Chapter 15: It’s Me Who Forgave You

Cen Wan just muttered that with a hint of resentment, but she didn’t bring it up again.  She couldn’t bring herself to be angry with him.

She wanted to take things slowly.  As long as she could stay by his side, she wouldn’t ask for anything more.  But people are greedy, especially when it comes to someone they love.  Once you taste a little sweetness, you want more.

She snuggled into Lu Beixun’s arms.  “Lu Beixun, you might not believe me, but I still want to tell you, from the beginning, I’ve only liked and loved you.  I’ll be good to you from now on.  I won’t cause trouble anymore.”

She paused and continued, “Back then, you must have been very hurt and angry.  I’m sorry.  It was my fault.”

Lu Beixun wrapped her hand in his.  “Why are you suddenly saying all this?”

“You have to say you like someone and love them,” Cen Wan said.  “And I want to apologize.  I should have apologized to you a long time ago.”

She looked up at him.  “I know not all apologies can be met with ‘it’s okay.’  Don’t feel pressured.  I just did what I should have done.”

Lu Beixun gently stroked her hair.  He leaned closer and kissed her softly on the corner of her lips, then pulled away.

No matter what had happened between them, no matter how Cen Wan had treated him before, he was truly angry, but he couldn’t stay angry at her forever, especially when she was constantly trying to make things right.

Cen Wan stared at him, speechless for a moment.  She lightly touched the spot where his lips had touched hers.  She could still feel the warmth of his lips.  “You…”

“Go to sleep.”

“Okay.”  Cen Wan obediently snuggled into his arms.  Her heart was filled with sweetness.  She only knew that Lu Beixun had kissed her, but she didn’t know the meaning behind the kiss.

– It’s me who forgave you.

For several days, Cen Wan didn’t have nightmares anymore.  Maybe she was slowly adjusting to her reborn life, or maybe it was because he was by her side.  With him, she wasn’t so afraid anymore.

All her fear stemmed from the fear of losing him again.

She knew how painful it was to lose him once.  So, no matter what, she couldn’t lose him again.

Six ten in the morning.  Lu Beixun called her name a few times, but the person in the bed didn’t even open her eyes.  She turned over and continued to sleep.

Lu Beixun looked down at her for a few seconds before throwing back the covers.  But then, he paused, and he put the covers back over her.

Cen Wan’s nightgown had ridden up to her stomach.

Lu Beixun’s jaw tightened.  “Cen Wan, get up!”

He wrapped her in the blanket and forced her to sit up.  Cen Wan was still half-asleep.  Even though she was sitting up, she didn’t want to open her eyes.  She pleaded, “Coach Lu, please have mercy on this child, okay?”

“This child really doesn’t have any athletic talent.”

Lu Beixun said, “Do you want to eat vegetables for all three meals?”

“No…”

“I’ll give you five minutes.  Get up if you don’t want to.”

Cen Wan: “…”

Forced exercise, day two…

This child wants to go home to her mommy…

Running wasn’t as unbearable or tiring today.  She wasn’t gasping for breath as much as before.

After breakfast, Lu Beixun went to work, and Cen Wan went home to learn how to cook from her mother.  Today, she learned how to pan-fry steak.  Cen Wan learned quickly and couldn’t wait to make it for Lu Beixun.

When she got back to Lu’s house, she went straight to the kitchen and started cooking.  Her mother wasn’t there, so she was a little clumsy, but the food looked good when she finished.

Cen Wan had a real talent for cooking.

Within a few days, she had learned all of her mother’s cooking skills.  Lu Beixun could tell she had made the food as soon as he tasted it, but he didn’t expose her.  He just repeatedly told Yang Yi that someone had to be around when she was cooking.

Seeing that Lu Beixun loved her cooking, Cen Wan felt like it was all worth it.

For several days, Lu Beixun had been pulling her out of bed at six in the morning.  Later, she seemed to get used to it.  She would wake up at the right time.  After a few days of exercise, she could clearly feel her body getting better.  Her mood and sleep quality had both improved.

Lu Beixun went to the company.  She received a call.  The person had found out.  Cen Wan told the person on the other end of the line to make an appointment.

Cen Wan went out in the afternoon.  She didn’t take the driver with her.  She went to a coffee shop.

When she entered the coffee shop, she saw a familiar man in the corner.  It was the man she had seen talking to Cen Xiu in the office before she was reborn.  She had run into him coming out of the office the second time she went to find Cen Xiu.

Cen Wan curled her lips.  A cold glint flashed in her clear eyes.  He was partly responsible for the Cen family’s downfall.

She walked over and sat down opposite him.  The man looked up at her.  Cen Wan got straight to the point.  “Li Chaoyang, thirty years old, son-in-law of the Zhou family in Kyoto.  All his money comes from the Zhou family.  He cheated two years ago.  He has a one-year-old son in Jiangcheng.”

Li Chaoyang’s eyes widened in disbelief.  “How did you…”

No one knew about his affair.  He had been careful.  If anyone found out, he would be kicked out with nothing.  He wouldn’t get anything from the Zhou family.

Cen Wan curled her lips.  “I know more than you think.”

Over the past two years, Li Chaoyang had cheated more than once.  Of course, his wife, Zhou Yang, wasn’t any better.  She played around more than he did.  But she was a Zhou family member, so she had more power.  Li Chaoyang was different.  Everything he had now was given to him by the Zhou family.

Li Chaoyang wasn’t very capable.  The only reason Zhou Yang didn’t divorce him was because of his face.  His face was about 80% similar to Zhou Yang’s deceased boyfriend.

Li Chaoyang nervously clutched the edge of his clothes.  Zhou Yang had said that everything he had was given to him by the Zhou family.  If he dared to do anything wrong to her, she would make sure he died.

“Miss Cen, what do you want to say?”

Li Chaoyang knew who she was because he had dealt with Cen Xiu.  He had met her a few times.

Cen Wan’s cold eyes stared straight at him.  “Mr. Li, do you know anything about the Cen family’s funds being embezzled and company secrets being leaked?”

He was so nervous that a fine layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.  Li Chaoyang wiped his forehead.  If you looked closely, you could see his hands trembling.  “I… I don’t know.”

Cen Wan smiled.  “Since you don’t know, I think I need to bring your one-year-old son back from Jiangcheng to meet his father.”

“After all, he’s your biological son.  He’s been living without a home.  It’s not good, right?”

Li Chaoyang was incredibly nervous.  He kept fidgeting nervously.  If his wife and son came back, he wouldn’t get anything from the Zhou family, not to mention that if Zhou Lao Ye Zi found out that he had been cheating and betrayed his daughter, he would die a horrible death.

His face was pale.  He had to quickly move his wife and son, find a new city where they wouldn’t be found.

Cen Wan knew what he was thinking.  “Don’t worry, I’ve taken them to a safe place.  They’re being well taken care of.”

“Miss Cen, what are you trying to do?”  Li Chaoyang couldn’t hold it in anymore.  He didn’t love any of the women he had cheated with, including the woman who had given birth to his son, but he cared about his son very much.

“Cen’s company was facing bankruptcy.  Did Cen Xiu do it?”  Cen Wan didn’t beat around the bush.

Seeing that Li Chaoyang didn’t say anything, Cen Wan lost her patience.  “Mr. Li, you can choose not to answer.  But I can’t guarantee that I won’t do anything to a child.”
