Lingering Game
Lingering Game chapter 55

Shu Ziqin was immediately stunned for half a second.

After that, he looked directly into Yang Yue’s eyes and shook his head slightly.

Shu Ziqin’s obvious nervousness was different from the other boys Yang Yue had teased before.

Those boys had never had intimate contact with beautiful girls before, so they were flustered, overly excited, and spoke and acted incoherently in front of them. They would ramble on, their words not making sense, and their volume louder than usual.

Shu Ziqin, however, was very calm. He earnestly met Yang Yue’s gaze, his expression tense but serious, his eyes shining brightly, shy but not awkward.

Yang Yue analyzed inwardly, wondering if he found Shu Ziqin more likable and adorable than others because of his appearance. It was like how intentionally revealing his thighs still resulted in being perceived as cute and innocent. Shu Ziqin’s face seemed to be naturally engraved with the word “sincerity.”

Yang Yue cleared his throat and asked again, “So, what kind of girl do you like?”

Upon hearing this, Shu Ziqin blinked rapidly, opened his mouth, but remained silent for a while.

Yang Yue straightened up, tilted his head slightly, raised his hand, and pointed his index finger to the corner of his lips, asking, “What do you think of me?”

Zhao Qinqing had just helped him touch up his lip gloss. At this moment, his lips were pink and shiny. A slight purse would give a subtle sticky feeling, and a faint candy sweetness lingered in the air.

Shu Ziqin quickly averted his gaze from Yang Yue’s and raised his hand to scratch his head.

“Senior, don’t tease me,” he whispered, “I’m really nervous.”

Yang Yue burst into laughter, no longer pretending, and sat down beside him, casually wrapping his arm around Shu Ziqin’s shoulder, saying, “You’re different, experienced, I’m probably just a piece of cake for you.”

Shu Ziqin still seemed a bit stiff, slightly turning his head to look at him and saying, “No, it’s because I saw you saying the same thing to someone else just now.”

Yang Yue sighed, clicked his tongue lightly, then lifted Shu Ziqin’s chin with his other hand, carefully examining it for a moment. “No, you’re blushing.”

Shu Ziqin leaned back, carefully avoiding his hand. “I told you, I’m really nervous!”

“Then I must be quite charming!” Yang Yue boasted proudly.

Shu Ziqin didn’t look at him anymore, lowered his gaze, and nodded slightly.

When friends of the same sex gathered together, sometimes they would deliberately boast and exaggerate, expecting to be teased by others and just wanting to have some fun together. Yang Yue was mentally prepared for this, but he didn’t expect Shu Ziqin to shyly and seriously agree with him, making the atmosphere a bit awkward instead.

Yang Yue awkwardly laughed a few times and thought to himself that this junior was somewhat similar to Jing Tian.

Jing Tian was also an honest person. Even though his appearance and personality seemed to have changed dramatically over the past two years, what was deep inside him remained unchanged.

Yang Yue would brag recklessly in front of him, and if Jing Tian was fooled, he would praise him earnestly with a serious face. If he had doubts, he wouldn’t expose or ridicule him directly, but would just look at Yang Yue helplessly and laugh foolishly.

Honest people were very lovable, and Yang Yue, being restless by nature, favored honest people.

“Good boy,” he patted Shu Ziqin’s head with his hand, messing up his already slightly fluffy hair, “A well-behaved kid like you deserves a reward.”

Shu Ziqin offered no resistance and let him mess up his hairstyle, asking, “What reward?”

Yang Yue casually made up something on the spot and couldn’t come up with anything specific. He simply asked, “What do you want?”

Shu Ziqin remained silent.

Yang Yue reached out and pinched his cheek. “Come on, tell me? I’m very kind. Maybe I can fulfill your wish.”

Shu Ziqin glanced at him, then lowered his head again, still not speaking.

Either he couldn’t think of anything, or he couldn’t say it.

Just then, not far away, Zhao Qinqing’s voice came, “Is everyone ready? Shall we rehearse one more time?”

Yang Yue quickly got up, took a step forward, but his figure suddenly paused, frowned slightly, and took a shallow breath.

“What’s wrong?” Shu Ziqin looked concerned.

“These shoes are hurting my feet,” Yang Yue turned back, smiling helplessly at him, “I’ve got a little blister, it hurts a bit.”

The women’s strap sandals he was wearing on his feet were purchased with the class fund for this event. Limited by the budget, the quality was average and a bit hard. Although he was slender among the boys and didn’t have a tall stature, for girls, size 40 feet were considered large, falling into the category of rare sizes. The classmate responsible for purchasing only managed to get size 39. Yang Yue initially felt that the straps were slightly tight when he put them on, but after a while, it felt like torture.

Seeing Shu Ziqin’s worried expression, he quickly reassured him, “It’s not serious, I have thick skin and can endure the pain.”

After speaking, he saw Zhao Qinqing urging them again and hurriedly walked over.

Although he was initially forced to participate, he had invested a lot of time and energy into the program. Yang Yue was quite serious about the program itself during rehearsals.

After two rounds were over, Zhao Qinqing and the students responsible for the arrangement began discussing details and improvements. Yang Yue stood idly on the edge of the crowd, considering whether to sit down quickly and give his poor feet a break during this short break.

Before he could act, a girl next to him patted his shoulder. Yang Yue turned around and immediately smiled.

