“How long until Lu Lingfeng comes back?” Wang Jinhe asked Wan Feng.
“He should be back in a few days, probably before the New Year.”
Wang Jinhe looked regretful. “It’s a pity that Gu Xiruo probably won’t have a good year this year. As for the Gu family, we should take some action.”
“Madam, what do you mean?”
“After Lu Lingfeng returns, he will likely take action against Gu Xiruo. When he does, you can start taking action against the Gu family, gradually eroding their assets. We shouldn’t let anyone know it’s us. It’s best to push the blame onto Lu Lingfeng,” Wang Jinhe said, squinting.
“That shouldn’t be difficult. But Madam, are you planning to ruin the Gu family?” Once they understood Wang Jinhe’s intentions, they would be more convenient in their actions.
Wang Jinhe chuckled lightly as she touched her belly. “I don’t have any major demands. Making Gu Sheng and his wife deeply regretful will be enough.”
“Madam, do you want to return to the Gu family?” Wa Feng was momentarily puzzled about what Wang Jinhe was planning.
Wang Jinhe looked at Wan Feng as if he were a strange creature. “Why would I want to return to the Gu family? Is it because my parents didn’t treat me well, or because living in the Prince Yu’s Royal Mansion isn’t comfortable enough?”
“I want them to regret it just to make them regret it. Whether I return to the Gu family or not is not directly related. Didn’t Gu Sheng say he looked down on me and only recognized Gu Xiruo as his daughter? Well, I’ll make him kneel before me and beg,” she really wanted to see if Gu Sheng was truly that proud.
She also wanted to see if Gu Xiruo could withstand Lu Lingfeng’s retaliation.
“Madam, Lu Lingfeng has liked Gu Xiruo for so many years. Even if he now knows that Gu Xiruo deceived him and harmed his savior, can he really go all out to retaliate against Gu Xiruo?” Wan Feng was genuinely skeptical about this.
It wasn’t that he doubted Wang Jinhe, but rather he doubted Lu Lingfeng.
Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile. “What Lu Lingfeng likes is his savior. The reason he fell for Gu Xiruo was also because of this identity. Without this identity, Lu Lingfeng will only feel that he has been deceived. The feeling of being deceived is not pleasant. I believe no man can accept being deceived.”
Especially being deceived by a woman.
Lu Lingfeng had cut ties with the Lu family for Gu Xiruo, but it turned out that Gu Xiruo was just a fake. How could Lu Lingfeng possibly tolerate that?
If Lu Lingfeng could truly accept Gu Xiruo’s identity, he wouldn’t have investigated who his savior really was.
His investigation and search were enough to show his attitude.
Wan Feng nodded in understanding. What Madam said seemed to make sense. He just didn’t know if Lu Lingfeng would end up being directly angered to death.
“Madam, previously Gu Xiruo knew the young master of the Number one building. Could this cause trouble for us?”
“No, don’t you know Lou Manqing?”
Wan Feng was initially puzzled, but then he remembered who this person was and spoke, “I suddenly feel a bit sympathetic for Gu Xiruo. She thought she had climbed to the top, but it turns out she was just being manipulated by the young master.”
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re absolutely right. That’s exactly what happened. But there’s one thing you got wrong. Doesn’t Gu Xiruo still have a backup plan?”
Wan Feng was momentarily speechless and somewhat baffled. “What is Qing Yukong thinking? He’s already in trouble, yet he’s still willing to marry Gu Xiruo.”
The wedding date had been postponed time and time again, and he still didn’t seem to mind.
Wang Jinhe lightly tapped her fingertips on the tabletop and, after a while, spoke up. “Go and find out if Qing Yukong has any rivals in the Qing family. It would be best if they are equally matched in skills and abilities.”
“Yes, I will have someone look into it.”
After Wan Feng left, Wang Jinhe toyed with the cup in her hand, a faint smile on her face.
Qing Yukong, the young master of the Qing family, huh?
“Su Yu, I have some good news that will make you happy. Do you want to hear it?” Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu with a smile as he entered the room.
“Oh? I’m all ears,” Wang Jinhe immediately became interested, eager to hear what Su Yu had to say.
“Lou Manqing just sent someone to deliver a message to me, saying that Gu Xiruo invited him out for a meal.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in surprise. “Is her injury already healed?”
“Of course not, but I think she probably wants to go and confide in Lou Manqing, and ideally, she wants to cause trouble for us,” Su Yu quickly figured out what Gu Xiruo was up to.
Wang Jinhe stroked her chin, a faint smile playing on her lips. “Su Yu, what do you think Gu Xiruo’s expression would be if she found out about your close relationship with Lou Manqing?”
Would she be so angry that she’d spit blood?
Su Yu raised an eyebrow and looked at Wang Jinhe. “I don’t know about that, but it has nothing to do with us.”
“You’re right, it really has nothing to do with us. But I want Qing Yukong to see what kind of ‘sea king’ the person his love have been pining for really is.”
“Sea king?”
“Yes, men are like fish in her pond. But the pond isn’t very big, and she only has a couple of fish. One of them has become rebellious and is causing trouble for her when it comes back,” Wang Jinhe said with a sly smile.
Su Yu heard this kind of analogy for the first time, but it was indeed quite fitting.
“Xiao He, you might be disappointed. Her pond probably has more than just two fish.”
Wang Jinhe paused in her drinking and turned to look at Su Yu, her expression somewhat peculiar. “What do you mean by that?”
“It means that there are a few other men who like Gu Xiruo, and she’s been stringing them along just like she’s been stringing along Lu Lingfeng. It’s just that their abilities aren’t as great as Lu Lingfeng’s, so Gu Xiruo hasn’t invested as much in them, and they haven’t had as many opportunities to meet her. Naturally, they haven’t been discovered by Qing Yukong or Lu Lingfeng.” If Qing Yukong had discovered those men, they probably wouldn’t exist anymore, so how could they have lasted until now?
Wang Jinhe suddenly found Gu Xiruo more and more intriguing.
“Su Yu, have everything prepared. I want to completely ruin Gu Xiruo,” she said. With so many fish in her pond, she wasn’t afraid of being discovered. Besides, Gu Xiruo still had a legitimate fiancé.
“Su Yu, do you think Qing Yukong would be so angry that he’d spit blood if he found out that Gu Xiruo is keeping other fish besides Lu Lingfeng?” Wang Jinhe said excitedly.
Su Yu naturally knew what Wang Jinhe wanted to do and was willing to help her accomplish it.
With everything ready, they were just waiting for the right moment.
Wang Jinhe swatted away Su Yu’s hand that was pinching his nose and said irritably, “Don’t fidget around here. It’s unbecoming.”
“Tomorrow, I’ll go to the palace to inform imperial brother thatI plan to bring Nan Qiao and the others to the New Year’s Eve banquet,” Su Yu said.
