After completing her postpartum recovery, Wang Jinhe asked Qiu Yi and the others to help take care of the children, then took Su Yu to the mountains for some fun.
Watching Wang Jinhe frolic around, Su Yu couldn’t help but chuckle. “Jinhe, look at how grown-up you are now.”
“It doesn’t matter how grown-up I am. You know I was confined at home for so long. How could you not let me out for a stroll?” Wang Jinhe asked, displeased.
“How could I not? You’ve had a hard time during this period,” Su Yu replied.
Su Yu knew that Wang Jinhe was restless and didn’t like staying at home. It was really tough for her to stay indoors for fifty days.
“If you want to go out for a walk, then let’s go,” Su Yu suggested.
“Okay.”
Su Yu took Wang Jinhe to the deep mountains, where she was lucky enough to find a hundred-year-old ginseng and a lingzhi mushroom.
After being watered with spirit spring water, the quality of the plants improved.
“Do you think Huang Qi will be ecstatic if I give this to him?” Wang Jinhe asked cheerfully.
“It’s possible. He used to ask you for treasures all the time, right? But we won’t give this to him. We’ll keep it for ourselves, and Bai Qi and the others will prepare it,” Su Yu said. Such a good thing naturally had to be kept for their own use. Why give it to Huang Qi?
Wang Jinhe was initially a bit hesitant, but upon hearing Su Yu’s words, she suddenly felt that he was right.
“Alright, this time we won’t give it to him. We’ll share some with him next time we come across something good,” Wang Jinhe said without any psychological burden.
“Okay, I’ll follow your lead.”
“Have the seedlings been bred?” Wang Jinhe suddenly thought of this.
Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe, feeling both amused and exasperated. They had come out to have fun, hadn’t they? Yet here she was, already asking about serious matters. This girl really couldn’t sit still.
“Don’t worry, the agricultural experts have already started breeding, and the corn has been planted,” Su Yu reassured her.
Wang Jinhe felt relieved. “That’s good. I need to go and check on it in a couple of days. I also need to visit the villages where I had flowers planted. I wonder if the flowers are ready for harvest.”
Listening to Wang Jinhe’s rambling, Su Yu couldn’t help but twitch at the corner of his mouth. She was his wife, a wife who couldn’t sit still for a single day.
“Wife, you’ve just given birth to a child. Shouldn’t we take a good rest before discussing this?” Su Yu carefully suggested.
Wang Jinhe grunted discontentedly. “I’ve been in bed for nearly two months, and you’re telling me to rest? That’s too much.”
Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe, finding her both exasperating and adorable.
“Alright, we’ll do as you say. We have plenty of people to help take care of the children,” Su Yu agreed. During the day, anyone could take care of the children, but at night, it had to be the two of them, or else the babies would cry.
Su Yu felt both helpless and accomplished at the same time, because their children really liked them.
“You’re right. Our two little darlings are so easy to take care of,” Wang Jinhe added. They would eat their fill in one go and then sleep.
This made her feel like she was raising little piglets.
Little piglets eat and then sleep, and then sleep and eat.
“Of course, our children are the best,” Su Yu said matter-of-factly.
Wang Jinhe didn’t feel like talking to Su Yu. He was completely a child slave now, treating the two little ones well and not neglecting Xiao Bao and the others. He treated them equally well, and the birth of the twins didn’t make him neglect Xiao Bao and the others. They didn’t feel a big difference because they were treated very well just like the twins.
“Have you thought of names for the two children?” Su Yu asked.
“Su Yanxi and Su Yanchen,” Wang Jinhe replied.
Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement. The names of the two children clearly indicated that they were twins.
“Let’s go home,” Wang Jinhe said, turning to Su Yu with a smile.
“Okay.”
After returning home, they handed the ginseng and lingzhi to Bai Qi and the others. “Take these and store them properly, in case we need them in the future.”
“Where did you find these, Brother Yu? The quality is amazing,” Bai Qi asked in amazement, looking at the lingzhi and ginseng in his hands.
The two exchanged a glance, smiling. “We found them in the mountains.”
“We’ve been to the mountains too. How come we couldn’t find them?” They had combed through the mountains over the past few months, but hadn’t come across anything of such high quality.
Wang Jinhe thought for a moment before speaking seriously, “It’s probably because your luck isn’t as good as mine.”
Wang Jinhe wasn’t entirely wrong. Her luck was indeed exceptional, often obtaining things that others wouldn’t even dare to dream of.
Su Yu ruffled Wang Jinhe’s hair and remained silent. She had been feeling pent up lately, so it was good to let her have some fun.
Yuan Bao approached Su Yu from behind. “Master Yin Fan and the others have returned.”
“Tell them to wait for me in the study.”
“Understood.”
“Jinhe, you chat with Nan Qiao and the others. I’ll go to the study,” Su Yu said.
“Okay.”
When Su Yu arrived, Yin Fan and the others were already waiting. Upon seeing Su Yu, Yin Fan smiled and said, “Brother Yu, you’ve lived up to your reputation.”
“Very good,” Su Yu nodded in satisfaction.
“But now Ling Xiaochen and Ling Xiaoye are causing quite a stir. The Emperor of Ling has recovered and is now settling scores after the autumn,” Yin Fan said with a smile.
Su Yu chuckled softly, “The Emperor is still alive, and the Crown Prince is already trying to force a palace coup. If the Emperor of Ling had passed away, it would have been fine, but now that he’s recovered, he will naturally come after them.”
“Brother Yu, I feel that Ling Xiaoye and the others may not be a match for Ling Xiaochen’s faction. The power of Ling Xiaochen’s external family is too strong,” Yin Fan expressed his concern.
Although Ling Xiaoye’s external family had some influence, it was still far inferior to Ling Xiaochen’s.
“If Ling Xiaoye has the support of the Emperor of Ling, although Ling Empire is under the control of Ling Xiaochen’s maternal family, there is still a faction that supports the Emperor. If these people side with Ling Xiaoye, he and Ling Xiaochen will be evenly matched,” Su Yu explained.
Yin Fan furrowed his brow. Even if that were the case, would Ling Xiaochen’s maternal family give the Emperor of Ling Empire a chance?
“Yin Fan, whether Ling Xiaoye, or Ling Xiaochen is the strongest is none of our concern. Our ultimate goal is to create chaos in Ling Empire, preventing them from joining forces with Qi to attack Xuan. As long as Ling Empire is in turmoil, our objective will be achieved. Based on the situation you’ve described, it’s clear that internal turmoil in Ling Empire will take some time. At least until Ling Xiaoye and his brother settle their differences, they won’t have the time to focus on war,” Su Yu explained.
Yin Fan paused for a moment, then understood Su Yu’s meaning. Brother Yu was right; their goal was to foment internal strife in Ling Empire, preventing them from mobilizing against Xuan. As long as this objective was met, their purpose would be fulfilled.
“Brother Yu, should we have someone keep an eye on them? To prevent Qi from intervening and helping Ling Empire end the internal strife prematurely?” Yin Fan asked Su Yu.
Su Yu nodded with a smile, “Of course.”
