After Contracting a Marriage with the Villain, He Can’t Escape Chapter 17

Chapter 17: Can He Still Sleep?

The plane broke through the troposphere and entered a smooth flight zone.

The crew and guests of the show were either resting or entertaining themselves, preparing for the upcoming shoot after landing.

The 13-hour flight was quite exhausting.

Lin Xingmian put on his glasses and lowered his gaze to read a book.

The person next to him connected his phone to the internet and initially pestered him to play a game together. Later, his phone kept vibrating, and the smile on his face faded as he opened a document sent by his assistant, his expression tense with scrutiny.

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Xingmian felt a weight on his shoulder.

Jiang Zijin had leaned against him, seemingly fallen asleep.

The sunlight outside the window fell on his delicate profile, his long eyelashes resembling butterflies about to take flight.

The sunlight was just right, as if adding a filter to him, softening his sharp and profound features.

Lin Xingmian’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and his body moved unnaturally.

Jiang Zijin’s head remained still, as if he had completely passed out.

Lin Xingmian pursed his lips and glanced again at Jiang Zijin, who was leaning on his shoulder.

The man seemed to be sleeping restlessly, his brows slightly furrowed, with a faint shadow under his eyelids.

Jiang Zijin exhaled and relaxed his shoulders.

Forget it, let him sleep.

The night before, he not only had to deal with company matters but also stayed up late reviewing the list of things to pay attention to and the document about their mutual interests that Lin Xingmian had prepared.

Out of humanitarianism, it was better not to wake him.

Lin Xingmian turned his attention back to the book, flipping the pages with the same hand.

Not far away, Director Wu, who hadn’t yet rested, was admiring the beautiful scene, holding his phone to capture the moment of the two leaning against each other on the plane.

Director Wu seemed to remember something and slowed his pace as he approached them, reminding:

“Lin Xingmian, we’ll be arriving at our destination soon. Since you’re the tour guide for this trip to Italy, do you have any special arrangements you need to discuss with our crew?”

Lin Xingmian frowned in confusion, “I’m the tour guide? Why wasn’t I informed earlier? I haven’t prepared anything.”

“Ah!” Director Wu’s eyes widened, “I sent it to your agent a month ago!”

“My agent didn’t notify me, and I just changed agents half a month ago. I specifically mentioned it on Weibo. Didn’t you know?”

Director Wu was stunned for a few seconds, then turned to the assistant director, “Who did you send it to?”

The female assistant director was visibly startled and hurriedly said, “I saw your Weibo post. That day, I even organized the documents and planned to go to your company to deliver them personally. Ji Ansheng had just signed a contract and said he knew your agent, so he offered to deliver them for me while discussing some collaboration matters. I even marked the itinerary you needed to arrange.”

Lin Xingmian’s gaze shifted to Ji Ansheng, who was sitting slightly ahead, his voice slightly cold, “Who did you give it to? I didn’t receive anything.”

Ji Ansheng panicked for a moment, tugging at his hair, his brows furrowed as if trying hard to recall.

“I definitely gave it to a tall woman that day! Didn’t she pass it to you?”

Lin Xingmian chuckled helplessly, “All regular employees at the company wear ID badges. Didn’t you see her badge?”

Ji Ansheng pouted, his nose slightly red, tears welling up in his eyes, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was in a hurry to sign the contract that day, so I might not have looked carefully.”

The female assistant director’s mouth hung open, momentarily too stunned to speak.

She had spent three days organizing that document! And he just casually gave it away!

“If you don’t even have the basic ability to judge people, you might as well quit acting!” Lin Xingmian said sharply.

Ji Ansheng’s shoulders trembled, and tears fell from his eyes, making him look pitiful.

“Alright, Lin Xingmian, Ji Ansheng is a junior, and he probably didn’t mean it. There’s Wi-Fi on the plane, so you can still make adjustments now,” He Yuean across from them tried to mediate.

Lin Xingmian glanced at Ji Ansheng, his voice cold, “If you don’t have the Diamond Drill, don’t take on the Porcelain Work. Don’t make the same mistake twice.”

Ji Ansheng sniffled while crying, afraid he would be criticized again.

“Stop crying. Lin Xingmian is very serious about his work. Just be more careful in the future,” He Yuean patted his back.

Qin Mu, sitting nearby, rolled his eyes, completely uninterested in dealing with Ji Ansheng and He Yuean.

As an Omega himself, he knew exactly what tricks Ji Ansheng was playing!

Due to their physical condition, Omegas are often categorized as a vulnerable group in society.

But in reality, there are many outstanding Omegas in the workplace. Ji Ansheng was just being manipulative, and it was completely intentional.

Only a fool like He Yuean couldn’t see through it.

Ji Ansheng pretended to be strong, wiped away his tears, and walked up to Lin Xingmian. “I’m sorry, Teacher Lin. I shouldn’t have brought you the documents. I won’t interfere in the future.”

Lin Xingmian didn’t even look up. “Stay away. If the plane hits turbulence, you might end up falling flat on your face.”

Ji Ansheng’s expression froze for a moment, then quickly shifted to one of hurt.

The female assistant director was fuming and was about to say something when Director Wu quickly pulled her away.

Director Wu dragged the struggling assistant director out of the business class and made a “shush” gesture.

“What are you doing! He was clearly doing it on purpose! Because of his actions, our 8-day plan might be delayed!” The assistant director shook off his hand, furious.

“Some tickets can’t be bought without advance reservations! How are we supposed to film?”

Director Wu sighed. “He was pushed in by the sponsor. What could I do?”

“Lin Xingmian’s status is clear. He said his piece, so don’t get involved.”

“Book the accommodations first. We’ll land in the evening, so make sure the guests have a place to stay.”

The assistant director, still seething, angrily sat back down and booked several expensive suites on her phone.

Director Wu lifted the curtain, saw that the situation had calmed down, and gave Lin Xingmian a grateful look.

Lin Xingmian was the biggest star here. Strictly speaking, this was the director team’s fault.

The fact that he wasn’t making a big deal out of it was the best outcome.

Lin Xingmian nodded in acknowledgment and pushed the still-sleeping Jiang Zijin back into his seat.

He rubbed his sore shoulders and opened his phone to search for relevant guides.

The light outside the window gradually dimmed, and the cabin lights grew faint.

Ji Ansheng was chatting and laughing with Shen Yan when he suddenly caught a glimpse of Jiang Zijin out of the corner of his eye.

Jiang Zijin leaned back in his seat, slowly opening his eyes.

His sharp features were half-hidden in the darkness, and his narrow blue eyes glowed eerily in the dim light.

The ambiguous expression on his face carried an overwhelming sense of pressure, like a predator ready to pounce at any moment, its fangs poised to pierce his neck.

Ji Ansheng immediately averted his gaze, breaking out in a cold sweat.

Was it just his imagination? Wasn’t he just sleeping a moment ago?

I’m an Omega, he wouldn’t dare do anything to me in front of so many cameras!

Ji Ansheng tried to calm his frightened heart, but he didn’t dare to look back again.

Jiang Zijin sneered coldly. If it weren’t for the fact that he was an Omega, he would have died many times over.

Lin Xingmian, who was busy with his strategy, turned his head at the sound.

He saw Jiang Zijin roll over, seemingly falling back asleep.

Jiang Zijin: (patting his chest) That was close, almost got caught pretending to sleep by my wife.
