Chapter 45: Conflict
Actually, under some mild and strong encouragement, she had just bought the helmet, and hadn’t even started playing yet. This was the first time she had spent so much money on something, especially a game device, and she felt a bit guilty about spending her brother’s hard-earned money. That was why she called him.
After hearing Wu Ziyin’s words, Wu Shaochen smiled and shook his head. “You can’t make money like that in a game. Don’t be fooled. Even though I’ve earned a few million in the past two or three days, that’s because I’ve been ahead of everyone. It’s hard for regular players to even keep up with my pace.”
However, Wu Shaochen didn’t want to discourage Wu Ziyin’s enthusiasm. It was rare for her to take an interest in a game, and he was happy about it. As for the effect on her studies, Wu Shaochen wasn’t worried at all. Wu Ziyin had excellent self-control, and her studies were always excellent. Even if it did affect her learning, he didn’t mind; he would take care of her. She was his sister, and he would spoil her.
“Yeah, this game is pretty good. You can give it a try,” Wu Shaochen said.
“Brother, you’re not mad that I spent money on it?” Wu Ziyin asked curiously.
“Why would I be mad? I play the game too. You should try playing some games. Reading all the time will turn you into a bookworm,” Wu Shaochen teased.
“You’re the bookworm,” Wu Ziyin blushed and said, “By the way, brother, when I enter the game, will I be able to see you in the game, no matter how far apart we are?”
“Yes, this game is just like real life. Once you reach the main city, we can meet in the game just like we do in reality,” Wu Shaochen replied.
“That’s awesome! I haven’t seen you for so long,” Wu Ziyin instantly became interested in the game.
The two of them chatted for a while before hanging up. Afterward, Wu Ziyin stared at the game helmet in her hands, looking puzzled.
At that moment, Wei Wei also walked into the room and smiled at Wu Ziyin. “Interested now? You were reluctant to buy it just now.”
Wu Ziyin’s face flushed red, and she said, “Wei Wei, teach me how to play this game! I want to find my brother.”
“What’s your brother’s game ID? He should be a pro. I’ll add him to my friend list, and you should let him take me along too,” Wei Wei said.
“Uh, I forgot to ask,” Wu Ziyin said sheepishly.
“…”
With Wei Wei’s help, Wu Ziyin finally figured out how to enter the game, and she put on the helmet for the first time.
After hanging up the phone, Wu Shaochen quickly entered the game again and appeared in Jinling City. The city was bustling with activity. Wu Shaochen casually strolled around and then headed toward the south gate. This time, he was planning to check out the so-called Tiger King in the Tiger Roar Forest.
When he arrived at the south gate, Wu Shaochen walked directly toward the Tiger Roar Forest. There were people everywhere, but he didn’t rush, taking his time.
However, soon Wu Shaochen noticed something unusual. It seemed like everyone around him was deliberately walking towards him.
He decided to stand still and see what was going on.
Before long, a large group of people surrounded him, but they didn’t approach; they just stood at a distance.
Wu Shaochen spotted a familiar face in the crowd — the same person he had killed last time, the one known as “Hao Ge”. Wu Shaochen knew that when players were killed, the game would notify who the killer was, but this person had changed his gear, including a new mask. Wu Shaochen didn’t understand how they had recognized him.
He wasn’t in a hurry to leave and wanted to see where the flaw was. So, he stood there waiting for a while. Soon enough, the main person arrived: a young man in his late teens with an arrogant look, followed by more than ten people.
The young man walked up to Wu Shaochen and extended his hand with a smile. “You must be Chén Fēng, right? I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m Ào Shì Tiānxià, nice to meet you.”
Wu Shaochen didn’t shake his hand and instead, with a puzzled expression, asked, “President of Ào Shì Qún Xióng? We don’t seem to have had much interaction, and how did you figure out I’m Chén Fēng?”
