The day after the couple’s meeting, Li Yiyi didn’t expect that Huo Wujian would suddenly find her and meet with her.

“Li, I came here to explain that your situation has nothing to do with me. Though I don’t always act straightforwardly, I haven’t sunk so low as to engage in such shameless acts as framing you,” Huo Wujian said.

After hearing his explanation, Li Yiyi smiled faintly, “I did have some doubts about you, but now that I’ve heard this from you, all my doubts are gone. I believe you.”

Huo Wujian was stunned by her words. For a moment, he felt a bit unwilling. “Just like that, you don’t suspect me anymore? Don’t you want to reconsider?”

Li Yiyi chuckled. “Comrade Huo, did you come here to make me not misunderstand you? Now that I no longer suspect you, you want me to suspect you again?”

“I didn’t mean that. I just think you were too playful with your suspicions,” he said, feeling a bit down.

He felt like he was just an insignificant person in Li Yiyi’s eyes.

Here he was, the head of the prestigious Huo family, yet he was being so underestimated. The contrast left him feeling quite uncomfortable.

“Alright, I’ve listened to your explanation. You can leave now,” she said quickly.

“Let me ask you one more thing. Do you know who’s behind you being brought in here?” He suddenly turned around after reaching the door and walked up to her with an amused look.

Li Yiyi looked at his expectant face and asked with a smile, “Do you know?”

“Of course I know. The Huo family isn’t blind. If we couldn’t figure something like this out, how could we have risen to our current position?” Huo Wujian replied confidently.

Li Yiyi nodded in agreement. “That sounds reasonable, but I don’t want to know who’s behind this.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Wujian raised his eyebrows. “You’re just giving up without a fight? According to my investigation, someone actually wants your life.”

“Oh, I see. Thanks for the heads-up,” Li Yiyi replied with a smile, her eyes gleaming.

Huo Wujian’s eyes widened when he realized what he had just said.

“Did you just try to trap me? You’re too despicable,” he said angrily.

“Did I? I didn’t ask anything. You said it yourself. It has nothing to do with me,” Li Yiyi answered, stifling her laughter.

Huo Wujian glared at her smiling face and gritted his teeth. “Li Yiyi, I never expected you to be such a rogue. I underestimated you,” he muttered, his face dark with anger. After losing the argument, he stormed out of the interrogation room.

At that moment, Li Yiyi turned toward the glass on the wall. She knew someone was standing behind it.

“You must have heard what I said to Comrade Huo. I’m innocent, and someone wants my life. I don’t want to lose my life here, so I ask that you investigate this matter thoroughly,” she said, addressing the glass.

“Director Huang, it seems this matter is really suspicious. We must be led by someone’s nose,” a man standing beside Director Huang reported what he had found.

“I’ve never doubted Comrade Li. The reason I had her brought here was to see who was pulling the strings,” Director Huang sneered.

“But it seems that Comrade Li knew something before us,” he added, observing the figure inside the interrogation room.

“Director, are you saying that Comrade Li knows who framed her? Why hasn’t she said anything? Why is she still cooperating with us?” the man asked, surprised, glancing at the woman in the room.

“Don’t try to guess a woman’s mind. But if we really want to know, we might as well ask her directly. That might be quicker,” Director Huang said, smiling as he walked out.

Li Yiyi heard footsteps approaching from outside the door. She smiled slightly as she heard the door creak open.

“Director Huang,” she greeted, having spent enough time in the facility to recognize almost everyone working here.

“Comrade Li, why do you have to do this? You know exactly who framed you. Why not just tell us directly?” Director Huang asked with a helpless expression.

“I just wanted to give your people a chance to train properly,” Li Yiyi replied with a smile.

Director Huang chuckled helplessly and reached out to lightly tap the air as if pointing at her. “You and Jiang Hong are both so clever. No wonder you two make a great couple.”

“Director Huang, I’ll take that as a compliment to us as a couple. Thank you,” she said with a grin.

“Comrade Li, you’re a smart person. You must have guessed why I came to see you. You don’t want the person who framed you to get away, right?”

“Director Huang, just speak your mind,” Li Yiyi interrupted.

Director Huang paused, then immediately shared his thoughts with her.

“If Comrade Li agrees, I will ensure your safety. We won’t let a single hair on your head be harmed.” Seeing her silent, Director Huang continued, “You’ll have nothing to worry about.”

“I don’t mind. The plan you proposed only benefits me. And if it succeeds, I can leave here and clear my name. Isn’t that right?” Li Yiyi smiled.

“Yes, and afterward, I’ll have all the staff here apologize to you personally. I’ll even escort you home and publicly declare that you are innocent,” Director Huang said, his mood clearly lifted.

Li Yiyi smiled and interrupted him, “You don’t need to personally escort me home. Just let me leave here, and that will be enough.”

“Great. I’ll sleep well tonight and be ready to put on a good show tomorrow.” Li Yiyi’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.

The next day, after having breakfast delivered to her, Li Yiyi was escorted out by two men.

Having been confined for several days, stepping into the bright sunlight outside temporarily hurt her eyes.
