Chapter 74: Scorching Heaven

Wang Zhi walked out of the Guard Headquarters and went straight to the Armory Hall, where he purchased 500 survival points’ worth of ammunition in preparation for the upcoming mission.

This time, their journey would take them into the most densely populated city center, where the presence of zombies was inevitable.

Back at the residence, everyone was busy cleaning and maintaining their weapons. After distributing the ammunition according to their respective calibers, Wang Zhi ensured that each person received five spare magazines. These spare magazines were preloaded and could be swapped in quickly during combat without the need to reload manually. However, if all five spare magazines were depleted and zombies were still advancing, they would have no choice but to resort to melee weapons until the skirmish ended and they had time to refill their magazines.

Removing his weighted training vest, Wang Zhi immediately felt lighter, as if an extra surge of energy was coursing through his body with nowhere to go.

Just then, the Scorching Heaven meteoric iron dagger that Su Muying had purchased for 2000 survival points was delivered. The packaging came in a metal case. After pressing the unlock button, a hiss sound accompanied a rush of cold air, generating a misty vapor as it met the outside air.

Seeing the high-end packaging, Wang Zhi couldn’t help but think, This box alone must be worth at least 50 survival points.

As the steam cleared, the dagger inside was finally revealed. It measured 45 centimeters in length, its black metallic surface emitting faint traces of a violet glow. The jagged, serrated edge exuded a menacing aura of lethal precision.

“So this is a 2000 survival points dagger? Damn, it looks so cool! Whoa—it’s freezing!” Fatty reached out to touch Scorching Heaven but immediately recoiled, his fingers numbed by the extreme cold.

“Tch, are you stupid, Fatty? Didn’t you see the display on the case? It says it’s stored at -30 degrees!” Su Muying scoffed at him.

After the cooling system shut off and the temperature returned to zero degrees, Su Muying finally picked up Scorching Heaven. The moment she gripped the dagger, her presence became even more intimidating.

She mimicked the motion that Liu Li had previously demonstrated with Ye Linglong—the technique of slicing bullets mid-air. Instead of an overhead strike, she merely pressed the dagger against a bullet placed on the table and applied slight pressure. In an instant, the bullet split cleanly in two, as if it were no more than a soft vegetable.

The room fell into a stunned silence, the others now wondering if they had been using fake bullets all along.

As Su Muying stood there, gripping Scorching Heaven, a faint tremor ran through her hand. Her normally cold and indifferent gaze lost focus, and a dark glint of greed flickered in her eyes.

“Hey, Su, are you alright?” Old He asked cautiously, noticing her growing intensity.

“This… this is… power?” Su Muying muttered through gritted teeth, her voice twisted with an eerie undertone. Then, her unfocused gaze landed on the five of them.

“Uh, hey Fatty… what’s happening to Sister Su?” Zhang Ming whispered.

“Based on my years of experience, I’d say she’s fallen into some kind of inner demon. If this keeps up, we’re all gonna die,” Fatty analyzed in a shaky voice.

“Then why aren’t we running?” Zhang Ming asked, confused.

“Yeah… why aren’t we running?” Fatty suddenly realized, his voice trembling.

“Ahhh!”

Su Muying let out a wild laugh, sending Fatty and Zhang Ming scrambling for the door in terror.

“Ahahahaha!” Su Muying continued laughing maniacally.

“Hey, Su, could you try acting more like Liu Li—y’know, mature?” Wang Zhi said flatly, his expression completely unimpressed.

“Tch, you’re no fun.” Su Muying snapped out of it, stabbing Scorching Heaven into the table before lazily flopping back onto the sofa to continue watching her movie.

Wang Zhi let out a long sigh of relief. For a moment there, he had almost believed she had truly lost it—he had been this close to drawing his gun.

Liu Li, sitting to the side, was just as shaken, while Old He, for the sake of maintaining his composure, stubbornly stayed put despite the tension in his shoulders.
