Chapter 21
Su Yaqin prepared a lot of food, fruits, milk candies, it was quite luxurious.
When dinner was ready, Su Yaqin’s husband, Li Chengde, came back.
He only learned about what happened today when Su Yaqin called him after she came back.
So as soon as he entered the house and saw Song Shishi, he smiled and went forward, “Girl, I won’t say thank you for your great kindness, if you ever need any help, just tell your brother, I won’t refuse.”
Li Chengde looked older than Su Yaqin, and they had experienced many hardships together.
They had been married for many years without children, and later, through the introduction of a friend, they went to a temple to pray for a child, and unexpectedly, they conceived at the end of the year.
They only had Li Haoyang, their only child, and they naturally cherished him dearly.
So they were naturally very grateful to Song Shishi.
“By the way, what were you going to do before you ran into those kidnappers? This delay probably messed up your plans, right?”
Reminded by Li Chengde, Song Shishi remembered that she still had to go to the library to translate documents for a few days tomorrow. Originally, she planned to explain the situation to the captain when she went back today and ask for a leave of absence.
But now, it was obvious that she couldn’t go back.
Seeing Song Shishi frown, Su Yaqin asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”
Song Shishi briefly explained the situation, Li Chengde smiled and waved his hand, “It’s not a big deal, our clothing factory has the phone numbers of all the brigades, you can call back and explain the situation later.”
“Really? Thank you so much, brother-in-law.” Song Shishi breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed.
“It’s a small matter.” Li Chengde smiled, “You just said you were doing translation work? You can do that?”
Before Song Shishi could answer, Su Yaqin said with some pride, “Of course, my dear Shishi is a young intellectual from Beijing, she knows some foreign languages, what’s so strange about that?”
“Yes, yes, your girl is very capable.”
“Of course.”
Looking at Su Yaqin and her husband bickering, Song Shishi suddenly felt a little envious.
Feeling her hand being pulled, Song Shishi looked down at Li Haoyang sitting next to her.
He stared at her with bright eyes, “Does Xiao Bao have to call you little aunt from now on?”
Song Shishi nodded.
“Beautiful little aunt, will you come to Xiao Bao’s house again?” Li Haoyang’s clear eyes were full of anticipation.
Song Shishi nodded solemnly, looking directly into his eyes, “I will.”
After calling Zhou Jian Guo, Song Shishi stayed at Su Yaqin’s house that night.
Their house was big, and they had a specially prepared guest room.
The next morning, Su Yaqin’s driver, Uncle Fugui, sent her back to the Qinghe Town library.
She thought Uncle Fugui would leave after sending her there, but unexpectedly, the driver also got out of the car.
Song Shishi didn’t understand, and stood at the library door looking at him.
But Uncle Fugui parked the car there and left.
Song Shishi thought about it, didn’t bother anymore, turned around and pushed open the door to enter the library.
Director Zhao was already waiting for her in his office.
He was very happy to see her.
“Comrade Song, the documents were personally picked up from the county yesterday afternoon, you’ve been working hard these past few days. Also, I’ve already taken care of the procedures at the guesthouse, you can just go there at night and report your name.”
“Okay, thank you!”
Director Zhao took good care of her.
While Song Shishi was translating, she worked directly in Director Zhao’s office.
This was to give her a relatively quiet environment.
As soon as she finished translating the first document, Director Zhao pushed open the door and came in, reminding her that someone was looking for her at the door.
Logically, she hadn’t told many people about her coming to the library to translate, so no one should be looking for her here.
But after thinking about it, she still locked the materials in her drawer before getting up to go out.
“Comrade Song.”
It was Uncle Fugui who was waiting for her outside the library.
Song Shishi asked in confusion, “Uncle Fugui, why haven’t you gone back yet?”
Uncle Fugui pushed the bicycle next to him over and said with a smile, “Madam told me last night that when I sent you here today, I must buy a bicycle for you.”
“How can that be? It’s too expensive, I can’t accept it.”
“Comrade Song, if you don’t accept it, I can’t return this bicycle, and I can’t take it back. Even if I take it back, Madam will blame me, and I’m afraid I’ll lose my job. What do you think?”
Uncle Fugui looked troubled, as if Song Shishi wouldn’t accept the bicycle, he would just stay here.
Seeing that some passersby had stopped to look out of curiosity, Song Shishi still had to go back to translate documents, after much hesitation, she still nodded and accepted.
It seemed that she would have to return it next time she saw Sister Qin.
Uncle Fugui, as if afraid that Song Shishi would change her mind, handed the bicycle to her, turned around and left.
Song Shishi shook her head helplessly, parked the bicycle by the library door, locked it, and then returned to her office to continue translating documents.
Although there were people coming and going at the library door, the registration desk was right next to the door, and her bicycle was parked there, so she didn’t have to worry about anyone stealing it.
After working for five days in a row, Song Shishi finally finished translating the thick stack of documents.
It must be said that the workload was really heavy.
These days, she came to the library every day at around six o’clock, and except for meals, she had to work until eight or nine o’clock in the evening.
Because Director Zhao needed the documents urgently, Song Shishi had to work hard.
As soon as the translation work was completed, Director Zhao couldn’t wait to organize all the materials and took a car to the county.
Fortunately, before he left, he settled Song Shishi’s wages for these days.
This time, there were a lot of documents to translate, but because they weren’t sure about the accuracy rate, Director Zhao only paid her five hundred yuan.
But for Song Shishi, this was already a lot.
You know, this money could cover her father’s monthly salary.
But it also proved the importance of these documents.
With a bicycle, it was much more convenient for Song Shishi to return to the Huaiqing Brigade.
She bought three kilograms of pork from the supply and marketing cooperative, two chickens, and ten kilograms of rice, and also bought some salt, white sugar, and cooking oil.
All these things added up to about twenty yuan, plus some tickets.
If she hadn’t been unable to carry more, Song Shishi would have bought more things to take back.
When she arrived at Xu Li’s house, the sun was already setting.
Xu Li had already gotten off work and was cooking.
Seeing Song Shishi come back, she was overjoyed and ran out of the kitchen in a flash.
