Chapter 35: Be Good, Baby
The next day, Yang Auntie, for once, didn’t wake her up for breakfast. When she woke up, it was already eleven o’clock. The man sitting by the bed had a hint of amusement in his eyes as he quietly watched her.
Cen Wan rubbed her eyes sleepily, her whole body aching. She asked weakly, “What time is it?”
“Eleven o’clock.”
“Ah?” Cen Wan sat up abruptly. It was Friday: “Aren’t you going to work?”
“I took a day off for you.” Lu Beixun’s lips curved into a handsome arc.
Cen Wan looked at him: “But it’s okay for you not to go to work?”
“It’s fine.” Lu Beixun: “I get paid, not to have them come to the company to fill up the headcount.”
Cen Wan thought about it and lay back down. She turned her head to look at him: “From now on, I’m yours. You have to take responsibility for me.”
Lu Beixun reached out and rubbed her hair, his tone indulgent: “I’m yours too.”
Cen Wan moved closer to him, rubbing her cheek against his hand, very obedient, making him want to bully her.
She turned over and lay on the bed, saying in a sweet voice: “My waist hurts. You did this, you have to help me rub it.”
Lu Beixun chuckled softly: “Where’s Wan Wan’s composure?”
As he spoke, his hand rested on her waist, kneading it gently. Cen Wan closed her eyes comfortably.
“So, does hubby like me with composure or without composure?”
“As long as it’s Wan Wan, I like it no matter what.”
Cen Wan lay on the pillow, her voice muffled: “I love hearing that. Can you say it more often?”
“Hmm.”
Lu Beixun patiently massaged her waist, and the soreness in her body eased a lot. She unknowingly closed her eyes and almost fell asleep.
Lu Beixun called her softly: “Wan Wan, it’s time for lunch. Have lunch and then sleep, okay?”
She mumbled a response, but her eyes didn’t open. Lu Beixun stopped his movements: “Wan Wan?”
There was no response from the person beside him. Lu Beixun leaned down and kissed her earlobe, biting it lightly: “Be good, baby, okay?”
Cen Wan opened her eyes, her lips curving upwards: “You just called me baby. Say it again.”
Lu Beixun’s expression was a little unnatural: “Baby.”
Cen Wan pressed her advantage: “Who’s the baby?”
“Wan Wan.”
“Then who’s Wan Wan’s baby?”
“Mine.”
“Then who are you?”
“Wan Wan baby’s.”
Cen Wan was no longer sleepy. Her heart felt sweeter than honey: “Will hubby abandon Wan Wan baby?”
“As long as Wan Wan still wants me.” Lu Beixun’s tone was firm: “I won’t.”
Cen Wan covered the back of his hand: “This lifetime, Wan Wan only wants Lu Beixun, through thick and thin.”
This lifetime, she wouldn’t leave him, she wouldn’t let him be hurt again. Thinking of his lifeless eyes in the previous life, her heart ached.
At that time, she was blinded by hatred, she had no judgment, she believed everything Cen Xiu said, she treated him as a villain. How heartbroken and sad he must have been at that time.
Cen Wan sat up from the bed, straddled his lap, and reached out to unbutton his shirt. Lu Beixun grabbed her wrist: “Wan Wan?”
“I won’t move.”
Lu Beixun only released her wrist. Last night, they were like dry wood meeting a raging fire, and Cen Wan hadn’t paid attention.
Her hand trembled slightly as she unbuttoned his shirt, one by one. After unbuttoning it, she lifted the shirt to the side, revealing his strong chest.
Her fingertips lightly touched his left chest. His skin was intact. This was the place where she had stabbed him with a dagger.
Cen Wan’s lips landed on that spot, kissing it gently. A tear rolled down her cheek. Lu Beixun’s body stiffened. The tear fell on his abdomen, a warm liquid, he felt it.
His voice was hoarse: “Wan Wan?”
Cen Wan looked up: “I’m fine.”
She buttoned his shirt back up.
Lu Corporation.
Chang Ning didn’t see Cen Wan all day. She didn’t hear her say she was taking a day off, and she didn’t reply to her messages. Chang Ning was a little worried.
When she was about to go to lunch, she ran into He Yi. She ran up to him: “Assistant He, Wan Wan didn’t come today. Did something happen?”
He Yi stopped and looked at her, but didn’t speak.
Chang Ning blinked, thinking he didn’t know: “If Assistant He doesn’t know, I won’t bother you.”
She was about to leave when He Yi spoke: “She has something to do today. She took a day off.”
Chang Ning thanked him and left.
It was really a coincidence. Mr. Lu didn’t come either.
Cen Wan was too sore to move after lunch. She curled up on the sofa. She opened her phone and saw that Chang Ning had sent her several messages.
She replied to Chang Ning saying that she had something to do today and took a day off. She also sent a sorry emoji. It was clear that Chang Ning was very worried about her.
She turned off her phone and placed it on the coffee table. She couldn’t help but marvel at Lu Beixun’s stamina. She really couldn’t handle it.
If she had still been her old self, she would have fainted.
Fortunately, she had been exercising under Lu Beixun’s supervision every day recently, and her physical fitness had improved significantly. She no longer got out of breath climbing stairs, and she could handle long-term exercise like last night.
With a day off, Cen Wan and Lu Beixun were inseparable.
She was watching a drama and unknowingly fell asleep in Lu Beixun’s arms. Lu Beixun carried her back to the bedroom and gently placed her on the bed.
He was about to get up and leave when the little woman on the bed grabbed his hand: “Don’t go, stay with me.”
Lu Beixun chuckled softly and lifted the covers to lie down beside her: “Hmm, sleep.”
Cen Wan’s lips curved into a smile. She hugged his waist and fell into a deep sleep.
When Cen Wan woke up again, it was already dusk. The room was dim, and the person beside her was gone. Her heart felt empty, a feeling of discomfort that she couldn’t describe.
She put on her slippers and went downstairs. She didn’t see Lu Beixun in the living room. It was very quiet. Only the light in the kitchen was on. She thought it was Yang Auntie preparing dinner. She walked towards the kitchen, wanting to ask Yang Auntie where Lu Beixun had gone.
When she reached the kitchen door, Cen Wan was slightly surprised: “Lu Beixun…”
It wasn’t Yang Auntie in the kitchen, but Lu Beixun.
Lu Beixun: “Awake?”
“Hmm.” Cen Wan entered the kitchen and looked at the dishes on the table: “Did you make all of this?”
“Hmm, I can’t just eat all the dishes Wan Wan made for free.” Lu Beixun handed her a pair of chopsticks: “Try it, do you like it?”
Cen Wan took the chopsticks: “You know…”
“Hmm.” He not only knew, he also knew her little emotions.
“I thought you didn’t know.” Cen Wan picked up a shrimp and put it in her mouth. It was so delicious that she was satisfied. His cooking skills were far superior to hers. She gave him a thumbs up: “Chef Lu, I’m giving you a thumbs up.”
Lu Beixun chuckled indulgently.
In the evening, Cen Wan ate a lot. She was full, but she could still eat a couple more bites. In the end, she was stuffed.
Cen Wan sat on the sofa, clutching her stomach. Lu Beixun was both helpless and heartbroken. He first gave her a digestive tablet, then went to make her a cup of hawthorn juice.
Half an hour later, Cen Wan finished the hawthorn juice. Lu Beixun didn’t let her go straight back to her room. He took her out for a walk.
The evening breeze was cool and refreshing.
Cen Wan held his arm, simple and beautiful.
