Chapter 58: How Could I Compare to That Pervert
Along the way, skeletons kept popping up, but Wu Shaocheng couldn’t be bothered with them. He’d throw two daggers at those who got in his way and ignore the rest, continuing deeper into the mine. After about ten minutes, he finally emerged into what seemed to be the actual mining area—a large, open field scattered with broken rocks. The mine was filled with countless skeletons, densely packed, which made Wu Shaocheng, who had not planned to fight these skeletons, instantly excited. Although he had advanced to the Silver rank and could continue grinding his talents, he knew that the talent grind could be done anytime. But this was the first time he’d seen such a dense concentration of monsters, and he felt that he had to take advantage of it for a group grind.
The level 20 skeletons only had about 40 attack power, which couldn’t break his defense even with skills, and they didn’t have any crowd control abilities. This was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the feeling of a group grind.
Without thinking further, Wu Shaocheng put away his Silver Wolf into the pet space. He was eager to level up and didn’t want the wolf to take any of the experience. To be honest, the Silver Wolf was a powerful ally for other players, especially with its A-level talent, but for Wu Shaocheng, it was just an experience-stealing wolf. For example, right now, at level 16, the Silver Wolf could easily wipe out level 20 skeletons, even handling three at once. But Wu Shaocheng wanted to perform a group grind on a large scale, and having the wolf around would only risk it dying from the overwhelming number of skeletons. It wasn’t that the wolf was weak, but that Wu Shaocheng was too strong.
After putting away the Silver Wolf, Wu Shaocheng charged into the skeleton swarm, taking down two skeletons at a time before moving on to the next one, completely ignoring their attacks. The feeling was exhilarating.
However, as he continued, he realized an awkward problem: assassins weren’t well-suited for fighting such dense groups of monsters. He found himself surrounded and unable to move. Even though the skeletons couldn’t break his defense, he was stuck in place.
“Damn it, I got too excited and charged in too deep,” Wu Shaocheng cursed to himself. Now, he was stuck in an awkward situation, having to slowly clear the monsters around him. He was surrounded by the skeletons’ heads swaying before him, and it was starting to get nauseating. But he couldn’t fly or use any movement skills, so even activating his Void skill wouldn’t help.
“Sigh, I need to learn some movement skills for next time. This situation is way too awkward. I’m going to have nightmares about this tonight,” Wu Shaocheng muttered, then furiously swung his daggers to vent his frustration.
Meanwhile, other players were also grinding and farming gear. The overall strength of players in the game had significantly improved. Most players now wore at least one or two pieces of black iron equipment, and some stronger ones even had several pieces of bronze gear. It was no longer too difficult to fight bronze BOSSes, especially with more players in a group, which made it easier to find BOSSes.
In a cave, Ao Shi Tian Xia picked up all the BOSS equipment, replacing his old gear with a usable piece of bronze equipment. The remaining items were distributed to the other core members of his guild. After losing the silver BOSS, Ao Shi Tian Xia, in frustration, had decided to take action. He instructed his guild to search everywhere for BOSSes. This was their third bronze BOSS kill, and now Ao Shi Tian Xia had one silver and five bronze pieces of equipment. The rest were black iron. The overall improvement in their strength was huge, and Ao Shi Tian Xia had also spent a large sum of money to buy black iron equipment to further bolster the guild’s strength. He was determined to get back at the player named Chen Feng and his guild.
On a plain, Su Muxue led the Su Group members as they fought a 16-level bronze BOSS. With the large amount of equipment she had bought from Wu Shaocheng earlier, Su Muxue had gained a significant lead over the other players. Her level had reached 17, and every Fireball spell she cast dealt seven to eight hundred damage, far more than the two to three hundred damage from other players.
Just as the BOSS’s health was almost gone, a group of players arrived and saw this scene. Naturally, they couldn’t resist the temptation of the low-health BOSS.
However, they quickly realized how terrifying Su Muxue, the first mage of the game, was. She cast Fireball every 1.5 seconds, dealing over a thousand damage each time. And with her Ice Freeze spell every five seconds, she could freeze anyone instantly. Her talent, which reduced skill cooldowns by 50%, was key to her incredible power as a mage.
With the shield-bearing members of the Su Group protecting her, Su Muxue became a mobile cannon, easily eliminating the players who tried to steal the BOSS. In the end, only a few players who tried to escape remained.
“Miss is so amazing…” a member of the Su Group said.
“Of course, our Miss is the first mage in the game. How dare these people try to steal the BOSS from us?” another person added.
“Right, they don’t know their place. I think our Miss is already stronger than that Chen Feng,” another member chimed in.
“Alright, keep fighting the BOSS!” Su Muxue said coldly, her mind thinking, “How could I compare to that pervert?”
Other guilds were also leveling up while searching for BOSSes. However, BOSSes above the bronze level were rare, and it was hard to find them in the areas where level 10 to 15 monsters roamed.
Wu Shaocheng spent nearly an hour clearing all the skeletons in the mine. Along the way, he killed a total of 514 skeletons. His level increased to 19, with 138,750/200,000 experience. The Immortal Body skill granted him 514 additional health points, and with his level-up bonus of 40 points, his total health reached 8106 points after applying the title bonus, breaking the 8,000 health barrier. He left 10 attribute points for later.
Rubbing his sore right hand, Wu Shaocheng muttered to himself, “I’m never doing this again. Group grinding is much more suited to mages. Damn, I still see skeleton heads in my mind. It’s terrifying. I don’t even know how I managed to hold on.”
After picking up three pieces of black iron equipment from the ground, Wu Shaocheng put them up for auction. Initially, he planned to sell them for 20,000 each but then noticed that the auction house was flooded with black iron gear, most of which were priced between 3,000 to 10,000.
“Ugh, I slept for eight hours, and black iron equipment is already worth so little?” Wu Shaocheng thought to himself. But he understood—after so long, even casual players had accumulated at least one or two pieces of black iron gear.
He listed the items for 10,000 each and continued deeper into the mine. He entered another passage, and this time no skeletons appeared. The passage was shorter than the previous one, and in just a few minutes, he emerged into a larger mining area. There were just as many skeletons as before, but the area seemed less dense. These skeletons, unlike the previous ones, were wielding skeleton axes.
