Lingering Game
Lingering Game chapter 35

The school’s computer room was not open to ordinary students outside of class time, so being here at this moment definitely meant there’s something serious going on.

Jing Tian was also pleasantly surprised and smiled at him, saying, “I’m helping the teacher organize assignments. What about you?”

“My computer broke down, so I came here to borrow one and submit my assignments,” Shu Ziqin said.

Being able to use this excuse to borrow a computer in the computer room showed that Shu Ziqin had a pretty good relationship with the teacher. It was no wonder, as this junior’s personality was indeed very likable.

Shu Ziqin sat down in the seat where Yang Yue had been sitting just now and asked, “Is this the teacher’s background for grading?”

Jing Tian leaned over to take a look and said, “Why hasn’t he logged out…”

“Wow, there are so many,” Shu Ziqin scrolled through the list, “Is the teacher asking you to help with grading?”

“No, just helping with printing,” Jing Tian said.

Most assignments were submitted online now, but the old man was not proficient with computers and didn’t like to use them. He prefered to print them out and then grade them manually.

The school’s self-designed system was still being tested and improved, not very user-friendly, and lacked direct printing functionality. You needed to manually download the documents and import them into a document before printing them.

The old man couldn’t figure it out, so he pulled the two of them over to help.

The task itself wasn’t difficult, but it couldn’t be done in batches, which was very troublesome.

“How long are you going to do this alone?” Shu Ziqin asked. “Let me help you?”

Jing Tian was surprised. “No need, this task is quite boring, I…”

“Well, that’s perfect,” Shu Ziqin interrupted him with a smile, “I’m free right now, and chatting together will make it less boring. How do you do it? Teach me.”

Jing Tian was touched. “Thank you, I’ll treat you to dinner!”

“Okay, great,” Shu Ziqin said happily. “Can we order from the second floor of the cafeteria?”

Shu Ziqin was quick and nimble, and also talkative. With him around, both in terms of workload and psychologically, Jing Tian felt much more relaxed.

They worked together for more than ten minutes when Jing Tian’s phone rang.

Zheng Xunqian, who he hadn’t been in touch with for half a day, finally sent a message.

“Are you still going to the study room later?”

They had originally planned to have lunch together at noon, and according to their usual habits, they should go to the study room for self-study in the afternoon.

Jing Tian was apprehensive. Clearly, it was his fault for breaking their appointment, but since Zheng Xunqian didn’t come to ask, he didn’t want to contact him proactively either.

Now that Zheng Xunqian had spoken first, his mood suddenly improved, and he immediately gave up his pretentiousness and replied in great detail.

“I might not be able to make it. I’m in the computer room on the fourth floor helping the teacher organize things. I don’t know how long it will take.”

After sending the message, he continued working while occasionally checking his phone. After more than ten minutes, there was still no response.

What’s wrong with Zheng Xunqian? Is he not even going to reply with an “okay”?

Just as he was thinking, his phone vibrated again.

The screen still showed Zheng Xunqian’s name, but this time, it wasn’t a message, but a call.

“Come out and meet me,” Zheng Xunqian’s tone on the phone was as calm as usual. “I can’t get in.”

“Huh?” Jing Tian didn’t react for a moment.

“The computer room won’t let me in,” Zheng Xunqian explained. “I need you to come out and meet me.”

Jing Tian quickly stood up. “Oh, okay!”

“Hi,” Shu Ziqin, who was at the computer, saw Zheng Xunqian from a distance and immediately smiled and greeted him, “Senior, are you here to help too?”

Zheng Xunqian’s steps hesitated slightly, and he nodded to him, “Yeah.”

Jing Tian sat in the corner of the row, leaning against the wall on the left, and Shu Ziqin was on his right.

“You can find a seat anywhere,” Jing Tian said.

Standing behind Shu Ziqin, Zheng Xunqian looked at him, silent, not knowing what he was thinking.

