Apocalypse Arrival: Little Zombie, I Just Hoard, Hoard, Hoard! Chapter 57: Post-Apocalyptic Milk Tea

Many people can hold a pen but can’t write well, so Qin Luo helped her with that later.

The lady at the service counter couldn’t help but gasp when she saw her take out a chainsaw and place it on the edge of the table. She had thought the girl was a cute little thing, but those who could join the 3A Special Operations Team were certainly no ordinary people.

“Alright, I’ve collected all your information. Your order will be ready in three days.”

The service lady collected all the paperwork and allowed them to browse around inside, but advised not to stay too long.

Qin Luo and his team simply said goodbye, having seen enough of the place. After all, they couldn’t buy anything else, so they just had to wait for their weapons.

The service lady personally escorted them out, her attitude still friendly, though the rules of the Crafting Department were quite strict.

Once outside, they decided to stroll around the streets.

Since they were already there.

The four of them, with a body in tow, casually started exploring. The city center had changed quite a bit, with all sorts of strange and quirky shops.

There was even a milk tea shop still running, though the prices had skyrocketed. A cup now cost 180 points, and considering that for only 3 points, one could get a “Never Starve Set,” it seemed rather outrageous for ordinary people.

Qin Luo turned to the milk tea shop, staring at the sign before speaking, “180 points per cup? I want to see what’s so special.”

The lady inside nearly screamed when she saw them. The guys were all tall and handsome, and the girls were beautiful!

She blushed and said, “Welcome to Biji Biji, what would you like to drink?”

Qin Luo glanced at the menu. There was a “Classic Series” and an “Innovative Series.” The Classic Series had the usual bubble tea and milk green tea, while the Innovative Series offered more peculiar choices, like “Overlord Flower Bubble Milk Tea,” “Red Banana Milkshake,” “Exotic Core Dilution Fruit Tea,” and “Extra Large Camel Milk.”

“Hiss, ten cups of the Classic Series, and ten cups of the Innovative Series. What’s this Red Banana thing?”

They could store the extras in their space.

This world always had surprises.

The store clerk, a bit shy, explained, “The Red Banana is a newly discovered mutated banana. Its flavor is ten times sweeter and more fragrant than regular bananas, and it has a great texture. You can try it! Now, please scan the code here.”

After taking their order, she pointed them to a nearby machine to scan the barcode.

Before, it had been QR codes.

Now, everyone was using barcodes.

Chen Xiaofei and Bai Shu were still discussing this new thing. “So mutated plants are now edible?”

They both noticed this change.

The store clerk wasn’t a mutant, just an ordinary person working in the city center. She explained, “Food is in short supply now, and we’re running out, so the base has started recruiting people to collect mutated plants. Once brought back, they’re tested at the research center, and as long as they’re not too contaminated, they can be eaten.”

Of course, she added, “At the moment, ordinary people still can’t eat mutated plants or meat.”

Because of contamination.

However, mutants and those with physical alterations could eat them, and it even benefited them. The contamination was essentially the energy that helped them evolve.

Wang Weihua exclaimed in amazement, “If I hadn’t come to the city center, I’d be falling behind in the world!”

Bai Shu and Chen Xiaofei responded, “Isn’t that right? Every day there’s something new happening. It’s crazy.”

The store clerk went back to preparing their order, and they noticed that the two types of drinks were being made separately. The clerk was making the Classic Series for ordinary people, while inside, they were preparing the Innovative Series.

Bai Shu remarked, “I was wondering how regular people could handle mutated plants. It seems they’re made separately. The people inside must be altered.”

Altered humans were actually more unstable than mutants. Most of them worked in the base doing other jobs.

Rarely did altered humans, like Manyuo, go on missions.

Altered humans couldn’t always control their emotions, and they were prone to losing control.

Some mutations turned herbivorous animals into overly timid creatures, unable to fight back.

Others, like carnivores, became bloodthirsty after seeing blood, losing their sanity, which is why they were usually not sent on missions.

Altered humans who were as emotionally stable as Manyuo were incredibly rare.

As they waited for their milk tea, they suddenly saw a familiar figure with a bright red comb and an apron, shouting, “Kekeke, Xiao Zhang! Xiao Zhang! No tapioca pearls! Where’s the stock, kekeke?”

The clerk who was taking their order jumped, quickly shoving the figure back into the kitchen, “Big Brother Chicken, don’t come out! You’ll scare the customers! Tapioca pearls are in the small ingredient box. I just prepped the ingredients.”

Qin Luo and his team were speechless.

Manyuo peeked over, and the mystery from earlier was finally solved. The feeling was quite peculiar.

When they finally got their milk tea, Qin Luo couldn’t resist asking, “Are all milk tea shops officially run now?”

The store clerk paused, blushed, and nodded shyly, “The materials for making milk tea are very limited now. Most food stores are now directly operated by the authorities because only they have access to so many supplies.”

How could ordinary people run a shop now? Unless they were extremely wealthy, they would still have to buy ingredients from the official suppliers.

So, it was truly government-controlled—like an iron rice bowl. “Please don’t mind. Big Brother Chicken is very nice. Though altered humans might seem intimidating, they’re not much different from regular people. He works hard and even does part-time work in the commoners’ district to make life easier for the elderly who’ve lived in the countryside all their lives, helping them transition to life in the base.”

The clerk was very gentle, worried that they might discriminate against altered humans.

Qin Luo smiled, “Don’t worry, altered humans are quite adorable.”

Bai Shu added, “Yeah~~.”

Chen Xiaofei, holding the remaining ten cups, joked, “Is it all altered humans that are cute, or just our little squad leader?”

Qin Luo took a cup of milk tea and handed it to the little zombie, even poking a straw into it. “Tsk, don’t talk too much! If you’re not drinking milk tea, give it back to me.”

Chen Xiaofei immediately protected it, playfully grinning.

Bai Shu and Wang Weihua also laughed.

The little zombie held the huge cup of milk tea with her paws, tilted her head to look at them, and then stared at the drink. It had been so long since she had fresh milk tea!

The space had milk tea supplies, but it was nothing compared to the fresh-made stuff. The little zombie eagerly drank a large gulp, and the more she drank, the brighter her eyes became! She could actually taste the flavor of mutated plants in the milk tea!!

So happy~

The little zombie happily swayed the cup, feeling absolutely content in that moment.

The store clerk watched them leave, envious, and suddenly noticed that the girl hiding behind the incredibly handsome guy was also an altered human? She had just noticed the collar on her neck… no wonder they weren’t discriminatory toward altered humans.

How wonderful.
