Chapter 23: I Like Your Arrogance
Hearing Cen Xiu’s words, Cen Wan understood what was going on. She ignored Cen Xiu, her voice cold and emotionless, “Cen Luoluo, did you forget what I told you? Don’t meddle in my business.”
Cen Wan’s cold voice made Cen Luoluo feel unfamiliar. Cen Luoluo felt a little wronged. This was a family matter. How could it be considered meddling? Although she thought this way, she didn’t want to make Cen Wan angry. She looked at Cen Xiu with difficulty and nodded, “I know.”
Cen Xiu: “Wanwan, don’t blame Luoluo.”
Cen Wan coldly swept her gaze over him. Her icy gaze made Cen Xiu’s heart skip a beat. He then turned his gaze back to Cen Luoluo, “Go upstairs.”
Cen Luoluo hesitated and nodded, turning to go upstairs. She didn’t understand. Cen Wan and Cen Xiu had been so close, like siblings, just a few days ago. How could they be like this now?
Had something happened?
She went back to her room with questions in her mind.
Cen Wan sat down on the sofa, not giving Cen Xiu a second glance. Cen Xiu was sensitive and could clearly feel Cen Wan’s hostility towards him.
He asked, “Wanwan, did I do something to upset you?”
A hint of mockery flashed in Cen Wan’s eyes. Upset? It was more than upset. It was hatred. Hatred filled every nerve in her body. If she had lived in a time when murder wasn’t illegal, the person in front of her would have been dismembered by now.
She couldn’t be impulsive now. She had family and loved ones. She couldn’t bear to lose Lu Beixun. She would find evidence and use the law to punish him.
The fire at Cen’s family hadn’t happened yet. She could only focus on the fact that Cen’s company’s funds were being embezzled and its secrets were being leaked.
Cen Wan said casually, “I’m married. No matter how good our relationship is, we’re not related by blood. We should keep our distance. Lu Beixun will be jealous.”
Her words left Cen Xiu speechless. He didn’t know what to say.
After a long silence, Cen Xiu said, “But we’ve always been like this…”
Cen Wan didn’t deny it. She “嗯”ed, “I didn’t have any boundaries before. Now I do.”
She had always known that Lu Beixun cared about her relationship with Cen Xiu. In the previous life, the more Lu Beixun cared, the more she tried to make him unhappy. Thinking back, she really deserved to die. She deserved to be in a love-hate relationship.
Lu Beixun was really being kind to her now.
Cen Xiu was speechless for a moment. Cen Wan thought of something and suddenly raised her eyebrows to look at him, “You said that Cen’s company almost went bankrupt because of Lu Beixun, right?”
He was slightly stunned and said, “In Kyoto, besides Lu’s company, no one else could have caused Cen’s company to face bankruptcy.”
Cen Wan heard the implication in his words. He was implying that Lu Beixun was the one who did it. Only Lu Beixun had the ability.
She smiled and didn’t refute Cen Xiu’s words, “Then Lu Beixun is quite capable. He first caused Cen’s company to face bankruptcy and then brought it back to life. Moreover, its economic development is even better than before.”
Cen Xiu couldn’t believe that these words came from the person in front of him. Just a short time ago, she had hated Lu Beixun to the core.
“Wanwan, Lu Beixun used underhanded tactics… How can you say that?” Cen Xiu was full of disappointment.
Besides disappointment, if you looked closely, you could see worry, worry about his plan.
Cen Wan saw through it but didn’t say anything. She smiled nonchalantly, “What underhanded tactics? Don’t say that. He was just too in love with me.”
Cen Xiu’s brow furrowed. He looked at her with a confused expression.
At that moment, Cen Xiu saw a figure walking towards them through the floor-to-ceiling window. His heart skipped a beat, and his gaze fell on Cen Wan.
Cen Wan didn’t notice the figure outside. She leaned lazily on the sofa. Suddenly, Cen Xiu walked to her side, grabbed her arm, and forced her to stand up.
The difference in strength between men and women was obvious. Cen Wan was a weakling, and Cen Xiu easily lifted her up.
Cen Wan had just reacted when Cen Xiu hugged her tightly. He shouted, “Wanwan, look at me. I never wanted to be your brother. I never wanted to…”
“Wanwan, I love you.”
Lu Beixun, who was standing at the entrance of the living room, had a dark expression. His whole body exuded a murderous aura, and his eyes were sharp.
Cen Wan’s back was to Lu Beixun. She didn’t notice Lu Beixun at the entrance of the living room. She frowned, forcing down her disgust, and used all her strength to push Cen Xiu away.
“Slap!” A crisp slap echoed through the living room. Cen Wan had used all her strength. She didn’t know if Cen Xiu’s face hurt, but her hand was numb.
She looked at Cen Xiu and coldly spat out two words, “Disgusting.”
Cen Wan felt a chill down her spine. She turned her head and was stunned. She knew that Cen Xiu’s sudden change was definitely a scheme.
Lu Beixun’s expression softened slightly. He strode to Cen Wan’s side, took her hand, and checked it. Her palm was red. He asked, “Does it hurt?”
She nodded, her voice soft, with a clear hint of coquettishness, “It hurts so much.”
Lu Beixun reached out and touched her face. He pulled her behind him, his eyes sharp as he looked at Cen Xiu, “Cen, please respect yourself.”
His aura was gloomy, “If you dare to harass my wife again, I think you know what I’m capable of.”
Cen Xiu had just recovered from the slap. He was already angry about the slap, and now Lu Beixun was provoking him. He couldn’t take it anymore, “Do you dare? Our twenty-year relationship, can you compare to that?”
Lu Beixun’s eyes flashed with a murderous aura. His expression was dark and unclear, but Cen Xiu knew that the man in front of him, who was decisive and feared by everyone, had no confidence in this matter.
“Of course, it can’t be compared.” Cen Wan walked out from behind Lu Beixun.
Lu Beixun’s fingertips twitched. He looked at her, his eyes complex.
Cen Wan smiled at him, giving him a reassuring smile, “Lu Beixun is my husband. He’s the person I’ll spend the rest of my life with. Cen Xiu, what can you compare to him? A bloodless family relationship?”
Her gaze fell on Cen Xiu. The smile on Cen Wan’s lips became even more sarcastic.
Lu Beixun’s thin lips pursed slightly. He looked at her in disbelief. Cen Wan took his hand, her fingertips rubbing against the back of his hand.
Cen Xiu couldn’t say a word. He didn’t know why Cen Wan had suddenly changed. She was completely different from before.
“Go upstairs with me to take a shower and change clothes. I’m so dirty.” Cen Wan’s face was full of undisguised disgust.
Lu Beixun calmly “嗯”ed.
Cen Wan didn’t look at Cen Xiu again. She took Lu Beixun to her bedroom. Half an hour later, she came out of the bathroom, changed clothes, and threw the clothes she had been wearing into the trash can.
It was a pity. She really liked this dress. If it hadn’t been dirty, she wouldn’t have thrown it away.
She looked at Lu Beixun, who was sitting on the lazy sofa without saying a word. She smiled and walked over, throwing herself into his arms. Lu Beixun caught her steadily.
Cen Wan raised her head and pinched his face, “You’re not talking. Are you angry?”
She knew she was asking a stupid question. What man wouldn’t be angry when he saw his woman being taken advantage of by another man?
Lu Beixun took her restless hand and turned his face away.
“You’re so arrogant. I like it.” Cen Wan wouldn’t let him sulk alone. She pinched his chin, turned his face towards her, and kissed his lips.
