Su Yu’s words made it seem like he was being unreasonable and causing trouble.
Frowning slightly, Qi Ming said, “Su Yu…”
“Are you saying it’s a misunderstanding?” Su Yu suddenly interrupted Qi Ming, looking up at him.
The expressionless look made Qi Ming’s heart skip a beat, giving him a sense of foreboding.
But for him, it was a difficult situation to handle, so he could only nod and say, “The situation between us was indeed a misunderstanding. You once said you would help me.”
This statement was somewhat misleading.
Wang Jinhe found Qi Ming’s words disgusting, but before she could speak, Su Yu stopped her.
“That’s a good point. When I was fourteen, you did ask me to help you in Qi Empire. But I remember telling you that I wouldn’t enter the court as an official. Since then, you seem to have had little contact with me,” Su Yu said calmly, ignoring the gazes of the officials as he toyed with his wine glass.
“After that, we gathered once, and you said you wanted to go to the deep mountains to find medicinal herbs. Fine, I accompanied you, and we encountered the people who tried to assassinate you,” Su Yu suddenly brought up the incident of Qi Ming’s assassination.
He hadn’t intended to explain, but Xiao He had said that he should explain and not let himself be misunderstood as someone who abandoned a friend and fled alone.
Qi Ming looked at Su Yu, wondering what he was trying to say.
“You left me alone to escape by myself back then. Do you have the nerve to bring this up now?” Qi Ming retorted.
“Oh, so that’s what your subordinates told you. It really sounds like something they would do. Qi Ming, I really do look down on you,” Su Yu mocked.
“A prince, and in the end, you were played by your own subordinates,” Su Yu said sarcastically.
“What are you saying?”
“When you woke up, your people should have found you, right? And they told you that I left and abandoned you in the mountains, but it was actually them who found you and helped bandage your wounds, right?” Su Yu toyed with his wine glass, looking at Qi Ming’s somewhat flustered expression over the rim of the cup.
He chuckled softly, finding Qi Ming’s reaction quite ironic.
“Su Yu, what are you trying to say?” Qi Ming felt that things were not as simple as they seemed.
Su Yu propped his chin up and looked at Qi Ming playfully. “Do you remember how the bandage on your wound was tied?”
Frowning, Qi Ming replied, “The knot was cut with scissors. Why are you asking about this?”
Su Yu didn’t answer Qi Ming’s question. Instead, he looked outside the hall and called, “Wan Gu.”
Wan Gu entered with a piece of gauze.
Su Yu wrapped the gauze around Wan Gu’s arm in a series of loops, then skillfully tied a knot with his fingers.
“Wan Gu, go and let Prince Qi take a good look at this knot,” Su Yu instructed.
“Qi Ming, when you woke up, you should have been wearing my clothes, with disheveled hair. Your own clothes and hair accessories should have been missing, right?” Su Yu said calmly.
Qi Ming stared at Su Yu intently. “What do you mean? How do you know about this?”
“Oh? How do I know? Because I changed your clothes to divert the assassins, and I ended up getting seriously injured. It took me several months to recover after returning to Xuan Empire. Almost everyone in the capital knows about this,” Su Yu explained.
As Su Yu spoke, Xuan Feiran suddenly remembered that Su Jiu had once urgently entered the palace to borrow several imperial physicians, claiming that Su Yu had been seriously injured.
It took a great deal of effort for the physicians to heal Su Yu.
“After Xiao Yu was brought back by Yuan Bao and the others, I went to the palace to request the imperial physicians. It took several days to bring him back. After he was saved, Xiao Yu had to stay in bed for over a month before he could get up. If Prince Qi doesn’t believe it, you can ask the physicians at the hospital,” Su Jiu spoke up at this point.
Qi Ming’s eyes were filled with disbelief. “It’s impossible. They wouldn’t deceive me.”
“Believe it or not, it’s up to you,” Su Jiu sneered, seeing Qi Ming as a fool who had been deceived by his own guards.
Qi Ming’s face turned pale as he looked at Su Yu, still unable to believe that it was true.
“This isn’t true.”
“If you say it’s not true, then it’s not true. It doesn’t matter,” Su Yu said indifferently.
“I just think that I once saved a thankless wretch.”
“You…”
“Furthermore, since Prince Qi has started to bring up the grievances between us, let’s settle everything at once,” Su Yu suddenly spoke up.
Qi Ming looked at Su Yu, trying to guess what he was up to, but he couldn’t stop him.
“Yuan Bao, bring him in.”
Soon, Yuan Bao brought a monk in. When Qi Ming saw the monk, his expression changed slightly. “Do you know this person, Qi Ming?”
“You can’t just bring someone over and claim they know me.”
Su Yu wasn’t surprised at all by Qi Ming’s attitude; in fact, he had expected it.
“Not admitting it? That’s okay,” Su Yu said, unfazed.
“Go on.”
Since falling into Su Yu’s hands, the abbot had been treated as a medicinal tool by Wan Gu, living a life of unbearable pain every day, yet he couldn’t die. Every time he thought he was going to die, Wan Gu would ensure he survived, even denying him the chance to take his own life.
“Prince Qi instructed me to tell your parents that you had crawled out of hell for revenge. If you were well, Yang Shanshan and Su Qin would die a terrible death. He also instructed me to guide them to harm you, not to kill you, but to make you suffer unbearably. When it reached a certain point, he would come to find you and make you go to Qi Empire to help him,” the abbot spoke, revealing everything he knew to everyone present.
The room erupted in disbelief. Could this really be true?
“And then?” Su Yu asked the abbot.
“If… if you still persist in this way, then… then Yang Shanshan and her husband will cripple you, making it impossible for you to show your face for the rest of your life, and you will never help the Emperor of Xuan Empire,” the abbot continued.
Su Yu wasn’t surprised at all by Qi Ming’s instructions. After all, he had experienced such things in his past life, so hearing his words now left his heart very calm.
“You’re talking nonsense,” Qi Ming knew he couldn’t admit to this matter. Doing so would only bring trouble.
The Prime Minister frowned, “Why would he treat the prince like that? At that time, the prince was just an ordinary merchant.”
To think that Qi Ming would go so far as to cripple Su Yu.
Su Yu raised an eyebrow and said to the Prime Minister, “Why? Because if I had entered the court, the one who is now the Prime Minister would be me, not you.”
The Prime Minister looked at Su Yu with twitching lips, wondering if he had considered his feelings when saying such things.
“Don’t try to scare me, Your Highness. I’m not easily frightened,” the Prime Minister couldn’t help but speak up.
Hearing Su Yu’s words, Su Jiu felt the most heartache.
