Chapter 101: Gentle Human x Fierce Wolf Beast 13
At the top of a desolate mountain.
Jian Tong leaned on a badminton racket with one hand while clutching his pounding chest with the other. His mind, assaulted by the resentment of the original owner, throbbed with pain.
He slowly walked over to Xi Jing and swung the badminton racket at him with full force.
“Xi Jing, you ruined me…” A low, hoarse voice filled with resentment rang out, causing Ning Si, who had been kicking furiously, to pause.
“Jian Tong, what’s wrong?”
Ning Si, alert, sensed something unusual about Jian Tong. A tiger beast hiding behind a tree also narrowed its eyes, staring intently at Jian Tong.
Jian Tong’s face was cold and grim, his fingers clenched tightly, the knuckles bulging with the force of his anger.
“Xi Jing, I can never go back home, nor see my parents again…”
At this moment, he was controlled by the resentment in his mind, speaking his deepest thoughts directly.
“It’s all because of you. I can’t go back.”
He mercilessly struck Xi Jing left and right, making his face even more colorful.
Xi Jing, unwilling to admit defeat, shouted, “So what if you can’t go back? What’s so bad about here? It’s better than being an ordinary dancer there!”
He couldn’t understand why Jian Tong and Ning Si despised the beast world so much. What was so worth clinging to in the 21st century?
Jian Tong’s eyes burned with anger, the corners of his eyes turning crimson from the fury.
“The ordinary dancer you speak of was my dream, the goal I strived for my entire life.”
He stepped on Xi Jing’s fingers, “Do you know how much effort I put into becoming a dancer? You speak so lightly because the knife doesn’t cut you. I’ll have a good talk with you today!”
“Ah—” Xi Jing let out a piercing scream as the pain from his crushed fingers shot through him, making Jian Tong narrow his dark eyes in annoyance.
“What are you screaming for? You’re not going to die.”
He patted Xi Jing’s face and spoke slowly with a reminiscent expression, “I’ve always been the obedient child and good student in the eyes of my parents and teachers. The only time I rebelled was when I abandoned medicine to pursue dance.”
“My family runs a traditional Chinese medicine shop. My parents are renowned practitioners of TCM. I was supposed to inherit the family’s medical legacy, but I gave it up because I wanted to become a dancer…”
He gripped Xi Jing’s chin and said coldly, “That was the first time my parents teamed up to beat me. I even knelt in front of my grandfather’s memorial photo overnight, willing to die rather than give up dance.”
“My parents eventually softened, but they didn’t make it easy for me. They demanded that I balance my studies and medicine alongside dance, or else I would never be allowed to dance again.”
He looked directly into Xi Jing’s eyes, his demeanor stern, a stark contrast to his usual gentle nature.
“I did it. I even got into the Central Academy of Dance, my dream school.”
“But the good times didn’t last. In my second year of university, my parents died in a car accident. I was in the car too, and should have died on the spot, but they protected me. I lost those memories…”
“Until just now, when I remembered.”
His eyes grew deeper, “My sense of direction wasn’t that bad before, but it worsened after the accident.”
“Gradually, I forgot many places, and in the end, I couldn’t even remember my own home.”
His fingers trembled slightly with rage, his eyes filled with suppressed emotions, “Because of you, I lost my personal bag…”
“Without it, I can’t find my way home.” Jian Tong’s eyes gradually turned red, “I can’t see my parents’ photos anymore, I can’t return to the stage, I can’t remember where my home is…”
“I don’t even have a keepsake.”
Tears rolled down Jian Tong’s pale cheeks.
His heart ached as if a piece of it was missing, as if his only support had been severed.
“It’s all gone…”
At this moment, influenced by the original owner’s resentment, he became overly sentimental.
Under normal circumstances, he would have demanded that Xi Jing, who caused him to lose his way home, pay a hundredfold, beating him to death or at least crippling him. But now, he was only overwhelmed by the pain, completely detached from the outside world.
Empty, painful, unreal…
Ning Si, heartbroken by Jian Tong’s self-revelation, saw his tears and immediately put down his racket to comfort him.
“Jian Tong, you have to look forward.”
“Your parents are gone. They wouldn’t want to see you like this.”
He gritted his teeth and continued, “You love dancing. Later, I’ll be your manager. I’ll personally promote you, ensuring you become famous across the land.”
Jian Tong shook his head, “It’s not the same…”
“It’s not the same!!! After every performance, I used to pick the best photo and place it in front of my parents’ memorial. I wanted them to see how well I was doing in the dance industry I loved.”
He blinked hard, his heart as tangled as a ball of yarn clawed by a cat.
“But now, it’s impossible…”
“I can’t find my way home…”
Ning Si sighed at these words. He couldn’t return to his home either.
Five hundred years had long turned their former houses and cities into illusions. Both of their homes had vanished in the tide of history, and there was no familiar place to return to.
“You have a lover here. You can build a new home with him.”
These words were as much for Jian Tong as they were for himself.
Jian Tong clutched the front of his shirt, the sour emotion in his heart impossible to suppress.
He tried to calm the resentment in his mind, wanting to return to a normal state, but the pain piercing his heart made it impossible to calm down.
“… Damn it! The original owner’s resentment is killing me!”
Jian Tong was deeply troubled by the lingering resentment in his mind. His heart ached, his head hurt, and he felt uncomfortable everywhere.
He channeled his grief into strength, swinging the badminton racket at Xi Jing again.
He didn’t stop until his fingers went numb.
He ignored the limp Xi Jing and didn’t look at the worried Ning Si beside him, just clutching his pounding chest.
This is killing me!
This fight was so exhausting; it felt like his body had been completely drained.
Jian Tong’s brain throbbed with a needle-like pain, and a mechanical voice followed.
[Hidden mission: Beat up Xi Jing once, completed.]
The system notification slowly dissipated the resentment in Jian Tong’s mind, easing his headache and causing him to bend over, exhausted.
“I’m so tired.” The now normal Jian Tong, his face flushed, stared at the ground, two tear streaks still fresh at the corners of his eyes.
This time, he was almost done in by the original owner’s resentment. Couldn’t they have talked it out instead of making such a big deal? Wasn’t he afraid of being driven mad by the resentment?
Fortunately, his soul was strong enough, or else he might have been left with some psychological scars.
