Chapter 391: You Better Be Careful
After listening to him, Li Yiyi felt a bit heavy-hearted. She knew this was beyond her abilities, and the only thing she could do was help as much as she could.
Soon, she gathered herself and looked at him. “Alright, don’t worry. On the way into the mountain, I’ll do my best to help you, but how much you can learn will depend on yourself.”
“I will definitely work hard to learn from you, Comrade Li,” Ye Fan said excitedly when he heard she was willing to teach him.
Not far away, Jiang Hong was lightly pushed by his good friend.
“Brother, I feel like your position is a bit shaky now. You better be careful,” Hong Shuo said, watching his silent friend with an amused look.
Jiang Hong, with a serious expression, glared at him. “Shut your mouth. Didn’t you hear Ye Fan’s explanation? He agreed to guide us into the mountain because he wants to learn medicine from Yiyi. Stop thinking about other things. Please clean your dirty mind.”
After finishing, he shot a glare at Hong Shuo and walked towards his wife, who had just finished speaking with Ye Fan.
Hong Shuo, left standing there, pointed at himself in disbelief and muttered, “My mind’s dirty? I think it’s your mind that’s dirty. I barely said anything, and you threw a whole lecture at me.”
At that moment, Jiang Hong had already walked over to Li Yiyi.
“You came just in time. I just spoke with Ye Fan. He agreed to go into the mountain with us. You can go tell Hong Shuo that he can start preparing,” Li Yiyi said happily as she spoke to him.
Jiang Hong nodded. “I overheard your conversation just now. Hong Shuo is right beside me, and he’s already going to handle it.”
Li Yiyi nodded and, seeing that there was still some time before departure, took his hand and walked to a quiet spot to discuss Ye Fan’s request.
“Actually, I’m quite surprised by his intentions. Seeing that he has such noble ambitions, I feel like helping him wouldn’t hurt. What do you think?” she said.
“Well, if you think it’s okay, then it’s fine with me. I’ll follow your lead,” Jiang Hong said, holding her hand gently, listening intently.
Li Yiyi smiled, looking at his serious face, and said, “I just wanted to let you know beforehand, so you won’t have any misunderstandings later.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Hong immediately showed a slightly awkward expression, replying firmly, “Am I that kind of person? You’re underestimating me.”
At that moment, Hong Shuo’s voice rang out from nearby, which conveniently broke the tension.
“It’s that little rascal Hong Shuo. He’s probably calling us to gather. Let’s go.” He quickly took her hand and said.
Seeing that there were indeed people gathering in the distance, Li Yiyi nodded.
As the couple walked over, Hong Shuo was talking to everyone about the things to pay attention to when entering the mountain.
“You don’t have to stay with me. Go take care of your business,” Li Yiyi said once they arrived at the gathering spot, knowing that he had other things to do.
Jiang Hong gently squeezed her hand. “I’ll go over there first. Take care of yourself here. If anything happens, just let someone contact me.”
“Got it. Go ahead,” Li Yiyi said with a smile, pushing him lightly.
Seeing that the group couldn’t afford to delay, Jiang Hong reluctantly let go of his wife’s hand and turned toward the team’s assembly area.
“Alright, everyone, I’ve covered the important points. Just don’t wander off and follow our instructions. We’ll do our best to ensure your safety,” Hong Shuo said, his mouth dry from speaking, before reminding the group again.
“Now, check your bags and make sure you’ve packed everything you need. But I still suggest you go light for the mountain trip. The path is tough, and carrying too much weight will only slow us down.” After saying this, Hong Shuo glanced at someone in the crowd and gave a small smile before turning and walking back toward the group.
As Li Yiyi went to find Gu Weiwei, she passed by Liu Caifeng and her group and overheard some arguments.
“Caifeng, didn’t you hear what Instructor Hong said? Didn’t he tell us not to pack unnecessary things? Like all that face cream, and these two pairs of shoes. I think it’s better to leave them behind,” Wu Xianting said, noticing that Caifeng’s bag was about to burst.
“How can I not bring them? These shoes cost me a month’s wages! If I lose them, I’d be heartbroken. I have to bring them with me,” Liu Caifeng replied.
“Well, it’s your choice. But if you can’t walk later, don’t come asking me for help,” Wu Xianting said quickly.
“Who needs your help? Who helps who later is still up in the air,” Liu Caifeng retorted, giving her a dismissive glance.
Li Yiyi shook her head, not bothering with Liu Caifeng, and walked quickly toward Gu Weiwei.
“Yiyi, you’re back! Do you think I packed too much? Is it too heavy?” Gu Weiwei, also organizing her things, saw Yiyi return and immediately asked, looking at her piles of items as if she were seeing a savior.
Li Yiyi glanced at the items, which included some food, water, and a change of clothes.
“No, it’s fine. Just bring these. If you need anything else, I have it here,” she said, knowing she could easily get anything from her space store.
“Okay, I’ll help you carry it all too,” Gu Weiwei said gratefully.
“Don’t forget the pills,” Li Yiyi whispered in her ear.
Gu Weiwei smiled and patted her pocket. “Don’t worry. I didn’t forget. I keep it on me at all times. I’ll make sure to keep it close.”
Li Yiyi smiled at her reply.
Ten minutes later, the group started moving toward the mysterious Wushan, following the soldiers in their army green uniforms.
Once they entered the mountain, the wildlife soon came into view.
It was unclear whether it was because this mountain rarely saw people or something else, but the animals seemed unafraid of humans. Some even stopped and stared at the group for a while before slowly walking away.
