Chapter 28: Brother Likes Sister So Much

Jian Ruo Ci didn’t call Yan Xi again, afraid she would be cold sleeping on the floor, so she got another blanket for her.

After she went to the bathroom to wash up, she went out to buy breakfast and brought it back. When she returned, Yan Xi was already awake. She was wearing a loose-fitting long dress and pajamas and came out of the bedroom.

She yawned, her eyes closed, walking entirely by instinct.

Yan Xi squinted her eyes, looking at Jian Ruo Ci. She glanced at the breakfast in her hand and said lazily, “A-Ci, what am I going to do with you? I love you so much.”

“I’ll give myself to you. Do you want me?”

Jian Ruo Ci placed the breakfast on the dining table, opened the bathroom door for Yan Xi, and gestured for her to enter. “I refuse.”

Yan Xi widened her eyes, put her hands on her hips, and glared at Jian Ruo Ci. “I’m as beautiful as a goddess, a celestial being. It’s your good fortune that I like you. How dare you refuse me?”

“Fine, I don’t want you either!”

“If I can’t be your wife, then I’ll be your sister-in-law.”

Jian Ruo Ci walked over to her and pulled her ear. She didn’t use much force. “Yan Xi, you’re not a good person. You’re a beast.”

“Jian Xu is so young. You’re eight years older than him!”

“What does eight years mean!”

“Stop with this cougar-cub behavior!”

“Hey!” Yan Xi looked at Jian Ruo Ci with a lewd smile. “What if I like cougars? What if I like older women?”

“Can you make Jian Xu sacrifice himself?”

Jian Ruo Ci rolled her eyes at her. She was hopeless. She said, “Jian Xu is only fifteen years old. Give up that crooked idea.”

“When he turns eighteen, if he’s willing to be ravaged by you, an old cow, then I have no objections.”

Yan Xi slapped Jian Ruo Ci’s hand away and walked into the bathroom. She squeezed some toothpaste and started brushing her teeth. “You’re not a real sister.”

“If there was an older woman who coveted my brother, even if she was my best friend, I would fight her to the death.”

“Only you have such a big heart.”

Jian Ruo Ci leaned against the bathroom doorframe. “Jian Xu is an independent individual. As long as he doesn’t kill or break the law, I won’t interfere too much in his affairs. I respect all his decisions.”

Jian Xu had suffered a lot these years. She hoped that he could be happy in the future, simple and straightforward, able to make decisions for his own life. That would be enough.

“Jian Xu is truly lucky to have a good sister like you.” Yan Xi said while brushing her teeth, her mouth full of foam.

Jian Ruo Ci curled her lips, a subtle bitterness in her eyes.

If it weren’t for her, Jian Xu would at least have his parents’ love. She had killed Jian Xu’s parents.

After breakfast, Jian Ruo Ci took a taxi back to the old villa.

After returning to the old villa, Jian Ruo Ci didn’t go out for three days. In those three days, she completed a design draft. At this rate, she could finish early.

The refrigerator was empty after three days of not going out.

On Sunday morning, she decided to relax. Designing was different from manual labor. She needed to rest properly. If she pushed herself too hard, it would backfire.

She changed into casual clothes and went to the mall where she had been with Pei Yan Zhou.

She wasn’t in a hurry. She strolled through the mall, pushing a shopping cart. She reached the fast food section. She had been staying in her bedroom all day for the past few days, with no time to cook. She had been surviving on instant noodles and frozen dumplings, trying to finish a meal in ten minutes.

She looked at the various flavors of instant noodles on the shelves and threw one of each into her shopping cart.

She would get tired of eating instant noodles every day, so she went to the frozen food section and grabbed two bags of frozen dumplings and wontons. She also bought two cartons of milk. This time, she stocked up for a week.

Next week, she decided not to step out of the villa. She would try to design two drafts a day for six days, and spend one day relaxing and finding design inspiration.

She looked at the items in her shopping cart and realized she had forgotten the most crucial thing: coffee.

She needed coffee to keep her going.

She went back and bought two boxes of coffee. Everything in her shopping cart was essential for lazy people.

No, she wasn’t lazy. She just didn’t want to waste her time making money. Time is money.

She had bought everything she needed. There was nothing else to buy. She had unknowingly wandered to the area where she had been with Pei Yan Zhou.

She looked at the spot where she had almost bumped into the little boy. The image of her and Pei Yan Zhou in that ambiguous position flashed through her mind.

Someone poked her waist from behind. Her thoughts were pulled back. She turned around and saw the little boy who had almost bumped into her that day.

“Sister.” The little boy smiled at her.

Jian Ruo Ci smiled back and squatted down in front of him. “You again. We’ve met again. Where’s your mom?”

The little boy pointed to a woman standing in front of a shelf. “My mom is over there. Sister, I didn’t run around this time.”

“I saw you spacing out. I said goodbye to my mom before coming over.”

Jian Ruo Ci reached out and touched his head. “You’re so good.”

“Sister, didn’t your brother come with you?” The little boy tilted his head and blinked, his eyes clear and innocent.

Jian Ruo Ci wanted to explain that she and Pei Yan Zhou weren’t close enough to go shopping together yet, but children wouldn’t understand that much explanation.

“Brother is busy.”

“I guessed so.” The little boy said. “Brother likes sister so much. If he wasn’t busy, he would definitely be with sister.”

Brother likes sister so much…

Pei Yan Zhou likes her? That’s impossible!

She reached out and gently pinched his cheek. He was so young but so smart. “How do you know he likes sister so much?”

The little boy said, “We kids have superpowers. We never lie.”

Jian Ruo Ci laughed. “I believe you have superpowers.”

At that moment, the little boy’s mother finished shopping and came over. She smiled and nodded at Jian Ruo Ci.

“It’s time to go home with mom.” Jian Ruo Ci said. “Sister comes to this mall often. We’ll meet again.”

“Hmm.” The little boy said. “Goodbye, sister. Next time, I hope to see brother come with you.”

The little boy took his mother’s hand and left.

Jian Ruo Ci browsed the supermarket for a while before checking out and leaving. She had bought so many things that she had two bags. She carried one in each hand. Although she had bought a lot of things, they weren’t particularly heavy.

She had been at the mall for about an hour. When she came out, it was raining heavily. The weather wasn’t good when she left.

She thought she would be back soon after buying things at the mall, so she didn’t bring an umbrella.

She checked her pockets. She hadn’t brought her phone either…

She couldn’t even call a taxi. It would take almost half an hour to walk to the intersection in the rain to hail a taxi.

She hadn’t just forgotten her phone. She had forgotten her brain.

Brains are good things, but she had left hers at home.

It wasn’t easy to relax for a day, but she had encountered this terrible weather.

Her original plan was to go to the mall first to stock up on food for a week, then go home, take a shower, curl up on the sofa and watch TV, take a nap at noon, play games at night, and then devote herself to work the next day.

But this heavy rain had disrupted her plans. Who would come to her rescue…
