“The Gentle Rose Becomes His Most Beloved in the Apocalypse” Chapter 36

Chapter 36: I’ll Take Care of It

The next evening, Ji Mingchen returned to the ancient castle villa from the biology research building. As he entered the elevator, he happened to run into Lin Zeren.

Ji Mingchen greeted him with a smile, “Where are you going, Dr. Lin?”

Lin Zeren was flustered at the sight of him and also smiled back, “To the third-floor ward.”

Ji Mingchen asked, “Is Director Fei still on the third floor?”

Lin Zeren nodded, “He was still there when I left.”

“Miss Wei’s injury isn’t serious, but her mental state has been off. She’s been having nightmares and can’t sleep at night. She’s also been dazed during the day. Professor Fei is worried and has been staying with her…”

“I see…” Ji Mingchen’s lips curled up, and he said, “I’ll go with you to take a look.”

Lin Zeren: “…”

Although he wanted to say that his presence might worsen Miss Wei’s condition, he dared not speak because the man was Captain Ming.

They arrived at the third-floor ward together.

Fei Kewei was sitting on the bed, wearing a hospital gown and clutching a teddy bear. When she saw the man who had followed Lin Zeren in, her pupils constricted, and she shrank back.

It was as if she saw not a handsome man but a ghost or demon from hell.

Seeing this, Fei Qianjiang, who was by the bed, quickly stood up and bowed respectfully to the man, “…Captain Ming.”

Ji Mingchen smiled and nodded, his demeanor casual, “Director Fei, don’t be so formal. We’re all friends, just sit down and talk.”

How could Fei Qianjiang dare to sit? He could only stammer, “Captain Ming, how come you’re here?”

Ji Mingchen’s lips curved into a gentle and warm smile, “I heard from Dr. Lin that Miss Wei’s condition isn’t good, and Director Fei has been staying here. I wasn’t feeling at ease either, so I came to take a look.”

“…”

Fei Qianjiang glanced at his daughter, who was showing fear, and said anxiously, “It’s all because of my unfilial daughter’s recklessness and troublemaking. How could I trouble Captain Ming like this?”

Fei Kewei tightly hugged the teddy bear in her arms. As she listened to their conversation, she accidentally looked up and met those deep, peach-blossom eyes.

The man was dressed in a simple white shirt paired with black trousers. He was tall and handsome, with stunning features. The corners of his eyes were slightly upturned, which should have made for a gentle and kind smile, but his dark eyes were cold.

With just that one glance, Fei Kewei felt a chill down her spine. She instinctively averted her gaze and looked at her father in a panic, tears welling up in her eyes, “Dad, Dad…”

However, the devil also smiled at Fei Qianjiang, his demeanor elegant, his tone gentle and filled with concern, “Her complexion is a bit pale. Dr. Lin, please take another look. Also, Miss Wei, if you need anything, just tell Zhou Butler.”

Others might not have understood, but Fei Qianjiang instantly realized. He quickly said, “No need to bother. My daughter is just throwing a tantrum, there’s nothing serious. I’ll return to the research building tomorrow morning.”

Ji Mingchen’s lips curled up as he smiled politely at Fei Qianjiang.

Lin Zeren walked to the bedside, ready to take out his stethoscope, when a maid suddenly came from the doorway.

The maid knocked on the door. She was about to call Dr. Lin, but when she saw Captain Ming beside the door, she hesitated and didn’t dare to speak…

Ji Mingchen recognized her and raised his eyebrows, “What is it?”

The maid didn’t dare to look at him, so she lowered her head and stammered, “It’s… Miss Yao, her leg injury seems… a bit off. She wants Dr. Lin to take a look.”

Hearing this, Lin Zeren quickly stopped what he was doing and turned to look at the door.

Unexpectedly, Ji Mingchen smiled at Lin Zeren and said to the maid, “Dr. Lin is very busy now. I’ll go take a look.”

Wen Yao didn’t fall asleep until four or five in the morning. When she woke up again, it was dusk.

After waking up, she didn’t feel anything unusual. The wound on her arm was less painful after being treated, but her ankle, which had been entangled by the long-tongued mutant, was not right.

Yesterday when she came back, she had only lost feeling in her ankle, but now her whole lower leg was numb.

Even after the maids helped her change into a new dress and wash up, her left leg was still numb. She couldn’t feel anything when she pinched it or squeezed it, as if it had been amputated.

The two maids were worried about her, afraid that she would fall, so they helped her sit on the bed. One of them hurried to find Dr. Lin…

The other maid stood by the bed, accompanying her, occasionally saying with concern, “Miss Yao, don’t be afraid, the doctor will be here soon…”

Wen Yao: “…I’m not afraid.”

Not long after, the other maid returned, but she brought back not Dr. Lin, but Ji Mingchen.

The man adjusted his shirt sleeves as he entered, his expression as always lazy and smiling, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

“…”

That devilish face again.

Wen Yao wasn’t afraid to see him, but remembering her abrupt question last night, she felt awkward. She avoided his gaze and looked down at her hand, “Why are you here? Where’s Dr. Lin?”

“Dr. Lin is busy right now. Tell me what’s wrong.” Ji Mingchen said, winking at the maid standing by the bed.

With just that one wink, the maid understood. She walked to the door and pulled the other maid away.

Soon, the door to the room was gently closed.

In the room, which was decorated in a warm and girlish style, only two people remained, and the atmosphere suddenly became strange.

Looking at the slender jade hand that was about to lift the covers, Wen Yao took a deep breath and quickly pressed down on the covers, “Don’t…”

Ji Mingchen’s hand, which was holding the corner of the covers, stopped. He lifted his eyelids and looked at the nervous person on the bed.

Wen Yao didn’t know why she was nervous, but she could only say, “Or maybe let Dr. Lin come. I’m not used to you looking at my leg…”

Ji Mingchen didn’t seem to mind. He politely stood up straight and smiled, explaining, “You’ve been living in this ancient castle villa for a few days. You should know who Dr. Lin is.”

“He manages the medical room and pharmacy on the third floor. The commanders of the team almost always have new injuries every day, and these injuries need him to diagnose and treat.”

“So, Miss Yao, Dr. Lin is very busy now. He won’t be able to come for a while.”

Wen Yao clutched the covers, looking at the man’s smiling peach-blossom eyes, and listening to his gentle and magnetic voice, “Don’t trust me? Or are you not satisfied with the private doctor’s service?”

“…”

Private doctor, service…

Those words, which were perfectly normal, sounded so ambiguous coming from his mouth. Was her “perverted” filter for him too strong?
