Chapter 14: Favorability -50
Xu Jiaojiao was on a mission, but when she met those cold, indifferent eyes, she chickened out.
The words she was about to say to strike up a conversation were swallowed back down.
“I, I’m here to pick tea leaves.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw a hint of mockery in the man’s eyes.
Xu Jiaojiao: …
Sure enough, she glanced to the side and saw that the tea tree next to him had been completely stripped bare.
This was awkward.
Adhering to the principle of doing everything for the mission, she devised a new plan.
Xu Jiaojiao put on a stern face and glared at him.
“What, does your wife need a reason to find you?”
As soon as she finished speaking, before Qin Shuo could respond, another voice came from behind him.
“Exactly, I said Old Qin, what’s wrong with you? Treating your sister-in-law like this, I can’t stand it anymore.”
Zheng Zhaoxing was also carrying tea leaves and happened to hear Xu Jiaojiao’s words. He couldn’t help but speak up in her defense.
Hearing this, Xu Jiaojiao was moved.
There were still good people in the world!
This was it!
This was her chance!
Xu Jiaojiao quickly took out her handkerchief and, with lightning speed, wiped it across Qin Shuo’s forehead.
Zheng Zhaoxing happened to be standing behind Qin Shuo and couldn’t dodge in time. He was directly wiped.
His face immediately turned black.
But the woman in front of him had a nervous expression, as if she was saying to the person behind him, “I just wanted to wipe his sweat.”
“Pfft!”
Zheng Zhaoxing burst out laughing. Where did this silly girl come from?
Which woman, when wiping a man’s sweat, would have such a fierce look on her face?
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think she was coming to seek revenge.
Xu Jiaojiao didn’t care about any of that. As soon as her mission was completed, she greased her feet and ran away.
From afar, she could still hear the man’s laughter.
“I said Old Qin, your wife is a real treasure.” Fierce and cowardly, it didn’t seem out of place at all.
Qin Shuo didn’t speak, but his face was very ugly.
The faint fragrance on his forehead felt like it was stuck there, unable to be wiped away.
Thinking about the pink handkerchief that had wiped across his forehead, his face grew even darker.
He flashed back to the previous life, when she had held this handkerchief and wanted to wipe the sweat off another person’s forehead.
Seeing his bad expression, Zheng Zhaoxing tried to persuade him again, “You’re being too harsh. She’s so proactive, you’re not even giving her a good look. Be careful, she won’t pay any attention to you later.”
“I know what I’m doing.” Qin Shuo said, then carried the tea leaves and walked away.
On the other hand, Xu Jiaojiao was not doing well at all.
Because on the mission panel, Qin Shuo’s favorability had dropped to -50.
If it went below -50, her mission would fail.
“Feifei, what do I do? You’re the one who assigned the mission.”
She had diligently completed every single one.
Logically, even if it didn’t increase his favorability, it shouldn’t decrease this much.
With things like this, Xu Jiaojiao was completely dumbfounded.
“Jiaojiao, the target has an anomaly. I need to check it out.”
Xu Jiaojiao: ?!
“How long will the check take?”
“Feifei doesn’t know, Jiaojiao, please wait patiently.”
Xu Jiaojiao: …
For a moment, she didn’t know whether to be happy or not.
“You’re not here, should I still try to win him over?”
This was the key question, she had to ask.
“No need, Jiaojiao, you’re free to do whatever you want, just make sure you don’t let his favorability decrease further.”
This was really too difficult for her!
That man was really hard to deal with.
But the pitfall was still a pitfall, after saying those words, it disappeared.
It was quiet, as if it had never existed.
Xu Jiaojiao suspected that the mission had gone wrong, so it had run away?
But not having to do the mission, Xu Jiaojiao’s mood improved. She worked with a newfound enthusiasm.
“Look, Qin Laosan is back, Xu Jiaojiao is working with renewed vigor.”
Xu Jiaojiao: …
Finally, after a hard day’s work, Xu Jiaojiao wiped her sweat, picked up her tools, and went down the mountain.
Thinking about the two eggs in her lucky bag, she separated from Ding Xiujin halfway down.
This was a hilly area, and from above, you could see everything.
Xu Jiaojiao walked for a while before finding a small river.
Looking around, she saw no one, so she found a spot to sit down.
To be safe, she put the eggs in her backpack.
Sitting under a tree, Xu Jiaojiao took out one of the eggs.
The egg was still warm, as if it had just come out of the pot.
The weather was still a bit cold, so holding a warm egg felt incredibly comfortable.
Xu Jiaojiao looked at the egg, as white as jade, her eyes shining brightly.
Without hesitation, she placed it on the stone and tapped it.
After a while, a white, tender egg was perfectly peeled.
It faintly emitted the unique aroma of egg whites, Xu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but swallow.
She put it in her mouth and took a bite. The springy, smooth egg white fell into her mouth.
Xu Jiaojiao hadn’t been this hungry in a long time, and she felt that this egg was more delicious than any other food in the world.
She couldn’t resist, she ate one bite after another—
Before long, the remaining half of the egg was in her mouth.
Suddenly, there was a “splash” from the water.
The next moment, a tall figure wearing a tank top emerged from the water.
Xu Jiaojiao was caught off guard and almost choked!
After finally swallowing the egg in her mouth, she met a pair of familiar eyes.
Cold, scrutinizing…
Xu Jiaojiao: …
She really did have a grudge against this man!
Perhaps because she had lost face too many times, Xu Jiaojiao had become much calmer.
And since the system wasn’t here, she didn’t have to worry about the mission.
With just one glance, Xu Jiaojiao calmly withdrew her gaze.
Then, she calmly got up from the stone, straightened her back, and left.
Behind her, the man’s eyes held a hint of confusion.
But after a while, they turned cold again.
Xu Jiaojiao wondered if she had been exposed.
Thinking about those eyes that seemed to be able to see through everything, Xu Jiaojiao shivered.
She felt that for the time being, she should stay away from him.
Besides, she had learned her lesson. The more missions she completed, the lower his favorability became.
It was better to take a break and enjoy a few peaceful days.
Not far away, Xu Jiaojiao saw a familiar figure.
“Erni, what are you doing here?”
The thin, small girl with hair like dry grass, who else could it be but Liu Zhaodi’s second daughter?
It must be said that all three sisters were unlucky. Their mother favored sons over daughters.
Sons were like treasures, while daughters were like weeds.
Of the three daughters, the most unfortunate was Erni.
She did the most work and got beaten and scolded the most.
Meeting those dull eyes, Xu Jiaojiao was silent.
After a moment, she took out another egg from her backpack and handed it to her.
Seeing the egg, Erni’s eyes lit up with longing.
Her mouth couldn’t help but salivate.
But she took a step back and shook her head.
“Take it, it’s from Third Aunt.” Xu Jiaojiao handed it to her again.
Hearing this, Erni, as if she could no longer resist the temptation, timidly reached out her hand.
“Take it and eat it in hiding.”
Xu Jiaojiao said, stuffing the egg into her hand, and then turned and left.
