Chapter 17: Space Supermarket

Jiang Xiaobao pouted and jumped out of her father’s arms. She toddled over to Li Yiyi’s side and hugged her leg. “This is my mom,” the little one said, a bit jealous, as she looked at Jiang Jianguo.

Everyone couldn’t help but laugh when they saw the two little ones so young, already displaying signs of rivalry and jealousy.

After this little incident, Jiang Mu’s anger quickly subsided. She then walked over to Li Yiyi, speaking seriously, “Third son’s wife, if you ever run into Yang Tao, don’t listen to her nonsense. Back then, I did want her to meet with the third, but it didn’t work out. Her mother thought that if her precious daughter married our third, she might end up a widow, so I got so angry that I put an end to the idea. They really have nothing going on between them, so don’t overthink it.”

After hearing Jiang Mu’s explanation, Li Yiyi finally understood the situation.

At that moment, she somewhat understood why Yang Tao had been targeting her a few times.

“It’s okay, Mom, I understand. Now, Jiang Hong is my man, and I won’t get jealous over this,” she said with a smile.

“I’m glad you understand. I heard from the third that you’re planning to take some qualification exams. If you can’t take care of the two kids, you can bring them over here. Let’s have Jiannian help with them,” Jiang Mu said, looking at her with satisfaction.

“Alright, Mom. If I can’t manage, I’ll definitely bring them over.”

“Third daughter-in-law, you’re going for an exam?” Jiang Ersao asked in surprise.

She had stopped studying after second grade, mainly because seeing words made her dizzy, and just hearing the word “exam” made her nervous.

“Yes, I’m planning to take the medical qualification exam. If I pass, I can work at a hospital or a village clinic,” Li Yiyi replied.

Her words made Jiang Dashao and Jiang Ersao look at her with admiration.

“If you pass, you’ll be eating government rations!” Jiang Mu said, her eyes sparkling.

When Jiang Father heard that, he happily took a drag from his cigarette.

He never expected that the Jiang family would produce two people eating government rations. Looking around the village, no other family could compare.

“Yeah, but I still have to pass the exam. After all, I only graduated from sixth grade. But I’ll try my best,” she said, a bit embarrassed.

After lunch, Li Yiyi took the two kids for a nap. When they woke up, she searched the house but couldn’t find Jiang Hong.

Just then, she heard Jiang Dashao’s voice calling her name from outside the wall.

Li Yiyi peeked her head out and saw Jiang Dashao and Jiang Ersao standing outside the wall, both carrying a basket. Behind them were Jiang Jiannian and a few others.

“Third daughter-in-law, my second sister-in-law and I are going into the mountains to pick wild vegetables. Do you want to come along?” Jiang Dashao asked with a smile.

Li Yiyi thought that although she had vegetables in her space supermarket, she didn’t have the chance to bring them out.

Thinking about the dinner for tonight, she decided to go with them to pick wild vegetables.

“Sure, Daxiao, Ersao, wait for me a moment. I’ll go wake up the two kids,” she immediately replied.

“Alright, go ahead. We’ll wait for you outside,” Jiang Dashao said.

Not wanting to keep them waiting too long, Li Yiyi quickly ran into the house and woke up the sleeping children.

Both kids were very obedient. When she told them they were going to the mountains to pick wild vegetables, the older one immediately got up to find clothes, and the younger one sat on the bed, patiently letting Li Yiyi dress them.

Ten minutes later, the mother and children were dressed, and Li Yiyi grabbed a basket and led the two kids out to join the two sisters-in-law waiting outside.

Before they entered the mountains, Li Yiyi had imagined that the mountain would be full of wild vegetables to pick, but when they arrived and saw the bare land, she was quickly brought back to reality.

It turned out that in recent years, everyone had been struggling, and wild vegetables had become a food source to stave off hunger. With so many people picking them, the wild vegetables had become increasingly scarce.

“Third daughter-in-law, let’s scatter and look for wild vegetables, but remember, don’t go into the deep mountains. There are wild beasts there. The older folks say they’ve seen tigers there. Be careful,” Jiang Dashao warned.

Li Yiyi nodded seriously, “I understand, Daxiao.”

“Three aunt, I’ll take Yueyue and Xiaobao. You can go pick wild vegetables with peace of mind,” Jiang Jiannian said, his face a little red.

Li Yiyi smiled and agreed, “Alright, Jiannian, thank you. I have some biscuits here. You can share them with the others.” She handed him a bag of biscuits.

Jiang Jiannian, blushing, took the biscuits and quietly said, “Thank you, Three Aunt.” After that, he shyly led the younger kids away.

After arranging the children, Li Yiyi also started searching for wild vegetables nearby.

She wasn’t sure if it was just bad luck or if the area had already been picked clean, but after searching for a long time, she didn’t find a single wild vegetable.

Seeing her basket remained empty, Li Yiyi suddenly thought of the vegetables from her space supermarket. Her eyes lit up, realizing this was a perfect opportunity to use them.

Looking around to make sure no one was nearby, she quickly found a hidden spot and entered the space supermarket.

Once inside, she walked straight to the vegetable section, noticing that everything here didn’t spoil. The vegetables were still fresh and green, as though they had just been put out.

She also made another discovery after entering the space twice: when she bought something, the items would automatically be restocked, meaning she didn’t have to worry about running out of stock.

After browsing the vegetable section, Li Yiyi grabbed five bundles of vegetables that looked like wild greens. As she passed the meat section, she also grabbed two rabbits that hadn’t been skinned.

At the checkout, when she saw her balance, Li Yiyi couldn’t help but smile. Ten dollars outside was like having superpowers here.

In the end, everything only cost her 158 yuan.

She left the space, untied the vegetables from their string, and then looked at the two rabbits. A satisfied smile appeared on her face. This was perfect.

Just then, she heard Jiang Dashao calling her name in the distance, and Li Yiyi quickly ran over, carrying everything.
