Chapter 16: Qiao Lan, You Must Apologize to Me
“Qiao Lan, what are we going to do?”
Tian Tian was by Qiao Lan’s side when she made the call.
She clearly heard An Qingyuan’s threat.
She hadn’t expected the fashion show to be so chaotic.
Qiao Lan hadn’t expected An Qingyuan to act so recklessly at this time. She glanced at the bodyguards in the hallway.
These people were found by An Qingyuan through special channels. The sinister ruthlessness on their faces wasn’t something ordinary bodyguards would have.
But she wouldn’t give in.
Qiao Lan comforted Tian Tian, “Don’t worry, there’s always a way.”
“But the show is about to start.”
The show was scheduled to begin at nine, and it was already eight forty. Even if they called for help, it would be too late.
The other models saw the bodyguards outside the door and Qiao Lan’s troubled expression. They were also a little restless. “Ms. Qiao, what happened?”
Qiao Lan said calmly, “There was a little incident, but it’s not a big deal. Don’t worry. Continue with your work and prepare for the show.”
Her voice was soft and firm, able to soothe people. The models looked at each other, seemingly believing Qiao Lan, and went about their business.
Tian Tian admired Qiao Lan even more. She could still manage her emotions at this time.
After calming them down, Qiao Lan prepared to call her friend and ask him to come to the rescue.
Just as she found his phone number, Mo Qian’s call came in.
Qiao Lan wanted to end the call, but after thinking about it, she answered.
“Where are you?”
Qiao Lan heard the man’s voice and her nose felt a little sour. “I’m in the makeup room.”
Mo Qian looked at the preview on the big screen and frowned. “Isn’t Lan Xin the first one?”
“There was a little accident.”
Mo Qian’s cold voice was filled with an unquestionable tone. “There’s no accident. Lan Xin is the first one.”
“Huh?”
Qiao Lan didn’t understand what he meant.
But soon, she understood.
The bodyguards at the door answered a call and left in a hurry.
A young man in a blue suit walked in. He had a respectful smile on his face. “Are you Ms. Qiao Lan?”
“I am. Who are you?”
“I’m the organizer of the show.” He gestured with a hand. “Ms. Qiao, come with me. Don’t delay the start of the show.”
Qiao Lan asked, “Lan Xin is the first one?”
“Of course.”
Qiao Lan was puzzled. “Why?”
“Businessmen value integrity. Since we promised you, we won’t change it.”
Qiao Lan couldn’t help but ask, “What about An Qingyuan?”
“He acted recklessly and smeared the fashion week. He’s been kicked out.”
He had offended Mo Qian’s people, and it was more than just being kicked out.
Qiao Lan didn’t delve into the reason because the show was about to begin.
Qiao Lan stood below the runway, looking at the clothes on the models and the admiring gazes of the people around her. Her beautiful eyes sparkled with the excitement of “My daughter has grown up.”
Lan Xin’s first show was a success. Qiao Lan replaced Lan and went on stage to thank the audience. Then, she went down with the models.
She didn’t watch the rest of the show and left directly.
The car was waiting for her at the entrance of the stadium.
Qiao Lan opened the back door, and a bunch of orange Juliet roses came into view.
Qiao Lan was a little surprised. “Did you send these to me?”
Mo Qian hummed. “Congratulations on your success today.”
No woman dislikes flowers, and Qiao Lan was no exception. She held the bouquet in her arms and said casually, “The show was successful today. Whether it’s a huge success or not depends on the sales later.”
If the clothes don’t sell well, it’s all in vain.
Mo Qian said, “It will be successful.”
Qiao Lan smiled. “I’ll take your word for it.”
Speaking of which, Qiao Lan asked, “How were you so sure Lan Xin would be the first to appear?”
“Intuition.”
“Your intuition is pretty accurate.”
He said the curator would let her in, and she really did go in.
He said Lan Xin would be the first to appear, and she really was the first.
She seriously doubted that these were not coincidences, but deliberate actions.
But if it was deliberate, who would help her?
Qiao Lan couldn’t think of anyone who would help her. None of her friends had the power to do this.
Mo Qian looked at Qiao Lan’s puzzled expression through the rearview mirror and said in a low voice, “Not everything needs an answer.”
Qiao Lan said, “I just don’t like living in the dark.”
Too many coincidences are not coincidences. Who knows if they have any ulterior motives?
Mo Qian raised an eyebrow and remained silent.
…
After arriving at the company
Qiao Lan got out of the car with the roses. She looked at Mo Qian in the driver’s seat. “If you don’t want to go to the company to work, you can go to a nearby store to kill time. I have memberships to most of them. Just give them my phone number.”
She left these words and hurried into the company.
Mo Qian looked at the woman’s slender figure and chuckled.
She really planned to support him.
Qiao’s main business is women’s clothing brands, with a majority of female employees. He wasn’t interested in admiring their infatuation. He started the car and left.
The news of Qiao Lan’s return had already spread through the company. Subordinates rushed to put their recent work summaries on her desk.
Click-clack-clack!
The sound of rhythmic high heels echoed. Everyone immediately sat up straight.
Qiao Lan walked past without looking. She saw the files and work reports on the desk. A hint of satisfaction flashed in her beautiful eyes. She dialed an internal line and told her assistant, “Inform all departments to organize team building activities on the weekend. I won’t be participating.”
Employees were afraid of her. If she appeared at the team building event, they would definitely be uncomfortable.
Of course, she wasn’t interested in participating in their activities either.
Qiao Lan hung up the phone, and Qiao Zhenyuan’s call came in.
“Lanlan, come to my office.”
Qiao Lan went to Qiao Zhenyuan’s office. When she pushed the door open, she saw Qiao Yue sitting on the sofa, tears streaming down her face.
Qiao Lan glanced at her and calmly looked away. “Dad, what do you want?”
Qiao Zhenyuan asked with a stern face, “Lanlan, Yueyue is young and doesn’t understand. You don’t have to be so harsh on her, do you?”
Qiao Lan smiled. “Not all mistakes can be excused with ‘she’s young’. She was wearing the opening show’s clothes and refused to take them off herself. Should I not use a little force to threaten her?”
Qiao Zhenyuan said, “You could have persuaded her.”
“I couldn’t persuade her.” Qiao Lan shrugged. “Besides, she took them off herself in the end. No one saw anything.”
Qiao Zhenyuan was speechless.
Qiao Yue shouted angrily, “Qiao Lan, you must apologize to me.”
Qiao Lan’s eyes turned cold. “Qiao Yue, you teamed up with An Qingyuan’s daughter and blocked me outside the stadium, almost making the entire company pay for your recklessness. I didn’t hold you accountable, and you still want me to apologize? Your face is a little too big.”
Qiao Yue was frightened by Qiao Lan’s cold gaze and shrank her neck in fear.
“I, I was also doing it for the company’s good.” She said, then stiffened her neck and argued, “I’m Qiao’s daughter. Would I do something that would hurt Qiao? What’s in it for me?”
