Chapter 39 part 1
The inheritance reward did not arrive immediately after Kong Bi received it. She speculated that this kind of knowledge reward might be imparted in a dream.
Sure enough, when Kong Bi fell asleep that night, she discovered that the content of today’s inheritance had changed. In an antique-style schoolroom, a female teacher with cat ears and wearing simple ancient clothing sat at the head of the class. Her sharp emerald green cat eyes scanned the room: “I am a foreign teacher your elders invited for you. Only after you reach Cat Language Level Six can you leave this schoolroom.”
Kong Bi: ? ? ?
The next day, it was not until nine o’clock in the morning that Kong Bi got up from the bed with a weak face.
Kong Bi thought that accepting this kind of knowledge inheritance would be like blood inheritance. She could learn it without a teacher after a sleep. Unexpectedly, she had to learn it by herself.
Though only a single night had passed in the real world, within the academy she’d lost count of how many days and nights had gone by in the schoolroom. Most importantly! Because everyone was a demon, school had no breaks! She’d been trapped there until the foreign instructor deemed her proficient enough to leave—not before mocking her bird-demon accent when speaking Cat-tongue, claiming she could point out at least a dozen grammatical errors in her speech
The teacher even said that if she planned to take the Cat Language Level Ten exam next time, she could come find her, but the price wouldn’t be the same as now.
Fortunately, although the process was painful, the results were significant. Kong Bi quickly perked up, rubbed her hands together excitedly, and ran to the cafeteria to find the cat.
Coal Boss was still habitually squatting at the entrance, refusing to eat food offered out of pity.
Kong Bi greeted it: “Coal boss, good morning.”
The coal boss looked at Kong Bi in surprise. In the past, it relied on Kong Bi’s tone and body language to judge what she was saying. Unexpectedly, today she finally said something that he could understand.
Its tail gently tapped the ground before it lazily stood up, its tail held straight up as it walked a few steps towards Kong Bi. Immediately after, it sat back down again, its gaze returning to follow Chuchu.
Facing a cat like Coal Boss, even learning Cat Language was of little use, because they were usually too lazy to speak, habitually using body language to express their emotions and meanings. However, despite this, Kong Bi could tell that its response was perfunctory.
But at least it knew how to respond, which already counted as a relatively well-behaved kitten in terms of cat ethics.
Kong Bi didn’t put her hope on it, and waved to Chu Chu: “Chu Chu, come here and let me touch you!”
“Woof meow~!”
Chu Chu responded enthusiastically and ran towards Kong Bi.
Kong Bi couldn’t help but frowned. What’s going on? Why didn’t she understand it even after it spoke?
This shouldn’t be!
Kong Bi squatted down and stretched out her hand to scratch Chu Chu’s chin: “Chu Chu?”
“Woof meow~!”
“Have you eaten enough today?”
“Woof meow~!”
“Do you love me more or the coal boss?”
“Woof meow~!”
…
Kong Bi said one sentence and Chu Chu responded, but every sentence it responded to Kong Bi was just a meaningless roar. She began to doubt whether she really listened to the class seriously yesterday and passed the cat language level 6 test?
“It’s so annoying, why hasn’t it ended yet…”
Hmm?
Kong Bi was thinking when she suddenly heard a royal sister’s voice.
She looked down at Chu Chu, who was lying in front of her with his belly exposed. Seeing that Kong Bi suddenly stopped moving, it looked at her innocently, and her paws on her chest were still stepping on the milk in the air.
Kong Bi tentatively said: “Chu Chu?”
“Woof meow~!” Chu Chu responded without emotion and was full of skills.
Kong Bi felt like she had discovered something. She held Chuchu down and vigorously rubbed her, messing up her fur all over. Despite this, Chuchu still looked completely submissive, showing not the slightest impatience.
Even her voice was as sweet as ever.
Chuchu looked up at Kong Bi, letting out comfortable meows.
But in reality, while she was meowing at Kong Bi, she was calling for Coal Boss.
Hearing Chuchu call him, Coal Boss skillfully ran over, his fur bristling, growling low, and his ears flattened, as if scolding Kong Bi for being relentless and demanding his wife back.
But Kong Bi clearly heard that Coal Boss’s roar was the same as Chuchu’s just now – completely devoid of meaning, just like the ‘meow’ sound that ordinary people hear.
Kong Bi felt deceived.
Chuchu didn’t know that Kong Bi had seen through everything. It looked at Kong Bi with a seemingly conflicted expression, then looked at Coal Boss, and finally walked to Coal Boss’s side, turning its head back to look three times as it went.
Chuchu: “Let’s go, this two-legged creature freeloaded off me again today and didn’t give me food!”
Coal Boss immediately chimed in: “She’s too bad, I’ll help you scratch her next time!”
Kong Bi: “…………”
The two cats talked as they ran out of the cafeteria, leaving Kong Bi squatting on the spot with a look of weariness.
Wang Ling, who was passing by, looked at her strangely: “Director, what’s wrong?”
Kong Bi said angrily: “There’s not a single good little cat!”
“You can’t say that,” Wang Ling thought Coal Boss had come to scold her again, after all, it was very protective of Chuchu and would scold anyone who spent a little too long with her. She comforted Kong Bi, “Don’t say that, there’s still Chuchu.”
