Chapter 65: Can I Not Call Her Sister-in-Law?
“You’re here?”
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Sheng Tang on the sofa raised her eyebrows, her tone rather arrogant.
Sheng Yu walked over without a word and sat down opposite her, ” Qiao Qiao said you have something to tell me.”
His cold and sharp eyes swept over her, and Sheng Tang instantly cowered, putting down her legs and straightening her back.
The arrogant and haughty expression on her face disappeared, replaced by a flattering smile, “Brother.”
“What do you want to tell me?”
Sheng Tang’s mind raced, the speech she had prepared was forgotten in that moment, “I wanted to say… if you like Qiao Qiao, why don’t you tell me earlier? I can help you chase her, don’t you think?”
She even let out a “ha” after she finished speaking.
“Heh.” Sheng Yu twitched the corner of his lips, letting out a cold laugh, “You’re quite enthusiastic.”
“Of course, I’m your own sister, you don’t know how hard I’ve been working for your lifelong happiness! I thought you were…”
At the crucial moment, Tang stopped herself.
Sheng Yu glanced at her lightly, “Thought I was what?”
“Nothing… nothing.”
Sheng Tang broke out in a cold sweat, narrowly avoiding a slip of the tongue.
She had once even doubted whether her own brother liked men, and after proving that he didn’t, she started to suspect if he had some kind of hidden illness…
Of course, she would never say these words to Sheng Yu’s face, unless she wanted to shorten her life.
“Brother, are you serious about Qiao Qiao?”
“Can it be fake?”
Sheng Tang stroked her chin, clicking her tongue in wonder, “You’ve hidden it so well, for so many years, I haven’t noticed any of your feelings for her.”
“It would be strange if you did.”
He even fed her shrimp directly into Qiao Qiao’s mouth, and she was still there “acting like a sister.”
Her IQ, her insight, he even doubted if she was his own sister.
Sheng Tang heard the mockery in his tone and snorted coldly, “Who would have thought that you, a person so cold and aloof, would secretly be thinking about my good friend?”
She was just too trusting of him, so she never thought about it.
“What are you talking about?”
“Nothing… I mean, when did you start liking Qiao Qiao?”
Sheng Yu fell silent for a moment, then slowly said, “I can’t say for sure, it’s been a few years, I guess.”
The first time he met Qiao Shuyi, she was a 14-year-old middle school student.
At that time, in his eyes, she was no different from Sheng Tang.
Like a sister.
It’s just that she and Sheng Tang have different personalities.
She was quiet, introverted, yet she hid her own little thoughts, like a rabbit that hid its claws.
Over the next few years, her relationship with Sheng Tang grew closer and closer, becoming inseparable best friends.
Occasionally, Sheng Tang would bring her home.
Every time she saw him, she would greet him nervously and timidly, calling him “Brother Sheng Yu” shyly.
Later, she and Sheng Tang both went to college.
Because of some things, he hadn’t seen her for a long time.
When he saw her again, she was almost done with her freshman year.
That day, he returned home from a business trip and found a girl in a white dress in the yard. She had long black hair, sat on the swing reading, and her bare feet were swinging gently in the air.
Seeing him push the door open, she quickly jumped off the swing, not even having time to put on her shoes, and nodded to greet him, “Brother Sheng Yu.”
Her voice was very pure, like a clear spring flowing through the mountains, clear and melodious.
He nodded slightly at her, but his eyes couldn’t help but linger on her for a few more seconds.
The nineteen-year-old girl had grown into a graceful and beautiful young woman, with delicate and small features, snow-white skin, and her slender figure gave her a touch of fragility.
She stood there quietly, the white skirt swaying in the breeze, like a jasmine flower quietly blooming.
Perhaps at that moment, he had already fallen for her.
Later, he went home more often.
Just to meet her briefly.
Whenever Sheng Tang mentioned her, he showed no change on his face, but he had already pricked up his ears to listen.
When he realized that his concern and attention for her had gone beyond the scope of “his sister’s best friend”, he had already secretly fallen in love with her.
However, fate is fickle.
The engagement couldn’t go through, and her childhood sweetheart cheated on her.
He thought, how could there be such a blind person in the world?
But he was still grateful to him.
Thank him for his withdrawal, which gave him a “chance”…
“Brother.”
Sheng Tang’s voice suddenly became serious.
Sheng Yu gathered his thoughts and looked up at her.
“Do you like Qiao Qiao because of me?”
In middle school, she was bullied by Sheng Ming Wei and her group, and no one was willing to offend Sheng Ming Wei for her, everyone stood by and watched.
Qiao Qiao was the only one who stood up to protect her.
Sheng Yu didn’t know about this until much later, and he used his own way to help her get revenge, teaching her to fight back.
Although he didn’t say anything, Sheng Tang could feel that because of this incident, he fell into a long period of self-blame and guilt.
And for Qiao Qiao, the only one who helped her, although Sheng Yu’s attitude towards her wasn’t particularly enthusiastic, he was always very polite and respectful, which was a treatment that others didn’t have.
She wondered if this was a factor.
Sheng Yu fell silent for a moment, then said expressionlessly, “You’re too good at giving yourself credit.”
“…”
Sheng Tang: Okay, she was overthinking.
“I like her because she is a good person in her own right, nothing to do with anyone or anything else.”
Sheng Tang clicked her tongue, “Brother, you know what you’re like right now?”
Sheng Yu: “?”
“Lovesick.”
…
The siblings hadn’t sat together and chatted for so long in a long time. After chatting for over an hour, Sheng Yu looked at the watch on his wrist, “It’s almost time, Qiao Qiao is alone downstairs, I have to go down and keep her company.”
“Tsk tsk, you’re already starting to feel sorry for her.”
Sheng Yu ignored her, stood up and prepared to leave.
But Sheng Tang suddenly stopped him, “Brother, I have one request for you.”
Sheng Yu turned back to look at her, without speaking.
“Can I not call her sister-in-law?”
“No.”
“!”
Sheng Tang became anxious, and she shouted, “Why not?! Qiao Qiao is only a few months younger than me!”
“Even if she’s ten years younger than you, you still have to call her that.”
“…”
Damn it, is her objection even useful now?
