Chapter 54: You’re So Noisy

Early in the morning, the sky had just begun to lighten. The whole city was still asleep, but for Ji Xueli, a hardworking employee, the busyness of a new day had already begun.

Yawning nonstop, Ji Xueli forced herself to sit in front of her makeup table, but her heavy eyelids seemed to be under a spell, constantly drooping.

Getting up so early made her feel like neither her body nor her mind had fully woken up yet. Her consciousness was starting to blur.

Just then, the sound of light footsteps approached, followed by someone’s voice.

“Xueli, you’re back. I heard you weren’t feeling well. Are you okay now?”

Ji Xueli mustered some energy to look over. It was Guan Ru, who had walked in at some point, pretending to be concerned.

“Mm, I’m fine now,” she replied weakly.

“The crew was on hold for a while waiting for your return. You should take better care of yourself.” Guan Ru looked at her through the mirror, putting on a show of concern.

Claiming to be unwell, yet she didn’t look the least bit pale… Could this be just another excuse to avoid filming?

Her words were full of hidden complaints — about how the production had halted because of her — and she was being annoyingly chatty. Lead actors in productions like this usually had their own makeup rooms.

“You’re very noisy. Could you leave and let me have some quiet time?” Ji Xueli smiled, but that smile carried a subtle trace of irritation.

She turned her head away after speaking, not wanting any more eye contact. Although she maintained a polite demeanor, her tone and slight changes in expression revealed her dissatisfaction.

Guan Ru’s expression shifted, and she replied in a wronged tone, “I was just showing concern. How could you talk to me like that…”

“I appreciate the concern. Now, please leave,” Ji Xueli said, closing her eyes and ignoring her.

Getting up at 5 a.m. had left her exhausted. She didn’t even have the energy to fake niceness and had no patience to act out some phony drama with Guan Ru.

Guan Ru clenched her teeth. Ji Xueli still carried herself with that haughty heiress demeanor, as if everyone else was beneath her. That arrogant attitude was absolutely infuriating.

She didn’t say another word and turned to leave, but her anger burned hotter with every step.

No matter what it took, she was determined to make Ji Xueli suffer — she would not let her stand tall in the entertainment industry!

That day was packed with scenes focused on Ji Xueli, and it wasn’t until the afternoon that the male lead, Fu Yunfan, arrived.

As soon as he showed up — before even getting into costume — he rushed to Ji Xueli’s side with a worried expression.

“Senior, how’s your health?”

Ji Xueli, bored and playing a mobile game, looked up at the sound of his voice. “I’m fine now, don’t worry.”

Since Fu Yunfan was a fan of hers, she treated him a bit differently than others.

“I brought you some supplements — I gave them to Han Chen,” he said while subtly checking her appearance, finally relieved to see she looked healthy and fine.

More supplements… Ji Xueli felt like she was bleeding from every pore from how over-supplemented she’d been lately.

“Thanks…” she replied with a forced smile. The sight of more supplements made it impossible to smile for real.

“Yunfan, time to get into costume,” his assistant called out, urging him since he hadn’t moved.

“I’ll go now, Senior,” Fu Yunfan said, reluctantly glancing back at her.

“Mm, see you later.” Ji Xueli waved him off, then immediately returned to her game.

By the time they wrapped filming for the day, it was already close to 2 a.m. And she still had to get up early the next day.
