Until the voices of the two faded away.
Jiang Huaixu’s face was devoid of any emotion, “Where’s Zhuzhu?”
“Playing in the back.” She pointed to the distance.
“Hmm, this side is done; we can go. I’ll go get Zhuzhu; wait for me here.”
“Okay.”
Xu Chunian watched Jiang Huaixu’s tall figure, wondering why she could sense his emotions.
“Hey, Xu Chunian.”
Xu Chunian rubbed her forehead; it had been quite a busy day.
Lanxin approached her with a tall wine glass in hand.
Xu Chunian forced a smile, “What do you want this time?”
Lanxin raised her chin, lacking confidence, “Do you want an opportunity to apologize for what you said last time?”
“No!” Xu Chunian rejected her decisively.
“Hey!” Lanxin stomped her foot in frustration, “How rude!”
“Rude? Are you talking about not apologizing to you, or about calling you a little green tea last time, or saying you have a face that could be plastered? Or am I saying you lack intelligence?” Xu Chunian looked at her with a half-smile.
“When did you say I lack intelligence?” Lanxin asked.
“Just now.”
“You…” Lanxin was furious, “Xu Chunian!”
Xu Chunian looked exasperated, “Keep your voice down; people inside will think I’m bullying you.”
“If it weren’t for my aunt not allowing me to curse, I’d definitely scold you!” Lanxin sneered, “Do you know that Huai Xu has been getting close to a girl recently?”
“Who?”
Lanxin shot her a mocking glance, “If you don’t cherish him, then someone new will come along to love him, right?”
“So after all that, you still didn’t get your turn?” Xu Chunian’s gaze turned caring.
“You…” Lanxin forced herself to calm down and continued, “Don’t you dislike Huai Xu? Why are you still holding onto him?”
“I enjoy it; what’s it to you? If you’re capable, make Jiang Huaixu break up with me.”
As soon as she said it, Xu Chunian was slightly taken aback by her own boldness.
“Who knows what you’re scheming,” Lanxin said, holding the champagne, “I like Huai Xu, but my only competitor is you.”
“Why?” Xu Chunian said slowly, “Don’t want to be a little fourth, but want to be a little third instead?”
Lanxin closed her eyes, “Xu Chunian, I can tell you who that little third is.”
“Oh, what do you want then?” Since they were at this point, Xu Chunian knew it was something Lanxin desired.
“Apologize to me.” Lanxin looked at her disdainfully, “For what you said before…”
“Sorry.”
Before Lanxin could finish her sentence, Xu Chunian interrupted her.
Lanxin: “?”
“Can I speak now?” Xu Chunian looked at her calmly.
Lanxin suppressed the urge to cough up blood and tried to maintain her composure, handing over a glass of champagne, “Refreshing. If you drink this, we can wipe the slate clean.”
Xu Chunian looked at her with a complicated expression, raising her hand as she noticed the excitement nearly overflowing from Lanxin’s eyes.
However, she pushed the glass back, “Take a look for yourself, here.”
Xu Chunian scratched the inside of the glass with her finger, noticing the particles clinging to her finger, “Didn’t you ask the shopkeeper for instant dissolvable ones when you bought the medicine?”
“Ah, it didn’t dissolve? I stirred it well!” Lanxin held the glass up to her eyes.
At that moment, Jiang Huaixu was walking over with Zhuzhu in his arms, “Let’s go.”
“But…” Xu Chunian’s expression suddenly turned hesitant, “Miss Lan still wants me to drink a toast with her.”
Jiang Huaixu indeed looked towards the glass of undissolved drink in Lanxin’s hand.
