Chapter 38: Be Good, Don’t Cry
Pei Yanzhou laughed, “My own brother, don’t be so polite.”
Jian Jinci: “…”
What was with the sleaziness?
She said, “Xu just called you uncle.”
“He’ll change his mind.” Pei Yanzhou’s eyes were filled with gentle tenderness.
Then he said calmly, “I thought you would let her go.”
Jian Jinci laughed self-deprecatingly, “Maybe I would have before, but not now.”
No one ever thought of letting her and Jian Xu go, they wanted to push them to the brink, trample their self-esteem underfoot, and watch them in their pathetic state, lost in their own delight.
She raised an eyebrow and looked at Pei Yanzhou, “Besides, you’re a big shot, it’s not too much to use your identity to vent my anger, right?”
Pei Yanzhou’s tone was indulgent, “Not too much.”
He moved closer to Jian Jinci, his lips curled up, “Me and my identity, you’re allowed to use them, without my permission.”
“Or, become Mrs. Pei, everything of mine is yours, and so am I.”
In the space between them, Pei Yanzhou looked at her with ambiguous and affectionate eyes.
Her heart fluttered instantly, a feeling she couldn’t explain was slowly fermenting in her heart, she stared at him blankly, “It’s okay to use you?”
“I’m willing to be used by you.”
“No strings attached?” she asked, he was a businessman, it wasn’t his style to ask for nothing in return.
“The reward is you.” Pei Yanzhou, “I’ll wait for your heart to be clean, and for you to willingly stay by my side.”
“During this time, I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do.”
His tone was firm.
“What if I don’t?” Jian Jinci’s eyes narrowed, she gave a playful smile, adding a touch of girlish playfulness.
Pei Yanzhou, “You will.”
Jian Jinci snorted, “Narcissistic.”
The topic ended, her eyes dimmed, she murmured, “Pei Yanzhou, I’m not a good person, to be honest, I’m just like Yu Tian, I’m vindictive and scheming.”
“I even thought about using you, I’m not talking about this.”
After the argument with Liang Jinyu when she went back to the Jian family that day, on the way home, she thought about getting close to Pei Yanzhou, using his identity and status to protect Jian Xu.
If Jian Xu had really been expelled that day, she would have done everything she could to get close to Pei Yanzhou.
From the time of the party, she knew that she might be a little different to Pei Yanzhou.
She hung her head, her eyelashes fluttering.
“If you want to use me, you have to think about getting close to me first.” Pei Yanzhou looked at her casually, “How do you want to get close?”
“Why don’t I give you an idea.”
He leaned close to her ear, his voice low, “Seduction.”
“I’ll take the bait.”
The warmth of his breath sprayed against her ear, tickling her.
Jian Jinci’s originally low mood was dispelled by his few words, she pushed him away in anger, and angrily called his name, “Pei Yanzhou!”
Pei Yanzhou took two steps back, watching her with amusement, “What?”
“Can you be serious?”
“Okay.” Pei Yanzhou, “I’ll listen to my wife.”
“Get lost!” Jian Jinci was furious, “Who’s your wife! Don’t talk nonsense.”
She stormed off, ignoring Pei Yanzhou.
Pei Yanzhou followed behind her, saying, “So soon you don’t want to admit it?”
“A certain little girl said I’m handsome and wants to marry me.”
“How come you don’t recognize me anymore?”
Jian Jinci stopped, searching her memory for the phrase.
Did she say that?
She was absolutely sure she never said it. She turned around and glared at him, “Pei Yanzhou, stop framing me, I never said that.”
“Trying to back out?”
Jian Jinci: “…”
What did she mean by trying to back out? She had no memory of it at all. Did she say it in her drunken stupor?
It wasn’t impossible. She was a sucker for good looks, and it wouldn’t be strange for her to say such things when drunk. She stammered, “Words said after drinking don’t count.”
“So words said after drinking don’t count, but words said when sober do?” Pei Yanzhou’s eyes flashed with a hint of a dark light, fleeting.
“Of course.” Jian Jinci, “Words said when sober don’t count, isn’t that just pure hooliganism?”
That’s how she saw it anyway.
Pei Yanzhou, “Remember what you said.”
“I’ll hold you to it.”
With that, he walked towards the outdoor parking lot of the school, his figure tall and slender, the April sun shining on him, adding a touch of softness.
Jian Jinci looked at his back with a puzzled expression.
What did he mean?
She chased after him, “Pei Yanzhou, what do you mean?”
“You’re leaving out half the story again.”
Jian Jinci couldn’t help but complain.
Under the sun, the girl chased after the man, the man slowed down to wait for the girl behind him, looking like a couple in love from their student days.
“Pei Yanzhou, what exactly did you mean by that?”
“Figure it out yourself.”
She was furious, “I don’t want to, forget it.”
Jian Jinci stared at his back with resentment. Just as they reached the parking lot, Jian Jinci heard a hoarse roar from behind. She turned around to see.
Yang Rui’s face was contorted, he was holding a fruit knife and stabbing it straight at her, his eyes were fierce, like a wild beast.
“I’ll kill you!” Yang Rui’s voice was hoarse, filled with hatred.
Jian Jinci’s pupils contracted, the fruit knife in his hand was getting closer and closer to her.
Just as the fruit knife was about to pierce her body, a hand hooked around her waist, turned her half a circle, and protected her in his arms. The familiar scent of wood filled her nostrils.
Pei Yanzhou stood in front of her, her whole heart was in her throat. When the fruit knife in Yang Rui’s hand got close to Pei Yanzhou, her pupils dilated, and she exclaimed, “Pei Yanzhou!”
Tears streamed down her cheeks along with her voice.
When the fruit knife in Yang Rui’s hand was two centimeters away from Pei Yanzhou’s body, Pei Yanzhou’s brow furrowed slightly, he kicked him hard in the abdomen, Yang Rui groaned and fell to the ground.
Jian Jinci nervously grabbed Pei Yanzhou’s arm with both hands, her throat tightened, her voice trembling, “Are you hurt anywhere?”
Pei Yanzhou reached out and covered her cheek, his thumb gently wiped away the tears on her cheek, “No.”
“If you were really stabbed, wouldn’t you have to marry me?”
“Be good, don’t cry.”
Jian Jinci cried even harder, she punched him in the chest, “What time is it, you’re still making jokes.”
Pei Yanzhou kicked hard, Yang Rui struggled to get up from the ground, holding the fruit knife, he stabbed at Pei Yanzhou again, as if he was going to fight to the death.
Pei Yanzhou’s cold eyes narrowed, his face instantly turned gloomy, he kicked him again, Yang Rui fell to the ground, looking pathetic.
When he looked at Jian Jinci, Pei Yanzhou’s expression softened slightly, “Get in the car, lock the door.”
Jian Jinci’s delicate brows furrowed, worried about Pei Yanzhou. Although Yang Rui was a fifteen-year-old boy, he was tall and strong, only a few inches shorter than Pei Yanzhou. Yang Rui had a weapon in his hand, Pei Yanzhou was barehanded, even if Pei Yanzhou had the upper hand, she would still be worried.
Pei Yanzhou grabbed her wrist, opened the car door, and pushed her inside.
Jian Jinci looked through the car window, saw Yang Rui attacking again, she patted the window, shouting, “Pei Yanzhou, behind you.”