Shu Ziqin still had a relaxed and cheerful tone, “Actually, the two of us won’t take too long to finish. Why don’t you help out over there and check the printer?”

The printer connected to the computer was in the office on the other side of the wall. After confirming that the printing format was correct initially, they stopped running back and forth and planned to check everything after all the printing was done.

Although this was convenient, there was also some hidden danger. It was best to have someone check it at any time.

As Shu Ziqin spoke, he picked up a sample sheet of paper from the side, “As long as it’s this format, it’s OK!”

Zheng Xunqian looked down at him and said, “You go.”

“Huh?” Shu Ziqin was puzzled and subconsciously asked, “Why?”

“No reason,” Zheng Xunqian said, “This task sounds easier, so I’ll give it to you.”

“It’s okay, I…” Shu Ziqin was interrupted by Zheng Xunqian.

“Go,” Zheng Xunqian said.

Shu Ziqin didn’t understand, but he didn’t insist. He said, “Then let me tell you how to operate it first…”

“It’s okay, you can go,” Zheng Xunqian interrupted him again. “Jing Tian will teach me.”

Shu Ziqin finally realized that something seemed a bit off, but he couldn’t figure it out. With a puzzled look on his face, he nodded and got up to leave.

As soon as Zheng Xunqian sat down, Jing Tian quickly explained in a low voice, “It just happened. I didn’t ask him to come.”

“Oh,” Zheng Xunqian nodded and pointed to the screen. “What should I do?”

Jing Tian leaned over, held the mouse on his desk, and began to demonstrate the operation.

Earlier, when he demonstrated to Shu Ziqin, he sat at the computer while Shu Ziqin stood behind him watching.

Now, they were sitting side by side facing the same computer, and their shoulders inevitably pressed against each other.

So nervous.

To ease his emotions, Jing Tian couldn’t help but become talkative, verbose in his explanations, and kept asking, “Did I explain it clearly?” “Any problems?”

Zheng Xunqian remained silent and just nodded lightly.

The operation itself wasn’t complicated, and the explanation was quickly finished. Jing Tian immediately retreated to his seat.

“That’s it,” he said, lowering his head. “Is it okay?”

Yes,” Zheng Xunqian said. “Are you close with that guy?”

“You mean Shu Ziqin?” Jing Tian said. “Well, kind of.”

Zheng Xunqian glanced at the next room.

The wall between the computer room and the office was half-transparent glass, so everything was visible.

Shu Ziqin was sitting next to the printer, looking bored. When he saw them looking over, he immediately waved and smiled.

“Did he offer to help you?” Zheng Xunqian asked.

“Yeah,” Jing Tian nodded. “He’s a nice guy, very enthusiastic.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Shu Ziqin stood up from the other side of the wall and quickly ran back.

“It’s so boring being alone,” he complained to them. “There doesn’t seem to be any problem with the printing content. I don’t need to check it.”

“Then you should go back,” Zheng Xunqian said. “Thanks for your help.”

“Huh?” Shu Ziqin said, sitting down on the other side of him and opening his computer. “No, I can’t do that. You promised to treat me to dinner.”

Zheng Xunqian glanced at Jing Tian.

Jing Tian shrank his neck and remained silent.

“And, the more people, the more power,” Shu Ziqin said with a smile, opening his browser. “Senior, how do I log in? Let me help you guys.”

After finally finishing printing and binding all the assignments, it was almost dinner time.

As they walked to the cafeteria together, Jing Tian called Yang Yue to ask about his situation and if he wanted to join them for dinner.

Yang Yue’s voice on the other end sounded weary as he said he hadn’t finished yet. He asked if Jing Tian could help pack some dinner for him.

Jing Tian naturally agreed.

After hanging up the phone, he realized it was a bit inconvenient.

If they went late, Yang Yue might be hungry. But since he had promised to treat them, he couldn’t just leave after paying the bill, leaving Shu Ziqin alone to eat.