Ào Shì Tiānxià retracted his hand, his expression darkening slightly, but he kept smiling. “There are tens of thousands of people in Jinling City, but it’s not hard to find one person. Besides, I’m confident in my ability to recognize you.”
“Oh, what’s the matter?” Wu Shaochen didn’t deny it. Since the other person had confirmed his identity so openly, there was no need to deny it. It was inevitable that his identity would be exposed sooner or later.
“It’s nothing much. I just wanted to invite you to join our Ào Shì Qún Xióng and develop together,” Ào Shì Tiānxià said with a faint smile.
“No interest,” Wu Shaochen said without hesitation. He had no interest in this so-called Ào Shì Qún Xióng. From the “Hao Ge” from before to the current situation where they surrounded him like this, he didn’t like their way of handling things. No matter how powerful they were, in this game, he was still the god.
“I suggest you think about it. Jinling City is the territory of Ào Shì Qún Xióng,” a man named Ào Shì Gū Fēng said from behind.
Ào Shì Tiānxià raised his hand to stop Ào Shì Gū Fēng and smiled at Wu Shaochen. “Brother, if you join Ào Shì Qún Xióng, I can give you a vice president position. I believe you’re a smart person, and you won’t miss such a great opportunity, right?”
“No interest, move aside,” Wu Shaochen said coldly.
“I only recognize two types of people — my people and my enemies. Are you sure you want to make Ào Shì Qún Xióng your enemy? Have you thought about the consequences?” Ào Shì Tiānxià said, his eyes narrowing with a sinister tone.
“Heh, not joining you means being your enemy? If that’s the case, I really want to see what it’s like to be your enemy,” Wu Shaochen said indifferently. It wasn’t that he looked down on them, but with these people, they wouldn’t waste much of his time.
At this moment, the number of onlookers had reached several thousand. They had heard that Chén Fēng was here and had come to witness the legendary god’s performance. Although they weren’t sure if the person before them was really Chén Fēng, they saw him stand up to Ào Shì Qún Xióng’s people, which stirred them up. They couldn’t contain their excitement and immediately started recording the game.
“Miss, Ào Shì Qún Xióng’s hundreds of people have surrounded Chén Fēng at the south gate. Things are tense,” Liu Shu reported to Sū Mùxuě.
“Is it really Chén Fēng?” Sū Mùxuě paused her actions, her tone a little less indifferent.
“I’m not sure, but it’s very likely. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare stand up to Ào Shì Qún Xióng,” Liu Shu speculated.
“Take me to see!” Sū Mùxuě put down the monster she was fighting.
“Uh, sure,” Liu Shu was caught off guard by her reaction. It seemed a bit excessive.
Upon hearing Wu Shaochen’s words, Ào Shì Tiānxià’s expression darkened. “Since that’s the case, I’ll pull you down from your godly pedestal.”
With a wave of his hand, hundreds of people from Ào Shì Qún Xióng rushed toward Wu Shaochen. Some ranged attackers fired their arrows and magic as soon as they reached a certain distance. However, Ào Shì Tiānxià and Ào Shì Gū Fēng stayed out of the fight. Although they didn’t take Chén Fēng seriously, they were still hesitant to face him directly. Instead, they resorted to a tactic of overwhelming him with numbers.
Wu Shaochen looked at the people backing off and didn’t stop them. If he wanted to, they wouldn’t be able to escape. But he wanted them to experience despair by watching their subordinates fall one by one.
Soon, arrows and spells hit Wu Shaochen, but they didn’t cause any significant damage. The only thing that appeared were a series of damage numbers:
-1
-1
-1
“What the hell… How is this even possible? Is this still an assassin?” Ào Shì Juéqíng exclaimed in shock.
The core members of Ào Shì Qún Xióng, including Ào Shì Tiānxià, looked on in disbelief. Wasn’t it said that even Zīháo and the others dealt him dozens of damage? How come now none of their attacks were getting through?
Even the onlookers were stunned. Could it be that Chén Fēng was stacking full constitution points?
