Chapter 40: Will You Only Love Me?
By the time Tang Feng got home, Tang Long and his wife had already pushed the tricycle into the garage. Then, the family of three went upstairs. Not long after they entered the house, the phone rang. Tang Feng hurried to answer it. The call was from Su Xiaoli, who just wanted to make sure Tang Feng had gotten home safely. They chatted briefly and then ended the call.
Tang Feng put down the phone and saw his parents looking at him. He smiled awkwardly, then quickly washed up and went back to his bedroom. He took out the income from tonight and carefully counted it. Such income, even before his rebirth, he had never earned. Thankfully, he had the system; otherwise, it would not have been possible to earn so much money in such a short time. However, he knew this amount of money definitely wouldn’t buy a mobile phone. He still needed to sell the recipe at a good price.
Next, he opened the system panel to check if he had received any point rewards. The number of points remained unchanged. It seems that only by completing the three-day stall mission could he receive point rewards. He carefully stored the money he had earned and then lay in bed, quickly falling asleep.
When he woke up in the morning, Su Xiaoli had already arrived at his house with breakfast. He quickly got dressed, washed his face in the bathroom, and then sat down at the dining table. Today, Su Xiaoli had brought him youtiao (fried dough sticks), tofu brain (tofu pudding), and two tea eggs.
“Have you eaten?” Tang Feng asked with a smile.
“No,” Su Xiaoli shook her head, “I wanted to eat with you.”
“You…” Tang Feng couldn’t help but shake his head, peeled a tea egg, and placed it on the plate in front of her.
Su Xiaoli didn’t say anything, just smiled. As their relationship grew closer, she now wished she could stay with him 24 hours a day.
“What are your plans for today?” Tang Feng asked while sipping the tofu pudding.
“I don’t know. What about you?” Su Xiaoli asked back.
“How about we go watch a movie?” Tang Feng suggested.
“Okay!” Su Xiaoli agreed without hesitation.
After breakfast, Tang Feng rode his bike with her to the cinema. There was only one cinema in Binjiang District at the time. Perhaps because it was daytime, there weren’t many customers. The cinema’s walls were covered with various promotional posters.
“Xiaoli, which one do you want to watch?” Tang Feng asked with a smile.
“How about ‘Love Undercover’? I see the leads are Louis Koo and Miriam Yeung,” Su Xiaoli suggested.
“Sure!” Tang Feng agreed and bought two tickets at the ticket counter, along with a bucket of popcorn and two bottles of Coca-Cola.
After they checked in, they found their seats in the auditorium as indicated on the tickets. More viewers gradually filled the room, including many couples.
Su Xiaoli looked a bit nervous, fearing they might run into someone they knew, which could lead to an awkward situation. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. Soon, the lights dimmed, and the movie began.
Though Tang Feng was watching the screen, his thoughts were on Su Xiaoli. He picked up a piece of popcorn and fed it to her. Su Xiaoli hesitated at first but then smiled and ate it.
Seeing she didn’t refuse, Tang Feng became bolder and continued to feed her popcorn, which she accepted with a smile. Tang Feng was thrilled.
As the plot progressed, Su Xiaoli, who had never seen the movie, became engrossed. However, as the story unfolded, her eyes began to tear up, and she eventually cried a lot. Tang Feng, having seen the movie before, had prepared tissues in advance and gently wiped away her tears.
After the movie ended and they stood up, Su Xiaoli asked, “Tang Feng, do people only learn to cherish after losing something?”
“Perhaps,” Tang Feng nodded.
“Can’t they learn to cherish without losing first?” Su Xiaoli felt a profound sense of helplessness.
Tang Feng did not respond. On this question, he had no right to answer. Only after rebirth did he truly appreciate Su Xiaoli’s kindness towards him. If not for this second chance, he might not have cherished her.
“Tang Feng, will you only love me?” Su Xiaoli suddenly asked very seriously.
“Yes!” Tang Feng answered without hesitation.
Su Xiaoli didn’t respond.
“What? If you don’t believe me, I can swear to heaven!” Tang Feng raised his right hand.
“What are you doing! I didn’t say I didn’t believe you!” Su Xiaoli instinctively grabbed his arm.
“I promise, as long as you’re with me, I’ll always love only you,” Tang Feng looked into her eyes, filled with deep love.
“Hmph! Easy for you to say! Let’s see if you still say that after meeting prettier girls at Jingcheng University!” Su Xiaoli pouted.
Seeing her like this, Tang Feng laughed. It’s true, women are quite adorable when jealous.
“You’re laughing! I’m not talking to you!” Su Xiaoli glared at him and walked ahead.
Tang Feng shook his head and followed her. They soon returned to Tang Feng’s home.
“What do you want for lunch?” Tang Feng asked as he approached.
“Eat you!” Su Xiaoli seemed still upset.
“Alright! Do you prefer fried or steamed?” Tang Feng agreed readily.
“Raw!” Su Xiaoli replied.
Tang Feng said nothing, simply extending his arm to her. Hesitating for a moment, she bit him lightly, careful not to hurt him. Tang Feng, seeing this, wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her. Su Xiaoli was too slow to dodge. The air in the living room seemed to freeze for a moment. But eventually, they parted.
Su Xiaoli opened her eyes shyly. Tang Feng turned and went to the kitchen without saying a word, leaving her staring at his back, somewhat dazed. She had harbored a secret crush on him for many years without daring to confess. Now, as the college entrance exam approached, not only did he confess his feelings, but he also tirelessly tutored her. This made her heart flutter, feeling as if she were living a dream. She wished this dream would never end.
