Hearing him making a fuss behind him, Yang Yue, not far away, was inevitably curious, but the game he was playing on his phone was only halfway through, so he couldn’t spare the time to care.
Even though their relationship was good, Jing Tian didn’t want to make a big deal out of this embarrassing situation.
Taking advantage of the fact that Yang Yue hadn’t finished a round yet, he quickly grabbed his phone and escaped from the dormitory.
Just as he reached downstairs, he received a message from Zheng Xunqian.
Jing Tian clicked on it and was dumbfounded.
“Oh.”
What does this mean?
Was their conversation over just like that?
After being stunned for a few seconds, Jing Tian regretted it.
After finally starting a conversation, it was clearly an opportunity, but it ended like this, such a pity.
Should he take the initiative to say something else? Should he return the tablet? Can he still continue tutoring? I encountered two difficult problems just now, are you available to help me solve them?
Why didn’t you come to class today?
Standing downstairs in the dormitory, Jing Tian took a deep breath and gathered courage secretly.
Before he could prepare himself, the phone rang again.
Zheng Xunqian took the initiative to call him.
Jing Tian still felt nervous when he answered: “…What’s up?”
“Just teasing you,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I didn’t back it up.”
“Really.”
Zheng Xunqian emphasized.
Jing Tian lowered his head and muttered softly, “You’re so cruel.”
“Are you bored?” Zheng Xunqian said, “That you’re taking these kinds of photos.”
Jing Tian’s face immediately turned red again, wanting to retort, but couldn’t find the words.
Zheng Xunqian’s voice carried a hint of amusement, “What are you thinking about?”
None of your business! Jing Tian cursed inwardly, but couldn’t say it out loud.
After the impulsive rush of anger just now, he couldn’t be tough anymore.
“Did you deliberately send it to me?”
“No!…You’re so narcissistic.”
Jing Tian said.
Zheng Xunqian didn’t mind, “Am I?”
Jing Tian didn’t want to discuss this issue with him, so he thought for a moment and turned to a topic he cared more about, “You didn’t come to class today.”
“Yeah.”
Zheng Xunqian answered, but didn’t explain.
Jing Tian could only ask again, “Why?”
“I’m sick and didn’t want to move,” Zheng Xunqian said, “Just resting.”
Jing Tian was surprised, “What’s wrong? What illness? Is it serious?”
“Maybe I caught a cold,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I have a bit of a fever.”
Jing Tian was taken aback.
While he was still stunned, Zheng Xunqian continued, “I wore clothes that weren’t dry yesterday, and I ran around in circles to get breakfast for someone.”
“Why aren’t you speaking?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
Furrowing his brows, Jing Tian cautiously asked, “Is the fever severe?”
“I don’t know,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I didn’t check.”
Jing Tian was very worried, “Don’t you have a thermometer? If you don’t want to go out, I’ll buy one for you.”
“No need,” Zheng Xunqian said, “It’s not serious, I know.”
“But…”
Zheng Xunqian interrupted him, “I want to eat the signature hot pot on the second floor of the cafeteria, but I feel dizzy and don’t want to go there myself.”
After a moment of speechlessness, Jing Tian said, “You should eat something lighter when you’re sick.”
“Well, how about the tofu fish head hot pot then?”
Zheng Xunqian said.
Sighing inwardly, Jing Tian said, “Okay.”
The portion of the fish head hot pot in the cafeteria was quite large, and it couldn’t fit into one takeaway box. It had to be packed into two, along with a box of rice, making it a bit heavy to carry.
Walking on the road, Jing Tian suddenly remembered something.
Not long ago, Chu Chen Tao, who had torn his face with him because of rejection, said in the cafeteria that he had specially packed and delivered food for him because he wanted to eat but was too lazy to go to the cafeteria himself.
Now, he was doing the same thing.
Zheng Xunqian was the only one in his dormitory.
Contrary to his expectations, this person wasn’t lying on the bed, and his condition didn’t seem too bad. His expression was no different from usual.
“…Are you really feverish?” Jing Tian asked suspiciously after putting the takeaway on the table.
Zheng Xunqian walked over to him, grabbed his hand, and pressed it against his forehead.
“What do you think?” He asked Jing Tian.
Jing Tian felt an unnatural warmth from the palm of his hand pressed against Zheng Xunqian’s skin, feeling a bit flustered, he quickly withdrew his hand: “At least go to the infirmary?”
“No need, it’s just a cold,” Zheng Xunqian reached out and unwrapped the takeaway packaging, “I’ve taken medicine.”
As he spoke, he glanced at Jing Tian sideways, “Someone cares, and I’ll be fine soon.”
Implied in his words was blaming Jing Tian for leaving without a word yesterday and then ignoring him.
Jing Tian thought to himself, how would I know you were sick if you didn’t say anything?
But if he said it like that, Zheng Xunqian would probably bring up the past again.
Yesterday, he had left first and stopped replying unilaterally, which was indeed somewhat unfair.
“Have you been in the dormitory all day today?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Zheng Xunqian sat down at the table and picked up a spoon, taking a sip of soup, “Feeling unwell, didn’t want to move.”
It was almost dinner time now, wouldn’t he be hungry all day like this?
“…You should have told me earlier.”
Jing Tian said.
