Chapter 9: Sleeping With You
Lu Beixun looked at her. The setting sun cast a soft glow on her, adding a layer of gentle filter to the girl before him.
After a while, he looked up at the study window on the second floor, his eyes filled with an unknown meaning.
Noticing his gaze, I followed his line of sight to the study on the second floor. I didn’t see anything unusual. “What’s wrong?” I asked.
Nothing.
We didn’t come back inside until it was almost time for dinner. My father glanced at us, shaking his head. My mother had finished cooking and called us over to eat.
At the dinner table, I served my parents first. My mother couldn’t help but tease me.
I just smiled and put some food on Lu Beixun’s plate. “Dad is so lucky to have a chef mom.”
I was talking to Lu Beixun.
He smiled gently. “Yes, Dad is very lucky.”
My mother was a little embarrassed by the compliment, but my father was unhappy. “My little cotton jacket is leaking.”
“You’re lucky too, just like Dad. I’m lucky to have your mom, and I have you and Luoluo. And you, you’re married now, you married Beixun.”
Cen Xiu’s face turned ugly for a moment, but no one noticed.
Except for the annoying person at the dinner table, the meal was quite pleasant. Lu Beixun served me food many times during the meal.
At the end of the meal, I leaned close to Lu Beixun’s ear and whispered, “Thank you for marrying me.”
He was stunned for a moment, he looked at me, his thin lips pursed, but he didn’t say anything. I didn’t mind. I smiled at him.
I had lived for twenty-two years, and neither in my youth nor in college had dating or marriage been on my agenda.
Marriage was something I thought I’d consider after thirty. I never imagined I’d get married at twenty-two, let alone fall in love.
With Lu Beixun around, Cen Xiu didn’t have much presence. After dinner, he left, using work as an excuse.
Lu Beixun and I stayed until eight o’clock before leaving for Lu’s house.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached out to Lu Beixun.
He hesitated for two seconds before taking my hand and leading me towards the living room.
I smiled, my heart feeling like it was filled with honey.
When we entered the living room, Yang Yi saw our hands clasped together. She was stunned for a few seconds before leaving. It was too awkward for her to stay. She had some sense, or she wouldn’t have been able to keep this job.
We went upstairs. Our rooms were on opposite sides of the hallway. The atmosphere was a little awkward. I nervously tucked my hair behind my ear. “Um… I’m going to my room.”
As soon as I said it, I regretted it. What was I being coy for? Coyness wouldn’t put food on the table, and it wouldn’t help me keep Lu Beixun.
Lu Beixun’s expression was calm. “嗯.”
At that moment, I wanted to slap myself.
He stood there, not moving. He must have been waiting for me to leave first.
“Um, I’m just being a little coy,” I said, mustering my courage. I grabbed the edge of his suit jacket and gently shook it. “I want to sleep in your room, with you.”
Was it really that hard to say? Why didn’t I just say it earlier? This was what I really wanted. No action, no story, no accident.
Seeing that he didn’t say anything, I cleared my throat and asked cautiously, “Can I? Brother?”
The moment I called him “brother,” I got goosebumps all over. But I endured it. They say men can’t resist a sweet “brother.”
My voice was already soft, and when I squeezed it, it became even softer and sweeter. Lu Beixun’s heart skipped a beat.
Seeing my hopeful gaze, he agreed, almost against his will.
At that moment, looking at the soft girl in front of him, he forgot that they were going to get divorced in a year. He had been trying hard to control himself, to avoid getting close to her, to let her go, to give her freedom.
But whenever she acted cute or looked at him with those pitiful eyes, he would surrender. He could never bring himself to be cruel to her, not in the past, not in the future.
I was prepared to be rejected, but I never expected that “brother” to be so effective. I was so excited that I jumped slightly, hooking my arms around Lu Beixun’s neck, my long legs wrapped around his narrow, strong waist.
“Brother, you’re so nice.” This time, I didn’t squeeze my voice.
I didn’t know that this “brother” touched Lu Beixun more than the one I had squeezed.
It was like a soft feather brushing against his heart. Afraid I would fall, he went to unwrap my legs, but before he could touch me, I jumped off him. A flicker of disappointment crossed his dark eyes.
“Don’t lock the door,” I said with a bright smile. “I’ll go back to my room and get a change of clothes.”
Actually, this time, I wasn’t worried he would lock the door.
I was in a great mood. I skipped back to my room, like a little kid going home from school. I was even humming a tune from some song.
Seeing her cheerful back, Lu Beixun’s lips curved slightly.
She really had changed so much…
He didn’t turn around until she went into her room.
This time, I stayed in my room for more than ten minutes. I didn’t just grab a change of clothes; I grabbed several sets. Besides pajamas, I also took some casual clothes. I moved them all to his room first.
When I got to his room, he was in the bathroom. I took advantage of this time to go back and organize my toiletries and skincare products, especially my perfume. It was a must-have.
While he was in the bathroom, I practically moved my whole life into his room. The only thing missing was the furniture.
But his bedroom was big enough. I could fit all my stuff in there without it feeling cramped.
I went back and forth so many times that I was exhausted. I sat on the bed, panting. I never exercised. I had a driver, so my little body lacked any training.
If it hadn’t been for moving all this stuff, I wouldn’t have realized how weak I was. At that moment, I made a promise to myself: I would wake up at six and run on the treadmill for forty minutes.
Otherwise, with my weak body, if Lu Beixun ever ran away, I wouldn’t be able to catch him.
I lay down on the bed and sighed silently. It was as if I thought that if I exercised, I could catch him. At best, I could only struggle.
Suddenly, I remembered something. If I wasn’t mistaken, Lu Beixun would go to the gym after he woke up.
This was my chance. I had to seize it.
Lu Beixun came out of the bathroom and saw my clothes all over the bed. He was slightly stunned.
I followed his gaze to the bed. I knew that Lu Beixun not only had a clean freak side, but also had OCD. His room had to be neat and tidy. The bed had to be clean, except for the pillows and blankets.
Afraid he would dislike it, I quickly said, “I’ll tidy up right away.”
He walked over and naturally used a towel to wipe the water from his hair. “Go wash up first.”
There were still a few drops of water on his neck. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke, incredibly sexy. I stared at him. It was like he was tempting me to commit a crime.
A steamy scene flashed through my mind.
I shook my head. I desperately needed a packet of stain remover. My words came out in a stutter. “Um… I’ll take a shower first.”
“Clean up after you’re done.”
