Chapter 44: There is Love, Not Much
The living room door was knocked. Jian Jinci tightened her grip on the pot in her hand. She looked through the peephole, it was dark outside, she could only see a blurry figure.
Usually, she would lock the gate in the yard, but if it was someone she knew, why would they sneak in without calling her to open the door?
It must be a bad guy outside.
She held her breath, tightened her grip on the pot, and suddenly opened the door. She closed her eyes and swung the pot wildly at the door.
Jian Xu dodged helplessly, grabbed her wrist. Jian Jinci screamed, “I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!”
“Open your eyes.” Jian Xu reached out and snatched the pot from her hand.
Hearing the familiar voice, Jian Jinci thought she had heard wrong. She opened one eye, the light from the living room shone on Jian Xu. She glared at him and kicked him in the leg.
“Why are you here?”
“It’s fine if you’re here, but you’re a monkey, why are you climbing over the wall?”
“I think you just want to scare me to death and inherit my inheritance.”
Jian Xu looked down at the iron pot in his hand, “You wouldn’t answer my calls or messages, I could only climb over the wall.”
“Also, Jian Jinci, I really don’t want to discourage you, you have a throne to inherit.”
“I think I can only inherit your Huabei and help you pay off your debts.”
Jian Jinci: “…”
You little rascal…
She said, “Who are you looking down on? Your sister, I’m a rich woman now.”
Jian Xu went into the entrance, looked at the men’s slippers on the floor, and asked, “Did you buy them for me?”
Jian Jinci followed his gaze. She nervously put the men’s slippers away and took out a new pair from the shoe cabinet, placing them at his feet, “This is yours.”
Jian Xu narrowed his eyes at her, “Jian Jinci, you’re hiding a man.”
Jian Jinci: “…”
She felt inexplicably guilty. Those slippers were bought by her, Pei Yanzhou wore them once, how could it be that she was hiding a man?
“Is the man you’re hiding Pei Yanzhou?”
“…” She glared at Jian Xu, “Hurry up and change your shoes and come in.”
Jian Xu changed his shoes and walked in, putting the pot in the kitchen. He noticed the insulated lunch box with water stains on the kitchen table.
Jian Jinci was curled up on the sofa, propping her head with one hand as she looked at him, “Skipping class?”
“I took a leave of absence.” Jian Xu rolled his eyes, “Jian Jinci, speak properly.”
She pouted, “You’re not speaking properly, okay?”
“You don’t even call me ‘Sister’.”
Jian Jinci kicked him with her foot, “What are you back for?”
“I missed my sister.” Jian Xu’s gloominess faded, his voice tinged with childishness.
Jian Jinci was stunned for a moment, then she felt that Jian Xu’s mood was off. She suddenly sat up from the sofa, frowning, “Were you bullied?”
“No.” Jian Xu, “Can you think a little better of me.”
Jian Xu never said such sentimental things. When he said it, her first reaction was that he must have been bullied outside and was unhappy.
He said no, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She lay back down, “Some people would actually say they miss their useless sister.”
“The sun rose from the west.”
“It’s night now.”
“Then the moon rose from the west.”
Jian Xu looked at Jian Jinci with unusual seriousness, “Sis, wait for me, I’ll become strong, strong enough that no one can bully you.”
Jian Jinci sat up, looked at Jian Xu and blinked, reaching out to touch his forehead. Jian Xu pulled her hand away, “You don’t have a fever, do you? Why are you saying such strange things?”
“Did you take the wrong medicine?”
“I’m crazy to tell you these things.” She was simply a hopeless straight girl, “Where do I sleep tonight?”
She had only tidied up one room in the villa, after all, it wasn’t her own home. The guest room she was staying in was the one Grandma Pei had tidied up for her when she was a child. She said, “You sleep in the guest room on the right side of the second floor, I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight.”
Jian Xu, “I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
Jian Jinci touched his head, “Our Xu has grown up.”
“Then you sleep there, I’ll go upstairs and find you a pillow and blanket.”
There is love, but not much.
Jian Jinci had just gone up a few steps of the stairs when she turned back, “When are you going back to school?”
“Tomorrow.”
Jian Jinci got him a pillow and blanket, Jian Xu made do on the sofa for the night.
Jinghuang Bar, luxurious VIP room.
“Brother Zhou, spare me, don’t make me go on a business trip to that godforsaken place. I was wrong.” The man smiled ingratiatingly. He missed a call and was going to be sent to a godforsaken country.
Pei Yanzhou leaned back on the sofa, his long legs crossed. The lights in the room flickered, on and off. His deep eyes were unfathomable, his perfect features exuded a cold aura.
Xie Qingyun was gloating, “Oh, why didn’t you think of that before?”
“You’re addicted to flowers and drunk on life, it’s very cool, going on a business trip to a godforsaken country will be even cooler.”
“Chu Ye, be content, my brother didn’t make you go mine coal, he’s already done enough for you.”
“Xie Qingyun, shut up, you’re always gloating.” Chu Ye, “Why do you become a cowardly dog when you see Chi Yang and Pei Yanzhou?”
“You only dare to laugh at me and Jiang Zhi.”
“A bully!”
Chu Ye, that charming face had a痞氣, his features were distinct and deep, he had a pair of amorous eyes, his eyelashes were black and long, he looked unrestrained when he smiled.
Why was he being sent to a godforsaken country? It’s a long story, it starts a month ago.
At that time, Pei Yanzhou asked him to go to Beijing No. 3 Middle School to do something, which was to use his power to secretly protect a little kid. At that time, he left his phone number with the principal, and if anything happened, they would call him.
A few days ago, something happened to the little kid. He was having a good time at a brothel and didn’t answer the phone. Pei Yanzhou found him the next day, and he found out.
He received a lot of calls every day, and he missed a lot of them. He wouldn’t look at them one by one. That day, the little kid was bullied, and Pei Yanzhou asked him about it.
Xie Qingyun scoffed, “You dare say you and Jiang Zhi aren’t cowardly dogs when you see my brother and Chi Yang?”
“If you weren’t cowardly, what would you be doing now, Chu Ye?”
Pei Yanzhou and Chi Yang were both terrifying. Anyone who saw them would be scared, especially her. She was okay with Pei Yanzhou, but Chi Yang…
She would avoid him if she could. To put it bluntly, Chi Yang was a walking refrigerator, ready to freeze people to death at any time.
Chu Ye was in despair, “My dear lady, please, stop.”
He looked at Pei Yanzhou, he was about to kneel down, “Boss Pei, spare me this time, I promise you this is the last time.”
Pei Yanzhou’s thin lips parted, his voice devoid of any warmth, “Leave tomorrow, for half a month.”
Chu Ye: “…”
“Pfft.” Xie Qingyun couldn’t hold it in, he laughed until he fell back, “Chu Ye, I hope I still recognize you after half a month.”
Pei Yanzhou coldly swept his gaze over Xie Qingyun, “Laugh again and you’ll go with him.”
Xie Qingyun immediately stopped laughing, “I won’t laugh, I’ll stay in the country to help you chase your sister-in-law.”
Pei Yanzhou stared at her for a few seconds, she immediately shut up and made a zipper motion with her mouth.
Chu Ye sat next to Xie Qingyun and asked, “What’s going on?”
