The elderly trio had long been accustomed to children from the compound coming over for meals.

When the four children returned after washing their hands, they found several dishes on the table they hadn’t tried before.

“Brother, look at these ears. Do they look like our ears?” Xu Xiaobao also got distracted by a plate of stir-fried pork with wood ear mushrooms on the table, pulling his elder brother’s sleeve.

“They really do look similar. Pretty Aunt, your food not only looks good but smells great!” Xu Dabo said, raising his head and smiling at her.

Li Yiyi smiled and picked up the spoon, serving each of them a portion of food from the table. “The food here is not only fragrant but also delicious. Try it. If you like any of the dishes, feel free to take more. Don’t be polite, treat this as your own home.”

“Okay, I won’t be polite, Pretty Aunt.” Xu Dabo immediately began to eat.

The adults couldn’t help but laugh at his funny antics.

Just then, the phone in the house rang.

“You all go ahead and eat, I’ll answer the phone,” Huang Yi said, standing up.

Li Yiyi glanced at the phone’s location, then quickly ignored it and continued enjoying lunch with her family.

After serving the children another dish, she heard Huang Yi return from answering the phone and whisper in her ear, “Yiyi, it’s Xiao Jiang calling. He wants you to come listen to the phone.”

Li Yiyi thought for a moment, then placed her chopsticks down and stood up. She said to Xu Dabo and his brother, “Help yourselves to whatever you want to eat. Don’t worry about me, treat this as your own home.”

“Got it, Pretty Aunt. Go ahead and take the call, don’t worry about us,” Xu Dabo answered without hesitation.

Li Yiyi smiled and quickly walked toward the phone.

Soon, she reached the phone and picked it up, calling out, “Hello, it’s me.”

As soon as she spoke, Jiang Hong’s voice came from the other end. “Wife, have you eaten yet?”

“I’m eating now. Why did you call home? Is there something important?” she asked.

“There’s something important. What delicious food is being served at home today? I thought I heard other voices from the house just now?” Jiang Hong continued.

Li Yiyi smiled and listed the dishes they were having for lunch, mentioning that Xu Dabo and his brother had come over to eat.

“Such delicious food, but I won’t be able to have a chance to come home and eat it today,” Jiang Hong said, feeling a little regretful after hearing about the dishes.

“Alright, move aside. Let me speak to Comrade Li,” suddenly another man’s voice came from the other end.

Li Yiyi recognized the voice and waited for a moment. Then, she heard the new voice start to speak.

“Comrade Li Yiyi, right? Hello, my name is Wu, nice to meet you,” Wu Xing said, his tone respectful as he took the phone from Jiang Hong.

“Here’s the thing, Comrade Li, today we heard that the research institute of the corporation has developed a new medicine. Do you know what this new medicine is?” Wu Xing asked directly.
