The top student’s soul transmigrated into a failing student – Chapter 21

Chapter 21

“Run, Sister Yu!” Xu Leyun looked panicked. She didn’t even bother shutting down the computer, flung open the private room door, and dashed out.

Even though Jiang Zhiyu wasn’t actually skipping class, she had no choice but to run with the crowd. In the slanted light, she saw it was teachers from the Moral Education Office—and among the students leading the raid were Ye Muwan and Lin Yeci.

They looked like some kind of “Anti-Smutt Squad” on official duty, grabbing every student who tried to escape. A few older-looking ones not in uniform managed to slip away, pretending to be regular middle-aged net café goers.

Jiang Zhiyu had originally been with Xu Leyun.

In the chaos, they ran in different directions. It was her first time in this internet café, and she didn’t know the layout. When she saw Ye Muwan getting closer, she panicked and dove into the restroom.

Inside were a man and a woman who both looked around 25 or 26. The woman, dressed like a maid, was clearly working as a “gaming companion” and wore a top so low it dipped beneath her chest.

And the man…
Had his head… buried in there.

Totally not kid-friendly. Jiang Zhiyu quickly covered her eyes, giggled awkwardly, and tried to act calm. “Sorry for the interruption, carry on…”

Then she walked fully into the restroom and shut the stall door.

The man sounded annoyed, like he’d just been interrupted during something super important. “Such a buzzkill.”

The woman giggled seductively, gently hooked her finger under his chin, and whispered, “Why don’t we get a room instead?”

“Sure, sure,” the man said like a greedy beast, eyes gleaming as he grabbed her waist.

The woman, playing hard to get, placed a finger on his slightly thick lips. “It’ll cost extra~”

The man laughed heartily. “Any amount’s fine, as long as you’re willing…”

Their voices gradually faded, and eventually even their footsteps disappeared completely.

Jiang Zhiyu let out a long sigh. The stench and smoky air in the stall made her pinch her nose in disgust.

Outside, a teacher from the Moral Education Office shouted, “Students from Jingbei High, give yourselves up now. If you come out on your own, your punishment will be lighter. If we catch you, it’ll be doubled!”

Jiang Zhiyu swallowed nervously. Technically, she didn’t need to hide—she wasn’t in uniform and had taken a day off. But she knew that if she walked out now, Ye Muwan would catch her red-handed. Teachers loved that bootlicker type like Ye Muwan, and would slap a charge on her even if she didn’t deserve it.

The shouting eventually died down. Jiang Zhiyu planned to wait it out a bit longer, but a spider the size of a palm on the wall startled her. She shuddered and quickly stepped out of the stall.

The restroom layout was different from the girls’ restroom. Maybe because she was so flustered when she rushed in—combined with witnessing that scene—she hadn’t noticed she was in the men’s restroom.

Luckily, no one else was inside. Jiang Zhiyu breathed a sigh of relief and was about to leave…
When Lin Yeci appeared right in front of her.

She turned to run back into the stall—but he called out to her.

“What are you doing here?” Lin Yeci rubbed his eyes and looked at her in disbelief.

She straightened up, looking both guilty and defiant. “I… I came here to play games!”

“You came HERE to play games?? I thought you’d just be playing mobile games at home or something! You came to this place?! Do you know how dangerous it is here?! What if you get kidnapped? What would you do then?!”

Lin Yeci was livid and shouted at her.

It was the first time she’d seen this side of him—fierce but kind of… cute.

“Yeci, are there any students skipping class in there?” Ye Muwan stood at the entrance of the men’s restroom. She couldn’t quite hear what was being said, but it sounded like an argument.

Lin Yeci stopped shouting, took a deep breath, and replied, “Didn’t see anyone.”

“…Then why did I hear a girl’s voice? Is there a girl in there?” Ye Muwan asked suspiciously.

Jiang Zhiyu waved her arms frantically, then clasped her hands together pleadingly. Please don’t rat me out…

Lin Yeci let out a disdainful snort.

Then turned toward the door and said, “I was talking to my sister on the phone. Something came up at home.”

Even though he gave that explanation, Ye Muwan still didn’t quite buy it. She went to the teachers and reported her suspicion about the restroom.

The teacher from the Moral Education Office found the claim a bit amusing. A girl and Lin Yeci together in the bathroom? Sounded like something out of a ridiculous comedy.

But Ye Muwan was known as a model student, unlikely to lie, so the teacher decided to check it out.

Before they could leave the restroom, they heard the sound of footsteps—Ye Muwan and the teachers heading their way.

Maybe Lin Yeci was also afraid of being caught, so he quickly grabbed Jiang Zhiyu’s hand and pulled her back into the stall.

The moment they entered, Jiang Zhiyu remembered the spider. She looked at the wall—and saw it seemingly waving at her, its white fangs twitching.

She shrieked silently, jumped, and wrapped her legs around Lin Yeci’s waist like a human keychain. Her head buried in his shoulder, she trembled and pointed at the wall.

Lin Yeci’s skin crawled too when he saw the massive spider.

But he quickly calmed himself. Seeing how she was clinging to him like she’d fall off, he gently supported her back—though awkwardly kept a bit of distance.

It was his first time holding a girl. The air felt frozen, blood rushed in reverse, and his heart was beating so fast his whole face turned red—including his ears.

A male teacher’s booming voice shattered the moment: “Lin, where are you?”

“I’m here, stomach hurts. I’m using the toilet,” Lin Yeci responded.

And then… Jiang Zhiyu, the world’s #1 voice actress, immediately mimicked a sound:

Bu~ Bu~

The teacher muttered, “Kid looks like the type all the girls like, but farts louder than anyone…”

His voice was quiet, but in the dead-silent bathroom, even the spider’s whisper could be heard.

Jiang Zhiyu stifled her laughter—she had completely ruined Lin Yeci’s good image.

The teacher stepped closer and peeked into the stall, trying to count legs to see if Lin Yeci was in there alone.

Eventually, he concluded that there was only one person inside and left. Outside, he shrugged at the confused Ye Muwan.