Zheng Xunqian didn’t answer his question, but pushed the unopened meal box on the table in his direction: “Let’s eat together?”
The contents of the two packed boxes were the same, and the portion was so large that Zheng Xunqian definitely couldn’t finish it alone.
Jing Tian didn’t refuse and sat down beside him.
It was strange.
Less than an hour ago, he thought his relationship with Zheng Xunqian would be completely over, and they would be strangers from then on.
But now, they sat together, eating delicious fish soup with rice, as if nothing had happened.
Jing Tian hesitated inwardly, should he continue to play dumb and pretend that nothing had happened?
“Oh, by the way,” Zheng Xunqian suddenly said, “you haven’t told me why you wanted to take those kinds of pictures.”
Jing Tian almost choked.
“It’s none of your business!” he finally exclaimed.
“It is my business, you used my tablet to take them,” Zheng Xunqian calmly picked up a piece of fish with his chopsticks, “and now it’s dirty.”
“…” Jing Tian widened his eyes.
He was a little angry.
After running around so hard, delivering food to this jerk without complaint, he was actually being insulted.
Zheng Xunqian was really too much.
“The food you’re eating was bought by me!” he said.
Zheng Xunqian looked at him, “Thank you.”
Jing Tian was speechless again.
“Although you abandoned me after starting all this chaos.”
Zheng Xunqian said.
“I…” Jing Tian lowered his head, “How would I know you were sick!”
Zheng Xunqian didn’t say anything, quietly drinking his soup.
“You’re really annoying,” Jing Tian couldn’t help it, he blurted out all his thoughts, “Are you deliberately trying to make me angry?”
Zheng Xunqian put down his chopsticks, “…Why would I?”
“You are, and soon,” Jing Tian raised his head to glare at him, “you’re making me angry right now.”
Zheng Xunqian stared at him for a moment, then inexplicably smiled.
“Sorry,” he said as he lowered his gaze, “maybe a little, I’m sorry.”
Jing Tian’s face suddenly turned red, and he hastily looked away, not saying anything.
“I didn’t come to class, and you didn’t care.”
Zheng Xunqian said.
“I…” Jing Tian stirred the fish soup in the meal box with a spoon, “I thought you were avoiding me.”
“Clearly, you’re the one avoiding me,” Zheng Xunqian said, “the guilty party always complains first.”
He fell silent, and Zheng Xunqian didn’t say anything more.
Zheng Xunqian had been hungry all day, but his appetite wasn’t great. He only took a few bites of his meal and drank some soup before putting down his chopsticks.
“You should eat more when you’re sick to recover faster.”
Jing Tian said.
“You still haven’t told me why you wanted to take…”
“You’re so annoying!” Jing Tian shouted.
Zheng Xunqian laughed out loud, “I’m just too curious.”
If he didn’t answer this question, this guy would probably keep asking endlessly.
Jing Tian had no choice but to blush and honestly confess.
“I wanted to see what my tattoo on my back looks like.”
“Why not ask someone to take a photo for you?” Zheng Xunqian said.
Seeing Jing Tian frowning and remaining silent, he quickly realized the problem and reached out to Jing Tian: “Give me your phone, I’ll take the photo for you.”
Jing Tian moved back a bit, “No need.”
Joking aside, that would mean he’d have to drop his pants and bend over in front of Zheng Xunqian.
“It doesn’t matter,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I’ve seen it before.”
“…No need.”
Jing Tian insisted firmly.
Zheng Xunqian sighed and withdrew his hand, “You really don’t remember at all?”
Jing Tian felt extremely nervous, but still stiffly nodded, “Hmm.”
Zheng Xunqian seemed pensive.
“You, you should eat some more…” Jing Tian reached out, pointed at the meal box, and pushed it towards him.
“I can help you remember.”
Zheng Xunqian said.
“Huh?” Jing Tian blinked, and when he understood Zheng Xunqian’s implication, he leaned back in shock, “No need!”
“Don’t be nervous,” Zheng Xunqian looked at him calmly, “This is the dormitory, my roommate could come back anytime.”
Wouldn’t that make people even more uneasy!
Jing Tian moved his chair back along with him.
“It’s not like I’m asking for a demonstration,” Zheng Xunqian continued, “You were the one who took the initiative at the time.”
Jing Tian blinked twice, “What?”
“Otherwise, how would I end up completely soaked?” Zheng Xunqian calmly looked at him, “That was completely unexpected for me.”
You’re lying! Jing Tian shouted in his mind, clearly it was you who turned on the shower yourself!
Unfortunately, he couldn’t argue back, so he could only take the blame silently.
Zheng Xunqian glanced at him, then let out a shallow sigh, “You also promised me something very important.”
After a moment of brief confusion, Jing Tian’s mind conjured up a scene.
That night, in the midst of kissing him, Zheng Xunqian had asked him with a tone of negotiation if he could like him one more time.
How had he responded at the time?
Jing Tian couldn’t remember.
His memory was fuzzy, like being nearsighted and having his glasses taken off, and his ears being covered.
Once again, that indescribable resistance and panic surged in his heart.
He could guess his answer, but he didn’t want to admit it.
“Still can’t remember?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
“Forgot,” Jing Tian turned his head away from him, “drunk words are not to be taken seriously.”
“I see,” Zheng Xunqian said, “but I’ve already believed it.”
