The next day, Zheng Xunqian unexpectedly didn’t come to class.
Until the bell rang, the seat to Jing Tian’s left remained empty.
In these days, Jing Tian mostly sat in the same spot in the classroom, and Zheng Xunqian always sat next to him as a matter of course.
Although there wasn’t much communication during class, after class, they would go eat together or go to the study room.
For Jing Tian, this had almost become a habit.
“Have you two completely fallen out?” Yang Yue asked softly, sitting to his right.
Jing Tian kept his head down and remained silent.
Zheng Xunqian was a strange person.
In the past, Jing Tian always assumed that diligent students with excellent grades should be like himself, paying attention in class and studying seriously at home.
But Zheng Xunqian’s attitude in class was extremely casual, more like someone who wasn’t focused on studying and just wanted to pass the time.
Most of the time, he was playing with his phone or reading some idle books he brought with him, or even sleeping on the desk.
Occasionally, he would lift his head to listen to the lecture, but it wouldn’t last more than ten minutes before he started doing his own thing again.
For him, attending class seemed to be a very boring thing.
The knowledge that Jing Tian concentrated so hard to absorb during class but still couldn’t immediately digest, Zheng Xunqian only needed to listen casually, not worth spending too much effort on.
Sitting with him often made Jing Tian feel frustrated because of the huge gap between them.
He secretly complained that Zheng Xunqian probably didn’t even need to come to class. With his abilities, self-study would be more efficient and save time.
And now, he really wasn’t coming.
“Has he contacted you since then?” Yang Yue asked again.
No, not at all.
They hadn’t spoken on the phone after that, and their message exchange ended with the last sentence, “start chaos, end in abandonment.”
Jing Tian shook his head and asked, “Did he often skip class before?”
Yang Yue showed a hesitant expression. “How would I know? I didn’t pay that much attention to him.”
Right, who would bother to pay attention to whether an unfamiliar classmate came to class every day? Jing Tian sighed inwardly, then thought again that his past self probably knew the answer and might have even recorded it in that notebook.
Their current situation was really strange.
Jing Tian told himself that the unease in his heart wasn’t because of disappointment or unwillingness, but objectively speaking, the current situation was a bit unreasonable.
After all, they had been involved in a relationship. To completely ignore it and cut it off so decisively seemed too cold-hearted.
But the one who sneaked away and didn’t reply to messages was himself.
Jing Tian lifted his head, looking serious at the podium, but he didn’t hear anything the teacher was saying.
Maybe he should take the initiative to contact him?
Just ask him if he’s willing to continue tutoring him.
If not, it’s okay, he won’t force it.
At least, he still had that comprehensive document package and could try to self-study, just a bit more laborious.
After class, Yang Yue had fallen asleep again.
Jing Tian couldn’t help but sigh. This guy was always half asleep in class but never failed any courses, truly the god of last-minute cramming for exams.
After packing up, he woke Yang Yue up, and as he did, a pretty girl walked from the back of the classroom to the front row where they were sitting and sat down facing them.
The girl smiled at Jing Tian, who hurriedly returned the gesture politely.
He remembered this girl.
On the first day he attended class after losing his memory, she had also greeted him proactively.
“Don’t remember me, right?” The girl smiled and reached out her hand to him. “I’m Zhao Qinqing. We used to get along quite well.”
As soon as she said that, Jing Tian immediately remembered.
A few days ago, a girl named Zhao Qinqing had chatted with him on WeChat, asking about his situation.
At that time, Jing Tian had specifically asked Yang Yue, who told him that she was the beautiful class monitor who had almost been made to cry by Zheng Xunqian.
In reality, Jing Tian found that this girl not only looked beautiful but also had an open-minded demeanor and seemed very elegant.
This contrasted even more with Zheng Xunqian’s peculiarity.
“Are you looking for Jing Tian?” Yang Yue finally woke up and, while rubbing his face, asked with a smile.
“Not looking for him, looking for you,” Zhao Qinqing said with a smile. “There’s something I need to tell you, you’ve got to give me face.”
Yang Yue was curious. “What’s up?”
“At yesterday’s class meeting, neither of you showed up,” Zhao Qinqing said. “We decided on the performance program and participants for next month’s school anniversary celebration during the meeting, and you’re on the list.”
Yang Yue looked puzzled. “What?”
Zhao Qinqing smiled sweetly at him. “It was decided by a vote of all the students who attended the meeting.”
Five minutes later, Yang Yue was dumbfounded.
The class meeting was held at eight o’clock last night, but they didn’t attend because they were going to the bar to dance.
They thought it would just be a routine gathering with some meaningless chatter that no one cared about. They didn’t expect there would be important matters discussed this time, and because they weren’t there to oppose it, they were now trapped.
The initially planned performance program was just a regular song and dance performance, but when it came to selecting participants, they quickly realized there was a problem.
There weren’t enough girls in their class. The seven girls varied greatly in height, with the shortest being less than five feet and the tallest over six feet, making them look very uneven when standing together.
Someone came up with the idea of having a suitable tall boy do a cross-dressing performance.
