Hearing Shen Yuling’s straightforward expression, Feng Moheng couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
His hand, which was resting behind her, gently caressed her.
Perhaps it was a good thing that Shen Yuling couldn’t remember the past.
Since she entered the residence of Prince Lingyang, both he and Liu Jingyi had caused her much pain.
Now that she had forgotten, he would give her a beautiful and happy fresh start.
He would ensure that from now on, she would only know happiness and laughter.
As these thoughts filled his heart, warmth spread within him, dispelling the recent gloom.
At that moment, he was so close to Shen Yuling that he could almost feel her breath.
With a sudden impulse, he leaned in and kissed her lips.
Shen Yuling was taken aback, her eyes widening as if it were her first kiss.
Her beautiful eyes were filled with astonishment, and she instinctively blinked a few times with her long lashes.
Her gaze inadvertently flicked to Physician Su, who was focused on writing a prescription at the table.
A flush crept onto her cheeks.
Hastily, she pushed Feng Moheng away and shyly said, “Husband, there’s someone here…”
Feng Moheng realized he had been a bit too hasty.
Although they had been intimate before, she was currently suffering from amnesia.
He needed to take things slow.
Feng Moheng regained his composure and turned to Physician Su.
“Physician, why has my wife lost her memory?”
Physician Su shifted his gaze from the prescription to Feng Moheng.
“Your Highness, the princess suffered a severe head injury. The head is where the spirit resides, with various meridians and blood circulating that maintain memory, consciousness, and other functions.”
“Due to the heavy injury, the meridians in her head were damaged, causing a disruption in her qi and blood, which likely resulted in her amnesia.”
“That she has survived such a dangerous situation is already a miracle; losing her memory can be considered a blessing.”
Feng Moheng asked again, “Is it possible for my wife’s memory to return?”
Physician Su nodded slightly.
“She just needs to follow my prescription and recuperate well. Over time, as her qi stabilizes and she takes some calming medicine, her memory should return.”
“However, the specific time required for this is uncertain.”
Feng Moheng pondered privately.
Whether or not her memory would return didn’t seem as important now.
He turned to look at Shen Yuling, who was obediently leaning against him.
She seemed to trust and rely on him even more than before her amnesia.
“When can my wife return to the residence?”
Feng Moheng asked Physician Su once more.
“Since the princess has awakened and is in good health, she can return today,” Physician Su replied.
“This is the prescription I’ve prepared for her. She should take the medicine according to it. In five days, I will go to the residence to check her pulse again and adjust the prescription as needed.”
“Thank you, Physician.” Feng Moheng said.
Xi Tong stepped forward to take the prescription.

After Shen Yuling returned to the residence, Feng Moheng concealed her amnesia from her.
Following the assassination attempt at the Lantern Festival, Feng Moheng was suspicious.
He meticulously investigated the matter.
However, the more he looked into it, the more alarmed he became.
Though he found no direct connection to Liu Jingyi, he discovered that the assassins had intricate ties to people within the palace.
From the beginning, Feng Moheng had vaguely suspected that this assassination was not aimed at him.
Upon discovering the palace connections, he couldn’t help but link the mastermind to Liu Zhaoyi.
Liu Zhaoyi’s plans on the Tianchang Festival had failed, and she had been angered when Shen Yuling caused the Emperor to be drugged.
In the palace, the Emperor seemed to have indeed been somewhat neglectful towards Liu Zhaoyi recently.
If Liu Zhaoyi had developed a grudge against Shen Yuling because of this…
She might have taken advantage of the bustling Lantern Festival to carry out the assassination and then frame someone else, using Liu Jingyi to take the blade for her.
In this way, she could eliminate Shen Yuling while simultaneously garnering more of Feng Moheng’s pity for Liu Jingyi through her act of bravery. It was a two-birds-with-one-stone scenario.
But…
Should he really think this way?
Liu Jingyi’s wound was so deep; would she really dare to take such a risk?
Feng Moheng had an inkling of suspicion already.
However, without concrete evidence before him, he preferred not to believe it.
He could only hope that everything was not as grim as he imagined.
He liked the innocent and kind Liu Jingyi.
At the tender age of eight, she had unhesitatingly shielded him with her own body, leaving an indelible mark in his heart.
Every time they went out together, she would stop and, with compassion in her eyes, give food or coins to beggars on the street.
Her kindness had warmed many hearts, including his.
Had he made a mistake?
Had he sparked Liu Jingyi’s jealousy, causing her to turn into someone so vicious?
As he thought of this, Feng Moheng’s brow furrowed tightly.
After bringing Shen Yuling back to the residence, Feng Moheng deliberately prevented Liu Jingyi from having any contact with Shen Yuling.
Previously, he had intended for the two to vie for his affection, fulfilling his own twisted desires.
But now, Liu Jingyi’s actions seemed increasingly beyond his control.
Feng Moheng felt helpless.
He could only choose to keep Liu Jingyi in the dark about anything related to him and Shen Yuling.
This was the only way to temporarily stabilize the situation.
Moreover, Yuling had lost her memory and was unaware of Liu Jingyi’s previous actions against her.
If she were to learn that Liu Jingyi had been repeatedly scheming against her, given Yuling’s stubborn character, she would likely not let Liu Jingyi off easily.
After all, Yuling had slapped Liu Jingyi upon returning from the palace, and Feng Moheng had already witnessed another side of Shen Yuling.
In light of this, Feng Moheng even felt relieved that she had lost her memory.
If she had remembered and investigated the assassination connection to Liu Jingyi, she would not let it go easily.
At that point, he would be left in a difficult position.
Feng Moheng sighed.
He had truly shot himself in the foot with his own actions.
In the days that followed, Feng Moheng visited Ninglan Courtyard daily to see Shen Yuling.
Shen Yuling showed no hesitation in interacting with the servants in the courtyard.
Every time Feng Moheng arrived, she would affectionately hold his hand as they entered the room together.
It truly appeared very intimate.
Initially, Bai Hua observed the closeness between the prince and the princess and couldn’t help but frown.
Looking down at the ground, her thoughts were tangled.
Recently, Eunuch Li seemed to have lost interest in the matters concerning the princess. Could it be that she had fallen out of favor with the Emperor?
Was the princess considering finding a new way to secure her position?
Was she preparing to win the prince’s affections wholeheartedly?
But the princess was, after all, the Emperor’s woman; could the Emperor truly tolerate his woman being so close to another man?
Forget it, it was no longer her concern; she had already said what needed to be said.
As for whether Eunuch Li would report this matter to the Emperor, that was beyond her control.
Yet…
Bai Hua still hoped to return to the palace alongside the princess.
Being a close maid in the palace was certainly more promising than being a dispensable servant in the residence of Prince Lingyang.
