Chapter 80: Can You Dodge Attacks?
After walking for a while, the monsters’ levels had reached 25-26. There were hardly any players around, but at this moment, Wu Shaochen noticed a figure soloing a level 26 Lion-Tiger Beast. With incredible speed, agile movements, and a bow in hand, every arrow shot seemed to deal around 3000 damage to the beast. What shocked Wu Shaochen the most was that almost every shot was a critical hit.
“Is it a 100% critical hit talent?” Wu Shaochen thought to himself. With such a talent and the bowman class, this person was an absolute damage machine. Wu Shaochen couldn’t help but feel envious. “Damn it, if only my ranged attacks could trigger like that. If I switched to a bowman class, I could farm monsters without taking damage and wouldn’t need to waste points on body and endurance.”
He observed the figure for a while, and based on the silhouette, it appeared to be a woman. He couldn’t tell how she looked because they were a bit far apart, but her figure seemed nice. Wu Shaochen opened the leaderboard and glanced at the third-ranked level 22 bowman, Yu Fei. He thought to himself, Is it her?
At the moment, there weren’t many players capable of soloing level 26 monsters, and among the top ten in the leaderboard, there were only two bowmen. The other one, Jun Lin, was obviously male, but it was also possible that this player wasn’t in the top ten.
The other party also noticed Wu Shaochen and his companion. Her movements became cautious, and she began pulling the Lion-Tiger Beast back, distancing it from Wu Shaochen and his companion. This kind of wild encounter, where players kill others for loot, was common in the game.
Wu Shaochen scratched his nose and muttered, “We don’t look like bad guys.” To avoid unnecessary trouble, he motioned for Wu Ziyin to follow him as they moved in another direction deeper into the forest.
Meanwhile, Yu Fei, watching Wu Shaochen and Wu Ziyin walk away, was slightly surprised. The monsters further ahead were level 27-30, but this didn’t concern her. She continued killing the Lion-Tiger Beast.
Wu Shaochen and Wu Ziyin soon reached the depths of the forest, where they found a large grassy plain. Ahead of them was a group of beasts large enough to rival bulls.
[Blood Prison Savage Lion]
Level: 30
HP: 100,000
Physical Attack: 1200
Physical Defense: 800
Magical Defense: 700
Movement Speed: 240
Skill 1: Blood Conversion (Passive): Damage dealt is converted into blood stored in the body, gradually restoring HP.
Skill 2: Rage: Increases its own HP by 20%, defense by 20%, and attack power by 20% for 30 seconds. Cooldown: 2 minutes.
Although the level 30 ordinary monsters were impressively strong, with Wu Shaochen’s defense of 1133 and 35% damage reduction, he had no trouble handling them. The most important thing was that the Lion’s passive skill was completely countered by him, rendering it almost useless.
Without hesitation, Wu Shaochen instructed Wu Ziyin to stay behind and monitor their health while he rushed forward with Silver Wolf. With lifesteal and Wu Ziyin, a powerful healer, Wu Shaochen was able to farm monsters without any concerns.
Without entering Rage mode, the Blood Prison Savage Lions barely did any damage to Wu Shaochen, only dealing a few dozen points. Even when they used Rage, the damage didn’t exceed 200, which was negligible compared to Wu Shaochen’s nearly 20,000 HP.
While farming, Wu Shaochen suddenly thought about the bowman he had seen earlier. Is only ranged combat capable of farming monsters without taking damage?
As the Blood Prison Savage Lion’s claws swung toward him, Wu Shaochen instinctively dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. His eyes lit up. So it’s possible to dodge now?
He tried dodging again, sometimes successfully avoiding the attacks and sometimes not. As an experienced player, he quickly realized the issue. The reason he could dodge some attacks was because of his increased speed. With his current speed, as long as his reaction time was quick enough, he could dodge by a small distance in just 0.1 seconds—not backward, but sideways. Moving backward didn’t work, but moving sideways was effective. Still, it wasn’t always perfect, because sometimes the monster could predict his movement. For instance, a few times when Wu Shaochen tried to dodge left, the lion’s attack still landed on him, coming from the middle.
As he continued to practice dodging, Wu Shaochen eventually pulled too many monsters at once, leaving no space to dodge. He was hit by more than ten Blood Prison Savage Lions, losing a few hundred HP.
“Ugh, I still think defense is better.” He said to himself, realizing that in close-range combat, there was no room to dodge. This was when the value of his defense really shone. He had only lost a few hundred HP after taking hits from more than ten monsters.
Just then, a green light flashed overhead…
+6732
Looking up, Wu Shaochen saw Wu Ziyin holding a staff and casting healing spells from a distance. His lips twitched. “This wasteful girl!”
After finishing off a few more Blood Prison Savage Lions, Wu Shaochen returned to Wu Ziyin’s side and patiently explained to her how to manage her mana and maximize efficiency.
As Wu Shaochen and Wu Ziyin continued their monster farming spree, the forum was buzzing with discussions about the Linlang dungeon. It was known that over a hundred teams had already challenged the dungeon, but the stone tablet outside the dungeon still only displayed one team’s name. No, it should be said that it only displayed one person’s name.
The difficulty of the dungeon had caused many players who had attempted it to complain. However, no matter the complaints, any player who reached level 20 would immediately team up with a few others to attempt the dungeon. The loot rate inside the dungeon was far better than outside. While it might take killing over a hundred monsters outside to get a Black Iron item, in the dungeon, it was possible to get a Bronze item after clearing the first wave of monsters. Many teams had already obtained Bronze gear, and some of the strongest teams had even acquired Silver items.
At Giant Deer City…
The top ten experts of the Divine King Sect had gathered here because the Divine King himself had already visited the dungeon the previous day. Therefore, today, they didn’t rush in but instead fought two Silver BOSSes, getting several pieces of Silver gear before returning to prepare for their next attempt.
The ten members of the group were all wearing Silver gear, and even the two aides to the Divine King had a decent number of Silver items, with the rest having one or two pieces. Their equipment was top-tier.
“Divine King, do we really need to go all out like this? The dungeon is so hard that even the sealed ones can solo it. For us, a group of ten should have no problem clearing it, right?” One of the experts from the Divine King Sect asked.
The Divine King didn’t respond immediately. He glanced at the name on the stone tablet and then led the group directly into the dungeon.
“Those people just now were from the Divine King Sect, right?” One of the onlookers remarked after watching the group enter the dungeon.
“Yeah, the ten top experts from the Divine King Sect, and even the Divine King himself. It looks like they want to clear the dungeon in one go,” another player said.
“That’s awesome! If they clear it, maybe someone from Giant Deer City will get their name on the tablet.”
Half an hour later, the ten experts from the Divine King Sect, all looking disheveled, were teleported out of the dungeon. The surrounding players were stunned. When the last Divine King member was teleported out, everyone looked at the stone tablet.
Sure enough, only one team’s name was still on the stone tablet.
“Did… did they fail?” The players watching asked in disbelief. These were all top-tier players from the Divine King Sect. To have failed with a team of ten was beyond everyone’s comprehension. How difficult was the dungeon?
The ten members of the Divine King Sect were just as shocked. “There was still such a powerful boss left, probably a Golden-tier!”
“Let’s go. We need to level up and come back prepared. We’ll clear it tomorrow for sure,” the Divine King said confidently.
With the first wave of players reaching level 20, the various dungeons in the major cities were crowded with players. However, no team had been able to clear them. The stone tablet still only displayed the name of one team, which continued to dominate.
