The banquet hall was lavishly decorated, with ornate chandeliers that resembled a medieval palace.
Xu Chunian looked at the extravagant scene, she had actually made it into this grand dinner party!
As soon as they entered, people came up to them with compliments. Perhaps the commotion at the entrance was too loud, and everyone was slightly surprised to see them together.
“Chunian.”
Xu Chunian followed the voice and looked over.
Shen Qingli was wearing a blue and white evening gown. She had a slightly alluring appearance but was naturally aloof, and the dress reflected that.
The collision of aloofness and allure was unexpectedly harmonious.
“Ali.” Xu Chunian reached out and linked her arm with Shen Qingli’s.
The moment she linked arms, the man’s eyes became obscure, and the probing look in his eyes deepened.
“Stay with me and don’t wander off,” Shen Qingli whispered, completely oblivious to the man’s unusual expression.
“I know.” Xu Chunian put her hand to her lips. “In novels, something unusual always happens at dinner parties.”
Shen Qingli laughed.
Xu Chunian turned her head. “You can give Zhuzhu to me. You go ahead and do your thing.”
Dinner parties were also places for men to socialize.
Jiang Huaixu finally put Zhuzhu down, and she took Xu Chunian’s hand.
They found a corner seat, and Xu Chunian ordered a glass of orange juice for Zhuzhu.
“This is too much.”
The scene was dazzling, with fragrant clothes and dazzling lights, making people’s eyes go blurry.
“When you were 24, you attended countless dinner parties like this,” Shen Qingli said.
Xu Chunian was about to say something when there was a commotion nearby. She looked over.
Even though it was a relatively formal banquet, the man in the distance was dressed like a flamboyant butterfly. He had a frivolous demeanor, and he casually scanned the area. When his eyes fell on Xu Chunian, he paused for a second and then looked away.
Xu Chunian didn’t pay much attention, but when she turned her head, she met Shen Qingli’s probing gaze.
“Who’s that flamboyant butterfly?”
“Qin Yuan.”
Xu Chunian nonchalantly said “Oh,” and then suddenly exclaimed, “Who?”
Shen Qingli lowered her voice. “He’s the one you were going to divorce Jiang Huaixu for when you were 24.”
Xu Chunian was speechless. Looking at the man who was about to be surrounded, her expression became intriguing. This man was completely different from Jiang Huaixu.
One looked refined and abstinent, while the other was frivolous. Neither of them looked like decent men.
“I’m really hungry.”
“You’re really hungry.” It was obvious that Shen Qingli didn’t like this type either.
She smelled something sweet. Xu Chunian lowered her head, and Zhuzhu fed her the small cake in her hand.
“Thank you, baby.” Xu Chunian took it.
Zhuzhu then fed another small cake to Shen Qingli.
Shen Qingli pinched her little face.
Xu Chunian caught a glimpse of a small figure out of the corner of her eye. It was the little girl who had played on the slide with Zhuzhu that day, being led by a woman.
The woman nodded with a faint smile when she saw them.
Xu Chunian returned the smile, but before she could turn back, Zhuzhu jumped off the sofa and handed the small cake to Nuo Nuo.
“Thank you, little sister.”
Zhuzhu smiled softly at her.
“You’re so cute. Are you here by yourself, sweetie?” The woman in the red dress squatted down in front of her.
Zhuzhu pointed at Xu Chunian, who was walking over.
“Hello.”
The woman seemed to be stunned for a moment, then she laughed. “You look so young, and you already have a child.”
Xu Chunian smiled back, “You too, you’re so young.”
“Hello, I’m Ji Changning.” The woman curled her lips into a smile.
“Hello, I’m Xu Chunian.”
Ji Changning raised an eyebrow. “I’ve heard of you.”
“It’s definitely not good news,” Xu Chunian said half joking.
Ji Changning shrugged. “It’s nothing. After all, there are no fewer bad rumors about me.”
The two women smiled at each other.
