“The 80s Flirtation: Transmigrated as the Scum Wife of the Factory Boss” Chapter 35

Chapter 35

“Why does Director Lu keep coming back?” she thought, sensing something amiss. Her heart pounding, she quickly shut her mouth and stopped talking, shrinking back into her covers and sleeping as quietly as a quail.

She slept soundly that night, all the way through until dawn.

She woke up a little late, and Lu Dingquan was already dressed and ready to leave.

Jiang Ning woke up a bit dazed and sat on the bed, dazedly asking him before he left, “By the way, where did you buy those buns? The ones with the crispy bottoms, the kind with the slightly crispy bun skin, they were so fragrant.”

Lu Dingquan raised his hand to fasten the top button of his collar. As he did, his Adam’s apple occasionally moved, and Jiang Ning’s eyes couldn’t help but follow it, moving with it.

He then looked at her with an indescribable expression, “Seems like you slept well last night, you have an appetite for buns this morning?”

Jiang Ning innocently replied, “Did you not sleep well?”

His long, slender hand, which had just finished buttoning his collar, suddenly reached out. Jiang Ning’s eyelashes fluttered, but he was just reaching for the keys hanging on the wall.

Lu Dingquan chuckled softly through his nose, “Someone sleeps like a bulldozer, rolling and crushing over me in the middle of the night. If I could sleep well, that would be a testament to my abilities.”

He deliberately glanced at her with a mocking look.

Jiang Ning didn’t believe him. Her sleeping posture was perfectly fine!

He was clearly eavesdropping and got jealous, and to cover up his guilty conscience, he was shifting the blame onto her.

The man opened the door and went out. She quickly stepped forward, “You haven’t told me yet, where did you buy the buns?”

He looked down at her, his voice low, “They’re all sold out by this time. Early bird gets the worm, you know?”

Jiang Ning felt like this man was deliberately trying to annoy her early in the morning. She immediately furrowed her brows and retorted, “I don’t know, I only know that the late worm gets eaten by the bird!”

Her voice, just after waking up, was soft and sweet, not sounding like she was arguing, but rather like she was being coquettish.

“Fine, don’t tell me. I’m sure I can find them, I’ll make you mad.”

Jiang Ning closed the door, not seeing him off.

Lu Dingquan knew he had teased her a bit too much. He was about to say that he had bought the buns and pan-fried them himself, but the door slammed shut in front of him.

He pulled the corners of his lips into a very slight smile, thinking of something, his eyes flickered with an unfathomable light, and then he left.

The man had not gone far when He Fangying opened the door across the hall, holding a handful of noodles and throwing them into a pot.

She glanced at the door opposite her, smiling to herself and muttering, “Young couples are so good, even when they fight, they fight in a sticky-sweet way.”

She then thought, “Why does Director Lu keep coming back? I hardly ever saw him before, he wouldn’t come back for a month or two.”

Cheng Shuangtao, holding a cup of mouthwash, poked her head out, “Mom, what’s wrong with Uncle Lu? Did he fight with my little Sister Jiang?”

He Fangying: “……Little Sister Jiang, it’s Auntie, you child, I told you to change your address, but you won’t listen.”

Shuangtao disagreed, pouting. Sister Jiang was only a few years older than her, so young and beautiful, so delicate and graceful, it felt more intimate to call her sister, why did she have to be Auntie?

Jiang Ning was unaware of the neighbors’ chatter. She went back and slept for a while, until she woke up hungry.

She quickly tidied up and ate something, then went to the bus station in the morning to find out what time the last bus to the city was.

Ticket seller: “The last one is at 6:30 pm.”

Jiang Ning had already thought of that. Regular buses wouldn’t have any later ones. She then asked if there were any ride-sharing opportunities.

She asked a few ticket sellers, and they all said no, but one person said that she could call ahead and rent a city taxi, any time of night, but it wouldn’t be cheap.

Jiang Ning got the phone number and called from a roadside stall. After asking, she immediately changed her mind.

She didn’t have enough money for a round trip!

It was too expensive. No wonder in this era, taxi drivers were considered high-class jobs, with a good income.

She walked around outside, but couldn’t find a suitable solution. When Jiang Ning went back in the evening, she received a call.

It was from the public phone in the building’s lobby. The old man in the lobby saw her and immediately greeted her, “Little Jiang, your family called a couple of times, looking for you.”

Jiang Ning was surprised, family?

Could it be her second sister? But Jiang Mei wouldn’t be in such a hurry to find her. She dialed the number and it was actually the hospital.

The person on the other end seemed to be waiting by the hospital phone, and they answered as soon as the ringing tone sounded.

“Hello? Jiang Ning, why are you just answering the phone now? Your dad is sick! He’s been admitted to the city hospital. You come over tonight and take care of your dad!”