Because the selected songs were lighthearted and not serious, this suggestion quickly gained unanimous approval, even Teacher Xia was happy to see it happen.
But the question was, who would do it?
So they decided to nominate first and then vote.
Almost all the absent members that day were nominated, and in the end, the votes were concentrated on two people.
When Jing Tian heard the result, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
He narrowly escaped with four votes against him.
Unfortunately, Yang Yue wasn’t so lucky.
“As the person involved, don’t I have a say?” Yang Yue exclaimed in shock.
“Everyone is looking forward to it,” Zhao Qinqing clasped her hands together in front of her face, looking sincerely at him. “Please, do us this favor?”
Yang Yue wore a wry smile. “But…”
“If you really don’t want to…” Zhao Qinqing glanced at Jing Tian, “the runner-up in the vote can also do it.”
Jing Tian was startled and quickly shook his head, stepping back hastily.
“You also think Yang Yue is more suitable, right?” Zhao Qinqing said to him.
Jing Tian looked at Yang Yue, wanting to nod but feeling embarrassed.
Yang Yue had fair skin, a delicate appearance, soft features, and a somewhat neutral look.
The first thing Jing Tian thought when he woke up after losing his memory and saw him was “handsome.”
With so many absentees from the class meeting, the fact that Yang Yue received so many votes undoubtedly meant that the guys in the class were eagerly anticipating seeing him in women’s clothing.
Feeling Yang Yue’s pleading gaze, Jing Tian felt guilty.
What should he do? He kind of wanted to see it too.
“…How about giving it a try?” he whispered to Yang Yue.
Seeing Yang Yue’s widened eyes, he hurriedly added, pointing at Zhao Qinqing, “But don’t let her pressure you.”
It was hard to refuse a sincere request from a girl like Zhao Qinqing.
Yang Yue sighed and slapped the table. “Alright, as a man, what’s wearing a dress anyway!”
“If it were you chosen, I would definitely help you come up with an excuse to escape,” Yang Yue grumbled over lunch, still resentful. “And you, how can you treat me like this?”
“I’m sorry, my bad, it’s all my fault,” Jing Tian didn’t resist at all, lowering his head on the spot. “Consider this meal on me.”
“You owe me a meal anyway!” Yang Yue retorted.
“Then…I’ll treat you next time too!” Jing Tian promised.
Yang Yue sighed. “You only have this one trick.”
As long as it works, Jing Tian thought.
“Do you have time later?” Yang Yue asked. “Accompany me there?”
Zhao Qinqing just said that time was tight, and the first rehearsal was scheduled for this afternoon, hoping everyone could be there.
“I have to retake a class this afternoon,” Jing Tian said remorsefully.
Yang Yue gave him a disdainful look. “Can’t rely on you for anything.”
…….
Jing Tian had just walked into the classroom when someone loudly greeted him.
“Senior, over here!” Shu Ziqin waved his arms somewhat exaggeratedly at him. “You’re early today too!”
Jing Tian smiled at him and sat in the seat next to him.
This little junior was outgoing and friendly, always greeting him and inviting him to sit together whenever they saw each other in class.
Jing Tian had a good impression of him, willing to interact with him and enjoyed listening to him talk.
But unexpectedly, this cute junior brought up the matter as soon as he arrived today.
“Why are you the only one here?” Shu Ziqin asked. “Where’s Senior Zheng Xunqian? Isn’t he coming today?”
“He…” Jing Tian felt extremely awkward. “He’s busy.”
Originally, it was only me who needed to retake a class, so it doesn’t matter whether he comes or not.
“How nice your relationship is,” Shu Ziqin sighed. “Even though he doesn’t need to listen, he always comes with you. Unlike me, I can’t even find someone to chat with. I envy you so much.”
Jing Tian grinned awkwardly. “Heh.”
“It’s okay,” Shu Ziqin smiled. “With you here, I’m not afraid of not finding someone to talk to during class.”
“You always talk in class, and the teacher already remembers you,” Jing Tian said.
“It’s okay, the teacher’s attention is all on Senior Zheng Xunqian,” Shu Ziqin said. “He’s not here today, so the two of us immediately become invisible.”
Why does he keep bringing him up, Jing Tian thought.
“Oh, by the way, what is he busy with?” Shu Ziqin asked again.
How would I know.
This kid, a bit too noisy.
For the first time, Jing Tian wished he would shut up quickly.
“Don’t you know?” Shu Ziqin asked. “Your relationship is so good, didn’t he tell you?”
He asked casually, not really serious, obviously just trying to make conversation, but Jing Tian couldn’t ignore it either.
“We are two independent individuals.”
Jing Tian said.
And besides, our relationship is not that great.
The connection between them was so fragile that it could be completely severed unilaterally with ease.
Jing Tian lowered his head and opened his book. “Stop talking about him.”
Shu Ziqin looked puzzled for a few seconds, finally realizing something. “Are you guys fighting?”
“No.”
Jing Tian answered quickly.
Shu Ziqin remained quiet for a few seconds, then said, “It’s okay, everyone goes through this, it’ll be fine in a few days.”