“It’s okay,” Shu Ziqin said. “You guys are going to watch your friend’s performance, right? I’ll just take the food over, and we can eat together. I’ll also visit for a bit.”

This kid really isn’t shy.

“It’s not a performance, it’s a rehearsal,” Jing Tian explained. “There probably won’t be much to see…”

“It’s okay,” Shu Ziqin said. “Don’t let your friend go hungry. Go ahead!”

Zheng Xunqian, who had been silent, sighed softly, “You have a lot of free time, huh?”

“Yeah,” Shu Ziqin nodded. “I don’t have anything else to do.”

Seeing Zheng Xunqian’s speechless expression, Jing Tian turned his head and smiled.

Their rehearsal venue, borrowed from another class, was pretty good, in the school’s dance studio, with mirrors on all four sides, looking very professional.

It was Jing Tian’s first time there, and he stood at the door looking in, hesitant to enter.

They were carrying a lot of food, so they might get a little greasy. He was afraid they would dirty the clean wooden floor of the dance studio.

There were quite a few people in the dance studio, and he couldn’t see Yang Yue anywhere.

“Which one is your friend?” Shu Ziqin asked curiously.

Jing Tian shook his head and was about to speak when he suddenly froze.

In the farthest corner from the door, a girl with delicate makeup, long black hair, and a knee-length skirt smiled and waved at him.

Jing Tian blinked twice, feeling amazed.

He had already guessed that Yang Yue would probably look good in women’s clothing, but seeing it in person, he was still shocked.

If he didn’t know Yang Yue, at first glance, he wouldn’t be able to tell his true gender, and he would be attracted by his beautiful and pure face.

He’s so good-looking. Jing Tian sighed inwardly. Not only does he have superior looks, but he also has a somewhat otherworldly charm, like a fairy sister in the mortal world.

Even though there were many real girls around him, including Zhao Qinqing, who was recognized as the prettiest girl in their department, they were all overshadowed at the moment.

Yang Yue said a few words to the person next to him and then raised his hand to gesture at Jing Tian, indicating that he should wait in the adjacent classroom for a while, and he would come over soon.

Jing Tian made an OK gesture to him, turned around, and bumped into Shu Ziqin.

Shu Ziqin, who had just sat down, jumped up suddenly.

Yang Yue glanced at him curiously, and he quickly introduced himself loudly, “Hello! I’m Shu Ziqin, I’m…”

Before he could finish, Zheng Xunqian beside him spoke softly, “Does Yang Yue not have a partner?”

Shu Ziqin’s face turned a little red as he lowered his head and asked, “Is she Senior’s girlfriend?”

Jing Tian chuckled. “No, he…”

Before he could finish, Zheng Xunqian, who had been silent, spoke up, “Yang Yue doesn’t have a partner, right?”

Shu Ziqin, with a dazed expression, followed Jing Tian to the adjacent classroom. “Her name is Yang Yue, what a nice name.”

Jing Tian vaguely sensed that something was wrong and hesitated whether he should explain.

The door of the adjacent classroom was open, and no one was inside.

They picked a corner seat and pushed the desks together to serve as a table.

Just as they settled down and sat down, Yang Yue appeared at the door of the classroom.

Shu Ziqin, who had just sat down, jumped up suddenly.

Yang Yue glanced at him curiously, and Shu Ziqin quickly introduced himself loudly, “Hello! I’m Shu Ziqin, I’m…”

Before he could finish, Yang Yue smiled at him.

Jing Tian sighed inwardly again, Wow, so sweet, so beautiful, like a fairy.

Shu Ziqin, who had only spoken halfway, suddenly fell silent.

After politely greeting the stranger, Yang Yue continued to walk in with large strides.

As he walked, he rudely lifted up his skirt, revealing his bare legs and shorts.

While tying his skirt with his head down, he shouted, “Damn, I’m so tired!”
