Chapter 18: Supporting the Waist
As soon as these words fell, everyone turned to look at Sang Sui.
Her small face was delicate, her skin fair, with a finely detailed and graceful appearance. She looked no older than eighteen or nineteen.
Sang Sui felt a bit nervous and wanted to explain, but Zou Jing stood up and reprimanded her directly: “What are you talking about? We’re just friends.”
“Hey, isn’t it the kind of friend where you can go to a hotel together and chat openly?” the person patted Zou Jing’s shoulder, smiling ambiguously, “Bro, I get it~.”
The man’s sharp eyebrows furrowed, and he lowered his eyes, a flicker of anger flashing across them.
The woman beside noticed the change in his demeanor and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong with Mr. Sheng?”
Sheng Yize leaned forward, pulling the ashtray from the coffee table, extinguishing his cigarette, and throwing it in.
He didn’t say a word throughout.
But the woman could feel the growing anger and coldness emanating from him.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Zou Jing swung his fist, about to strike, but Chen Yi stopped him.
The man raised an eyebrow, looking relaxed, “I was just making a joke, sorry about that.”
Hao Jun, hearing the commotion, came in from outside to mediate. After finishing, he turned and scolded the man, “Zhang Qi, if you want to play, play properly. If you don’t want to play, get lost! Today is my birthday, and you’re ruining my party?”
Zhang Qi grinned, “Yes, yes, Hao Ge, sorry.”
“Apologize to them.”
Zhang Qi came to Zou Jing’s front, “Jing Ge, sorry.”
Zou Jing’s anger subsided a little, but he still glanced at Sang Sui, “Apologize to Sang Sui.”
This was Sang Sui’s first time attending their private gathering. To them, she looked nice and, being a woman, they assumed she was like the other women who came just to climb the social ladder with wealthy men.
Since the very beginning, Zhang Qi had looked down on her, so his apology was extremely insincere.
“Sang Sui, sorry.” He said quickly, then turned and walked away to mingle with others.
“Who the hell do you think you are, showing that kind of attitude?” Zou Jing stepped forward.
Chen Yi stopped him, glanced at Zhang Qi, and lowered his voice, “Give Hao Jun face, we’ll find a chance later.”
Zou Jing’s anger hadn’t completely dissipated, but he held it in.
He looked at Sang Sui with a heart full of pity: “Sorry, Sang Sui…”
Sang Sui’s face was pale, and she forced a smile, shaking her head, “It’s fine.”
Saying “It’s fine” was a lie.
The insincere apology made her feel angry and humiliated, but she couldn’t afford to argue.
After all, if she made a fuss, they would think she couldn’t take a joke and was too petty.
It was truly disgusting.
Lin Luoluo was also angry, “What kind of person is this!”
Chen Yi turned his head to look at Sheng Yize.
The latter’s expression was indifferent, as if he was entirely uninterested in what was happening here.
It was disheartening…
The earlier small disturbance didn’t seem to affect the group’s enthusiasm for playing.
Soon after, everyone resumed their playful banter.
Sheng Yize had just picked up a glass of wine when a dice cup was suddenly handed to him.
“Mr. Sheng, care to play?”
Sheng Yize’s hand paused briefly, his gaze slowly moving from the dice to Zhang Qi’s face, which was full of ingratiating smiles.
The man’s gaze darkened slightly, then he smiled, “Sure.”
Zhang Qi grinned, “If I win, can you…” He lowered his voice, “Let me join your AI development team?”
Sheng Yize’s smile deepened: “That depends on whether you have the skills.”
Zhang Qi immediately became fired up, sitting down opposite him, “Alright then, best two out of three. Whoever shakes the most numbers wins. The winner can ask the loser for any condition, and the loser can’t back out.”
Sheng Yize took a sip of red wine, set the glass down, and smiled even more, “Just the two of us playing?”
Zhang Qi paused.
“That’s so boring,” Sheng Yize raised a hand and gestured to Chen Yi and Zou Jing, “They’re all part of our AI development team. How about this? If you beat one of them, I’ll let you in. How does that sound?”
Having just had a dispute with Zou Jing, Zhang Qi was worried Zou Jing might cheat, but if he rejected, he wouldn’t have any chance to join their AI team.
“Alright! You three, then. I’ll go get two more people.”
“Go ahead, bring your people.”
Zhang Qi quickly brought two more people over.
Once everyone was seated and ready, the game began.
Each round, the dice cup held three dice, and the winner would be determined by who had the most dice.
In the first round, Zhang Qi’s group went first.
