Su Mu Ying arrived at Wang Zhi’s room. At this moment, Wang Zhi was sitting by the bed, smoking a cigarette that he had brought from outside.
When Wang Zhi saw Ying sitting beside him, he turned his head, gave her a glance, and continued smoking the cigarette.
“Ah, our Captain Wang is being bullied, huh?” Su Mu Ying leaned over and rested her arm on Wang Zhi’s shoulder, staring at him with a smile.
Wang Zhi didn’t respond, continuing to stare at the desk lamp in a daze.
“I heard from Liuli. Losing to that Jie Xi isn’t shameful.”
“Phew~ it’s not about being beaten,” Wang Zhi exhaled a smoke ring and said.
“What is it about, then?”
“Do you feel like life’s a bit too easy for us right now?” Wang Zhi extinguished the cigarette in his hand and turned to Su Mu Ying to ask.
“Easy? Hmm… Compared to the end of the world before, it is definitely much more comfortable. No need to worry about international police chasing us, no need to worry about enemies from our past trying to trap us. Honestly, I still prefer dealing with zombies over living people,” Su Mu Ying replied.
“Ease only makes people complacent. When real danger arrives, we’ll be powerless, just praying quietly. The zombies outside are constantly improving, so what right do we have to be at ease?” Wang Zhi said.
Hearing Wang Zhi’s words, Su Mu Ying fell into deep thought. After a while, she spoke up, “By the way, that Jie Xi seems to like you quite a bit?”
Wang Zhi couldn’t believe it. Why was Su Mu Ying focusing on something so irrelevant? He was discussing serious matters! He thought to himself, rolling his eyes in frustration.
“…Maybe she’s like that with all the teams,” Wang Zhi immediately tried to play it off.
“Really? But I also heard that you gave her the nuclear material we got and wrapped it up nicely as a gift?”
Thud!
Su Mu Ying said this as she immediately pushed Wang Zhi down onto the bed. However, at this moment, Wang Zhi wasn’t foolish enough to think that Su Mu Ying was going to do anything intimate. After all, her dagger was now pressed against his lower body.
Damn it, that Liuli, why did she say everything!? Wang Zhi cursed inwardly.
“Er… Sister Ying, let’s talk calmly. Can you put the knife down first? Let me explain. We were giving a gift, of course, with the expectation of some benefit, right?” Wang Zhi said, quickly trying to defuse the situation.
“What kind of benefit? You mean getting beaten up by her?” Su Mu Ying asked, still holding the dagger.
“No, do you know what Dr. Yang, the one we brought, is working on?”
“What’s he working on?”
“They’re researching the virus antibody vaccine! According to Jie Xi, if the vaccine is successful, those who get vaccinated won’t be infected! As long as they aren’t bitten to death, they’ll still survive!” Wang Zhi explained eagerly.
“Hmm… That’s definitely good news, but you should stop running to her so much in the future!” Su Mu Ying said as she put the dagger away and spoke in a tone that made it clear she wasn’t happy.
“Got it, my dear auntie. Am I the team leader, or are you?” Wang Zhi mumbled under his breath.
However, to his regret, Su Mu Ying heard him very clearly and raised an eyebrow. “Oh? So, what does the team leader mean?” she asked, deliberately emphasizing the word “team leader,” giving him a smile that was both playful and mocking.
Wang Zhi swallowed nervously. He really wanted to slap himself for saying such a thing when everything was fine.
“My meaning is that Sister Ying must be tired, right? Let me give you a leg massage,” Wang Zhi quickly suggested, jumping off the bed.
“Hmph! Now that you mention it, I am a little tired. Go ahead,” Su Mu Ying said, leaning back on the bed and enjoying the massage.
“Your technique is quite good. If this were before the apocalypse, I would have probably hired you as a massage therapist,” Su Mu Ying commented.
Wang Zhi thought to himself that one day, he would make her kneel beside the bed to give him a leg rub too!
…
After the massage, Wang Zhi went to the living room and opened Ling Ling Yao to check if there was any useful news. He found that his information had earned him another 200 survival points, leaving him with more than 13,000 points.
In addition to that, Wang Zhi found an interesting announcement: the Dawn Tower had begun preliminary construction of a “solar room.”
The solar room was an area about the size of a soccer field, with a thick layer of tempered glass overhead. The sky outside was a clear blue, and the floor inside was covered with photovoltaic panels that generated electricity from solar energy. The most important thing was that survivors could enter the room to bask in the sun and get some fresh air. Of course, there was an entrance fee of 5 survival points, and there was no time limit.
“Interesting. It generates electricity and allows people to soak up the sun. This project is pretty unique!” Wang Zhi said while reading the announcement.
“What’s so unique about it?” Fatty, who had come over, asked.
“Look, the Dawn Tower built a solar room where you can bask in the sun… Hey! Fatty, where are you going?” Wang Zhi started explaining but stopped when he saw Fatty heading toward the door.
“I’m going to bask in the sun and recover, Captain Wang. See you,” Fatty said.
“…”
Before Wang Zhi could say anything to stop him from going alone, Fatty had already slipped away. Wang Zhi shook his head and went back to looking at Ling Ling Yao.
“Hm? What’s this? A large-scale leisure and wellness project? The natural hot spring construction is completed?” Wang Zhi read the announcement with a blank expression.
This wasn’t news; it was just a ploy to get people to spend money.
But on the other hand, the hot spring sounded like a great place to relax, especially since they hadn’t had a proper bath since the apocalypse. Wang Zhi thought it would be a good idea to go and unwind.
He closed Ling Ling Yao, called everyone down, and prepared to head to the first floor’s natural hot spring.
As they got into the elevator, they were about to head down when they saw a few unfamiliar faces coming out of the elevator.
The man at the front was wearing glasses and looked gentle, followed by four women who were not unattractive.
Wang Zhi looked at the man and thought, That guy looks weak, like he’s been drained by the four women behind him. Could this be the “kid with kidney problems” type? He couldn’t help but mutter to himself, but still decided to greet them.
“Hello, I’m Wang Zhi, the captain of the Sunset team,” Wang Zhi introduced himself.
“Lun Hui, Tang Qi Lin,” the man replied briefly, ignoring Wang Zhi’s outstretched hand, and led the four women off toward the residential area.
Wang Zhi awkwardly retracted his hand and scratched his head. He hadn’t expected the guy to be so arrogant.
But, anyone who could make it to this level must have some credentials. Though the man appeared weak, and had four women in tow, anyone who made it to the third floor surely wasn’t relying on luck.
However, the man was aloof, offering no chance to even get to know him. Wang Zhi thought, Looks like I’ll have to wait until we meet in the training field to see what he’s really made of.