Kong Bi let out a cold laugh, and thinking of the stray cat that used to cling to her and meow whenever she went out, she reaffirmed her opinion: “There’s not a single good little cat!”
Wang Ling: ???
What had triggered the director?
Kong Bi had a look of someone who had seen through the world. She listlessly drank three bowls of pumpkin porridge before carrying a bucket of meat into the tiger enclosure.
After giving birth, Miao Miao’s food became even more abundant. The mixture of chicken, pork, and beef had many added vitamins, and the meat was specially selected to be low in fat, high in lean meat, and easy to digest.
“Mommy!”
Miao Miao came to the entrance of the tiger enclosure as soon as she heard the noise. Kong Bi pushed the door open and reached out to rub its fluffy big face.
“Does Miao Miao love me?”
“Love!”
Miao Miao placed its front paws on Kong Bi’s shoulders, responding enthusiastically.
Kong Bi was immediately moved and hugged it: “Waaah, as expected, Miao Miao is Mommy sweetest baby! Come let Mommy give you kisses.”
“Rrow?”
Miaomiao tilted her head in confusion, indifferent to her odd behavior, before quickly getting distracted by the meat bucket outside the door.
“Roar! ——”
Mom! Food! Hungry!
Kong Bi quickly pulled the food inside, her face full of affection: “Here, my precious Miaomiao, eat as much as you want. I’ll get more if it’s not enough.”
Miaomiao nudged a piece of beef heart toward her: “Mommy eat too!”
Kong Bi: As expected, Big Cats are different from little cats!!!
……
…………
Apart from the unexpected discovery that Chuchu was full of bad intentions, Kong Bi had a rather peaceful few days. Miao Miao’s two tiger cubs changed almost daily. Their broad tiger paws, in just a few short days, grew to be about the size of a large dog’s paws. However, with the daily feeding, Kong Bi also noticed a very serious issue.
The second cub, which had grown a bit larger, seemed unable to use its hind legs properly. It would crawl to Miao Miao’s belly to feed every day, never once pushing with its hind legs.
In comparison, the younger demon tiger cub started wobbling around on its second day of birth and began exploring its surroundings with a longing for freedom. However, it would only take a few steps before Miao Miao would bite its neck and carry it back. Every day, Kong Bi could hear Miao Miao’s threatening growls, forcing the little demon tiger to unwillingly crawl back, and then it would start venting its anger on the second cub.
The second cub, worthy of being a tiger born with the character ‘king(王)’ etched on its forehead, never indulged the older sibling. Its two front paws would strike out at the older cub without hesitation. Although it lost every battle, it never gave up and was full of spirit!
It was because of this that Kong Bi noticed that although it looked lively and healthy, its hind legs had never pushed off the ground.
A healthy and normal tiger cub doesn’t move much when it’s first born because its bones haven’t developed properly yet. It mostly just eats and sleeps. But even so, it doesn’t mean their limbs have no strength at all; their stance just becomes very low when they walk.
Miao Miao, being a first-time mother, didn’t notice the second cub’s abnormality. After all, it could also eat and sleep well, and it could even quarrel with the older cub. Although it didn’t like to move around much, even among tigers, there were quiet individuals, so this wasn’t a particularly unusual situation.
Of course, Miao Miao could make such a judgment because the second cub’s bowel movements were normal.
Newborn tiger cubs cannot defecate on their own; it takes at least half a month for them to barely manage autonomous bowel movements. Therefore, if a cub can defecate normally with its mother’s help, it basically indicates that the cub is healthy.
After all, not defecating for a few days would be enough to suffocate a cub to death.
This was also why Kong Bi hadn’t noticed the problem. After all, due to the little demon tiger, the second cub hadn’t received enough nutrition, so it was natural for it to be less lively after birth. But since Miao Miao, who never left the second cub’s side, didn’t think anything was wrong, that naturally meant everything was normal. A newborn cub eating, sleeping, and not liking to move around wasn’t strange at all.
However, a few days after birth, the second cub had recovered and showed its lively and outgoing personality. In this situation, its hind legs not moving at all was completely abnormal.
Kong Bi immediately informed everyone of this discovery.
Regarding the second cub, everyone actually paid far more attention to it than to Miaomiao or the older cub—because Kong Bi had already confirmed that the the older cub was a strong and healthy female tiger, while the second cub was a male tiger.
Therefore, as soon as Kong Bi explained the situation, everyone immediately became anxious.
What a rollercoaster of emotions.
Some believed that the older cub had likely taken too much nutrition in the womb, causing the second cub to develop poorly, but it shouldn’t be a major problem, and it should get better after a while as long as it got enough nutrition.
Others thought the situation should be very serious, perhaps only slightly better than being stillborn. After all, if it wasn’t a major issue, it should be a weak constitution, not direct hind limb weakness.
Because they were still newly born and no one had personally examined them, the others couldn’t give an accurate answer. The final conclusion was to wait a few days and see if the second cub could defecate on its own.
If other functions were normal and only the hind limbs were weak, then there would still be hope for a cure. But if the second cub couldn’t defecate on its own by then, there would basically be no hope of recovery.
Kong Bi was extremely worried about this and even started giving the second cub extra special meals.