She was one of the two girls who had secretly observed Shu Ziqin and were discussing something. Yang Yue could almost guess what she wanted to say to him.

Sure enough, with a shy expression, the girl asked, “Is your friend from our college? Which class is he in? I’ve never seen him before.”

Yang Yue shook his head, “I’m not sure either. I just know he’s a freshman this year.”

The girl nodded thoughtfully, “No wonder.”

Although there wasn’t much difference in age between freshmen and juniors, Shu Ziqin’s youthful appearance couldn’t be concealed, even if he was tall. It was obvious at a glance that he was a freshman.

The girl quickly asked again, “So, what’s his name?”

Yang Yue smiled, “You want to get to know him? Well…”

He was about to say, “Then let me introduce you guys.” But when he turned to where Shu Ziqin had been sitting, the place was already empty.

“He’s gone,” the girl laughed, “But I really wanted to…”

Before she could finish, Yang Yue interrupted her.

“He’s back!” Yang Yue pointed to the door.

Shu Ziqin’s hair was still messy. After entering the dance studio, he looked around, obviously searching for someone.

Yang Yue immediately raised his hand and waved to him. Shu Ziqin quickly found him and walked over.

When he reached Yang Yue, he happily handed over a small package he was holding, “This is for you!”

Yang Yue reached out and took it. It was a small pack of band-aids.

“I heard from girls before that when their shoes are uncomfortable, putting one of these on helps a lot,” Shu Ziqin explained earnestly.

He sounded slightly out of breath while speaking, with a hint of panting. Calculating the time, he hadn’t been gone for more than ten minutes, and there were no convenience stores nearby. Yang Yue wondered where he had found such a good thing.

“Thank you,” Yang Yue said, surprised and touched. He immediately took off a shoe and said, “Let me try it!”

As he bent over, a large portion of his underwear was exposed. The girl beside him shouted, “Your butt! Your butt!”

Yang Yue quickly balanced himself and tried to pull his skirt down. But he accidentally lost his balance and flailed his arms, almost falling. Fortunately, Shu Ziqin reacted quickly and steadied him.

Once he regained his balance, Shu Ziqin reached out and took back the band-aid, “Let me do it.”

Before Yang Yue could react, Shu Ziqin squatted down and reached for his ankle.

The girl beside them gasped.

Yang Yue stood stiffly, watching as Shu Ziqin earnestly opened the band-aid and carefully observed his foot. He asked, “Is it sore here?”

“…Yes,” Yang Yue nodded.

Shu Ziqin skillfully applied the band-aid to his foot, then looked up, “Is there anywhere else that hurts?”

It felt awkward to have his bare foot held by a guy’s hand.

“I’ll do it myself…” he said, trying to pull his foot back, but Shu Ziqin didn’t let go, causing him to lose his balance again.

Shu Ziqin hurriedly held onto him to prevent him from falling, “Be careful!”

Once he regained his balance, their position became extremely awkward.

Shu Ziqin quickly let go of his legs and lowered his head, “Let me do it. Senior, you just stand.”

After both feet were patched up, Yang Yue felt a rare sense of shyness.

But Shu Ziqin looked very pleased with himself, standing up with a triumphant expression. He smiled at Yang Yue, “All good now. You should feel better!”

Yang Yue also smiled at him, “Thanks.”

Shu Ziqin waved to him and sat back down on the bench in the corner.

“…You wanted to get to know him, right?” Yang Yue asked the girl who had been watching the whole time.

“No need anymore,” the girl said, “I don’t want to anymore. You keep him.”

Yang Yue realized that his attitude was a bit strange.

After putting on the band-aids, his feet felt much better. He felt grateful for Shu Ziqin’s thoughtfulness and enthusiasm.

But on the other hand, he felt a little uncomfortable.

When Shu Ziqin was holding his foot just now, he felt momentarily embarrassed, and his face felt hot, which the onlooker girl noticed.

He had always been the one teasing others and making them feel embarrassed. Now, the tables had turned. Even though he knew Shu Ziqin had no such intentions and couldn’t possibly be teasing him, he couldn’t help feeling a bit resentful. The competitive part of his personality emerged subtly.

He looked down at his feet, then glanced at Shu Ziqin, who was still sitting on the bench.

Shu Ziqin was looking at him attentively, and as soon as he caught Yang Yue’s gaze, he grinned widely, showing his neat white teeth, his eyes narrowing into slits.

With his messy hair, he looked sunny and silly.

Yang Yue couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. He raised his hand to gesture, reminding Shu Ziqin to pay attention to his appearance.

Shu Ziqin, puzzled, tilted his head and then absentmindedly scratched his head.

But instead of fixing it, his hair became even messier.

Yang Yue almost burst out laughing.

“Yang Yue, it’s your turn!” The boy behind him pushed him forcefully.

Yang Yue snapped out of his daze, realizing he had missed his cue while daydreaming. He hurriedly took a few steps forward. When he reached the spot marked as the center of the stage, he made two consecutive mistakes before finally finding the rhythm, looking flustered and clumsy.

Yang Yue felt ashamed and subconsciously glanced at Shu Ziqin’s direction again.

The fool was smiling so broadly that his mouth couldn’t close. When he saw Yang Yue looking at him, he excitedly raised his hand and waved a little, his face beaming.

This wouldn’t do, how could he be laughed at by an airhead like him?

Yang Yue was unwilling to accept this and secretly made up his mind to retaliate later, and even to include the embarrassment just now.
