.

“No need. Wu Xie thinks this is an illusion. He’ll be fine once he wakes up.”

“An illusion? When did he get caught in one? And how could it still be affecting him?”

“Will he have any aftereffects?”

Zhang Qiling stared at the anxious Fatty, his gaze filled with a strange uncertainty. It was as if he himself hadn’t fully returned either.

“He won’t.”

At least, he shouldn’t. He just needs to sleep it off. Wu Xie… should wake up the same way I did.

Hearing Xiao Ge’s words, Fatty relaxed. After all, Xiao Ge’s judgment was more reliable than any doctor’s. If he said there was no problem, then there was no problem.

Fatty looked at Wu Xie’s lung scans from every possible angle but couldn’t make sense of them.

“Doctor, what’s going on? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

“He’s perfectly fine. Nothing wrong at all. You young people should smoke less. Otherwise, when you get older, your lungs will turn black.”

The elderly doctor gave his advice as he packed up his things, quickly calling in the next patient.

Fatty and Zhang Qiling wheeled Wu Xie back to his hospital room. The two of them stared at Wu Xie in silence.

Fatty stared for a long time before falling into deep thought.

According to Xiao Ge, Wu Xie believed he was trapped in an illusion, which was why his behavior was so strange.

But they hadn’t been exposed to any hallucinogens or placed in any special environment.

And yet, Wu Xie’s actions in this so-called illusion were too bizarre. He was absolutely convinced that Xiao Ge was fake.

Which meant… he really trusted me, huh?

But if he thought Xiao Ge was fake, then why, back in the desert…

Fatty’s eyes suddenly darted between Xiao Ge’s mouth and Wu Xie’s.
