Yuan Bao remained silent, not saying a word. Su Yu was right—only Gu Sheng’s push from behind could have led to the development of the Gu family’s situation.
“What is his purpose in doing this? Does Gu Sheng also want Gu Xiruo to become the head of the family? If so, what about Gu Yanqi? He is the rightful heir of the Gu family,” Su Yu pondered.
“In the end, it will be Gu Yanqi who suffers,” Yuan Bao added.
“Master, there’s something I’ve been unable to understand,” Yuan Bao said, looking at Su Yu.
“Oh? Tell me.”
“It’s about Madam and Gu Xiruo. No matter what, Madam is far superior to Gu Xiruo. She has more connections and resources. Why do Gu Sheng and the others protect Gu Xiruo but not care about whether Madam is upset? Sometimes I feel sorry for madam Wang Jinhe. As the daughter of the Gu family, she is not only being displaced, but also not liked by her own parents. They would rather protect a counterfeit than even look at Madam,” Yuan Bao expressed his concerns.
Su Yu was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Yuan Bao to bring up this topic.
He chuckled softly. “Don’t Gu Sheng and the others know that this is wrong? They do, but they are just unwilling to admit their foolishness.”
“Ah?”
“Since the time Xiao He sent the clothes she wore as a child, Gu Sheng and the others have investigated. Since they have looked into the relationship between Xiao He and Gu Xiruo, they should know that Gu Xiruo has long been aware that she is not the daughter of the Gu family,” Su Yu explained to Yuan Bao calmly.
Yuan Bao still seemed puzzled. “If that’s the case, shouldn’t the Gu family return their identities? Isn’t that the right thing to do?”
“Ordinary people would indeed do that, but Gu Sheng is a peculiar one. Besides not wanting to admit that he was deceived by a child, the more important reason is because of his mother-in-law,” Su Yu continued. Gu Sheng’s resentment towards Gu Jiuning ran deep.
Xiao He was raised by his mother-in-law, so naturally, he wouldn’t like her. It’s all very normal.
“Also, he wants to save face. If people were to find out that he was deceived and played by his adopted daughter, where would he put his face? It’s better to just let things be. As long as Xiao He is gone, nothing will happen. That’s also why Gu Sheng fully supported Gu Xiruo when she wanted Xiao He’s life,” Su Yu explained. Gu Sheng was not a tolerant man, and he was particularly concerned about his reputation.
Admitting that his child had been swapped was more serious than losing his life.
Yuan Bao was taken aback by Su Yu’s words. “To harm his own biological daughter for the sake of someone with no blood relation, and to seek his daughter’s life, only someone like Gu Sheng could do such a thing.”
“Exactly. Given Gu Xiruo’s cruelty, the future won’t be too bright for Gu Sheng and his wife,” Su Yu shook his head.
“If they come to their senses and want to acknowledge Madam in the future, what should we do?” Yuan Bao asked.
Su Yu smiled and replied, “It’s too late.”
Yuan Bao paused, realizing the implications of what Gu Sheng and his wife had done. He nodded, acknowledging that it was too late for them to seek forgiveness from Madam. Even if they regretted their actions in the future, it would be of no use. Madam would never forgive them.
“Let Wan Feng and the others keep an eye on Gu Xiruo. If she tries to harm Gu Yanqi, then they should intervene and help him. Let the siblings handle it themselves,” Su Yu said, squinting his eyes.
He wouldn’t allow the people from the Gu family to disrupt their family’s life.
“Understood.”
As Lu Lingfeng looked at the peculiar expression on Su Yu’s face, he couldn’t help but wonder. How could the Prince be willing to stay in this ordinary little village? What was he thinking?
“Who are you?”
“I’m Lu Lingfeng, and I’m here to find Su Yu,” he replied.
“Please wait. Let me inform the Master,” a guard said as he turned and walked away, closing the door behind him to prevent Lu Lingfeng from following.
Su Yu was surprised to hear that Lu Lingfeng had come to see him. He had him brought in.
Raising an eyebrow, Su Yu asked, “What are you here for?”
“I want to talk to you about the Gu family,” Lu Lingfeng said, his expression turning serious.
“If you want to talk about the elders of the Gu family, I already know,” Su Yu replied.
Lu Lingfeng paused for a moment, then quickly realized that it was not surprising for Su Yu to have such information. However, his purpose in coming was not to discuss that matter.
“I’m here to talk about something else,” Lu Lingfeng said.
“Sit down and tell me,” Su Yu said.
As Lu Lingfeng sat down, he looked at Su Yu and said, “Gu Xiruo not only wants the Gu family, but she also wants the Qing family. What’s more, she wants Qing Yukong’s life.”
Su Yu looked at Lu Lingfeng in surprise. “How do you know this?”
“I found out unexpectedly. Gu Xiruo has gone mad. She is only concerned with power and status. Qing Yukong not only doesn’t believe it, but he is also vying for the position of the head of the Gu family on behalf of Gu Xiruo,” Lu Lingfeng explained. The elders of the Gu family were also eliminated with Qing Yukong’s help.
Otherwise, Gu Xiruo wouldn’t be able to achieve it on her own.
“I didn’t expect Gu Xiruo to have such abilities. It’s quite interesting,” Su Yu said, showing interest.
Lu Lingfeng knew that Su Yu would react this way and found it somewhat troublesome. “Don’t you want to know who Gu Xiruo will target once she gains control of these two families?”
“She harbors deep hatred for Xiao He, so naturally, she wants to harm her. But do you think she will have the opportunity to do so?” Su Yu asked Lu Lingfeng.
Lu Lingfeng looked at Su Yu, who seemed to have everything under control, and suddenly thought of his other identity.
Su Yu was the Dandy Scholar, a man destined for high office.
It seemed that he had underestimated Su Yu.
“It seems you know everything. In that case, why do you allow it?” What was this man thinking?
What benefit did it bring him to let Gu Xiruo’s power grow stronger?
“Why not allow it? It’s good to let Gu Sheng see what kind of person his beloved daughter is. Isn’t that nice?” Su Yu’s intention was clear: he wanted to vent his anger for Wang Jinhe.
Lu Lingfeng instantly understood. Su Yu was seeking retribution.
“They say the Imperial Prince dotes on his wife, and today I see that it’s not just a rumor,” Lu Lingfeng said. He was thoroughly impressed that Su Yu would go to such lengths for revenge against Gu Sheng.
“Thank you for the compliment.”
Lu Lingfeng looked at Su Yu speechlessly. Had he really complimented the Prince?
This prince was quite the character.
“Is this the only reason you came to talk to me?” Su Yu asked Lu Lingfeng.
It didn’t seem like his style.
“Not entirely. Besides that, there are some other things I need to discuss with you,” Lu Lingfeng said, sharing the latest information he had gathered.
“I have a feeling that the war will likely begin early next year. Be prepared,” Lu Lingfeng said, looking at Su Yu with a serious expression.
