Chapter 74: My Uncle is a Murderer (2/2)
“What’s with all the blood? It’s pretty scary…”
“Come on, calm down, they won’t come back. They were scared out of their wits. Let me light your cigarette.”
Snap.
A flame sparked up, and Feng Biao took a deep drag on his cigarette.
The smoke, under the orange light, seemed ethereal.
Feng Biao didn’t answer immediately, cigarette in mouth, glancing at the side of the 125cc motorcycle.
The fuel tank had a deep scratch, its old red paint peeled off, and the exhaust pipe was loose. Two plastic bags hung on the handlebars, now empty but stained with blood, creating a sinister appearance.
He exhaled smoke and slowly began to explain.
“Well, you see.”
“Last Sunday, old Liu from the village married off his daughter and killed a pig.”
“I thought your mom liked blood sausages, so I got some pig blood, planning to cook it and bring it to you and your mom.”
“Something came up on Sunday evening, so I put it aside.”
“I had arranged with your mom to bring it tonight. I planned to steam it during the day, but a friend asked me to discuss something important, so I got delayed. So I just hung the bag of pig blood and offal on the bike to steam it fresh when I got here. The blood on me is from when I rushed over here and took a nasty spill…”
“But they weren’t scared off by my bloody appearance just now!”
“I, Feng Biao, have a righteous aura. Who wouldn’t be afraid of me?”
“Help me up, it’s cold on the ground. Let’s go home, your mom and Lingyao should be back by now.”
So that was it.
Zhao Qingfeng couldn’t help but laugh.
He helped his uncle up, planning to take him to a bathhouse to clean up.
As they were about to leave,
two headlights flashed into the alley.
Feng Biao, thinking it was those three returning for revenge, shuddered.
It was only when he saw Shen Kuo with his mother and Shen Lingyao getting out of the car that he proudly approached, flaunting his bravery, “brother Shen, you’re late, I’ve already handled it! Those three were so scared, they ran off like cowards! What are you doing here, cleaning up or dealing with the aftermath?”
Shen Kuo knew Feng Biao too well, being ten years younger and often acting like brothers.
After understanding the situation, he laughed, “I say, Biao, you’re so formidable, why haven’t you sorted out that issue at home? The guy who ran off with your girl is still eyeing your property, isn’t he? You always talk about a massacre, why don’t you go for it?”
Feng Biao pushed Shen Kuo, “brother Shen, the kids are here. Why are you talking nonsense? All this talk of killing, not good for them to hear. Let’s go, you’re treating me to a drink tonight.”
Shen Kuo frowned in mock disgust, kicking Feng Biao lightly, “First, go to the bathhouse. Let them go home. If there’s anything, talk to me, and don’t always bother your sister. She’s got enough on her mind.”
The two headed to the bathhouse.
Zhao Qingfeng took his mother and Shen Lingyao home.
Shen Lingyao was terrified, constantly asking Zhao Qingfeng if he was okay.
After learning he had only suffered minor injuries, she asked who had sent those people.
“I don’t know.”
Zhao Qingfeng avoided the topic, then asked his mother, “Mom, what’s this about seizing land and taking a wife that uncle mentioned? How come I don’t know about it?”
His mother also avoided the topic, “It’s adult business. Don’t worry about it. Just go home and study. And I won’t set up the stall tomorrow. We’ll see after a while…”
Not setting up the stall was a relief.
Zhao Qingfeng was somewhat grateful to Huang Hao and his gang.
Otherwise, his own persuasions might not have worked.
He glanced at Shen Lingyao through the rearview mirror and winked.
Shen Lingyao, clever as she was, immediately understood, holding his mother’s hand, “Aunt Feng, I want to go to Uncle Biao’s house this Saturday. The air in the countryside is good for studying. Let Brother Qingfeng come with me, okay?”
She was his mother’s soft spot.
His mother agreed without much thought.
Returning to the residential area and exiting the car, Zhao Qingfeng didn’t go upstairs but headed straight for the internet cafe.
“I’ll wait for you at my place when you’re done. There’s a reward!”
Shen Lingyao wanted to follow but worried about affecting Zhao Qingfeng’s plans, reluctantly going upstairs.
